25 Replies to “Not A Muslim”

  1. Geezus Ooooz, if I were to bitch, like an old woman, every time my comment got hi-jacked (held), I’d have to change my name to Oz.

  2. Kate’s just demonstrating that there is so much Muslim fun in the news, we have trouble deciding which outrage we should bloviate about. Carry on.

  3. the U.S. is “committed to the concepts of tolerance, freedom and diversity.
    Next, they’ll be enforcing lent.

  4. Stand down from Condition One.
If you follow the link to the Centcom page:
When outside U.S. controlled areas, eating and drinking in public during daylight hours is against the law. Failure to obey could result in fines up to $685 or a sentence of up to two months in jail.
“The commander’s policy dictates that airmen will adhere to local law, which prohibits eating, drinking or tobacco use off base in public,” said Sickles.
The Standard’s piece makes it sound like service members must observe the Muslim fasting. Not so at all. This is nothing new. We experienced the exact same thing back during Desert Storm in ’93.

  5. If I we’re to serve in the U.S. or Canadian military I would definitely NOT observe a holiday that conflicts with my own live and let live lifestyle. Western militaries have gone way too soft when it comes to serving in middle eastern countries. Hopefully the foxhole atheists WHO do serve in the military are actively ignoring this politically correct leftist policy.
Because A Well Fed And Hydrated Solider Is An Effective Solider, Not A Starving One.

  6. What has Ramadan got to do with anyone but those of the Muslim faith? When Western countries have to fight wars they don’t stop fighting for religious observances like Christmas or Easter. The world is going off it’s axis leaning heavily to the Left.

  7. Robert of Ottawa: “Next, they’ll be enforcing lent.
I have a funny feeling that’s one thing they won’t be enforcing.

  8. Somewhat related: In the closing days of the war in Europe, in those areas controlled by Americans, the order of calories was: 1200/day for German citizens, 2000/day for displaced persons and 4000/day for American GIs. The 1200/2000 bit was a reversal of what it was before the Americans took over.

  9. America has a sick fascination (and lots of hidden deals) with the sweet taste of Islams salty chocolate balls. They just put them in their mouths and suck ’em. You can trust America like you can trust Islam as a result.

  10. When do they have to star observing VooDoo?? I’m surprised the high mucky-mucks in the Forces aren’t fighting this. Oh wait, political appointees. No I’m not.

  11. All this is is a reminder to the troops to obey local laws while outside US-controlled territory. This is a non-story.

  12. “All this is is a reminder to the troops to obey local laws while outside US-controlled territory.”
Not really, Daniel. Non-Muslims are here being required to not eat or drink in public during Ramadan. This is about obeying religious laws about fasting that should apply only to Muslims.
This fits perfectly with the demands of Islam throughout history that dhimmis (those who surrender to the Muslims) must either convert, be killed, or submit to Islamic law.

  13. I wonder what the charge would be. Refusing an order? Seems kinda rough for munching a Snickers bar.

  14. “U.S. Troops Face Eating”
Is anyone else not outraged and grossed out that US troops are eating faces?
I mean really, can the current quality of mess food and field rations be that bad, that they resort to eating faces? Or is this an intimidation thing they’re doing to scare the bejeebus out of al Qaeda and those other pesky terrorist types?

  15. “Commanders throughout the AOR create policies to ensure their subordinates respect the laws and culture of our hosts at all times.”
All that I can remember from the 1970s as a teen are my parents commenting that the only ones in the bar @ the hotel (far east muslim country) were muslims….so WTF
    Have things changed so much??!

  16. “What is a “US controlled area”?
Good point. Since the U.S. cannot control Baltimore Maryland or Ferguson Missouri, what space exactly does it control?
“During the 30-day religious celebration of Ramadan, even non-Muslims are expected to obey local laws regarding eating, drinking, and using tobacco in public.”
Really? A military occupation means the military occupants are under the same rights and freedoms that these soldiers enjoy at home or need to remain vigilant during the occupation?
As to what “FASTING” really means… well it does not mean merely shifting your meal times from daylight to darkness as Muslim moonstone worshippers deem.
I have personally fasted for 21 days(3 weeks) and REAL fasting means taking nothing but water, not fruit juice or fish broth …only water, during the entire time.
