Another day governed, and deeper in debt;
Lysyk’s report pointed out that the government now spends more on debt interest than it does on post-secondary education, and those interest costs are growing.
And that ain’t all;
People in Ontario are paying billions of dollars extra for electricity thanks to a flawed smart meter program and the above-market rates the province pays most power generators, Ontario’s auditor general reported Tuesday.

The irony of a government that mismanaged the finances of Ontario having the mendacity of imposing a payroll tax because weird aunt Whine says the voters don’t know how to save for retirement
There’s nothing new about the so-called smart meters. They simply measure demand as well as kWh consumption. Nothing new, the utilities have been doing it for decades with industrial customers. For the past 25 years there’s been lots of us saying that demand metering on residences was pointless because the small quantity of electricity saved would never pay for the cost of the meters and data collection.
Just like light-bulbs or music recording, it gave the industry concerned the perfect excuse to make a large new batch of fancier, more expensive toys just because they could. But the economics of household demand metering was always absurd. To recover the costs, the price of electricity would have to be so high that the good citizens (even the liberal ones) would be rioting in the streets. This on isn’t about government mismanaging a program that was otherwise viable. The economics of household demand metering was simply never there.
Ontario’s Auditor-General says the installation of hydro Smart Meters in 4.8 million homes and businesses across the province is costing ratepayers nearly double what the government originally budgeted.
It’s one of the highlights in Auditor-General Bonnie Lysyk’s annual report, tabled in the legislature Tuesday afternoon. Other key criticisms of government spending:
– The Health Ministry does not know what happened to around one million doses of the flu vaccine purchased each year for the past three years.
– The auditor found “serious deficiencies” in the province’s immigration program that she said could allow unqualified people to get permanent residency.
– The government is wasting money by keeping terminally ill patients in acute care hospital beds instead of more appropriate palliative care.

Every time I see a news story about some provincial Liberal malfeasance, I have to ask myself “what is wrong with the average voter in my province.
I believe they are scared and very afraid of the unknown (in the form of the PC’s).
Just as great as this problem is their lack of an understanding of economics. Most people I know haven’t got a clue. They were never taught in school and were mis-informed by the media. A story like this would be figured out by my children in a moment because, through much eye rolling on their part, I taught them. But now they know and are gob-smacked at the rank stupidity of politicians and stories like this.
In the video clip, the minister is indignant about quitting. Their is no dignity among the entitled and self-important.
Just as no Ontario resident would want to subsidise wind turbines.
Ontario Liberal voters are quite happy to let such a wasteful, presumptuous government do their thinking for them.
Wynn wants to compound the stupidity by “putting a price on Carbon”. Every politicians wet dream, A tax on nothing. She will try to ram this through and odds are better than even that by this time next year Ontario will stagger under the load of another tax for the joy of going green. Sheer desperation to get more money to squander.

By the way! Do y’all understand Ontario Small Businesses will have to provide their employees with RRSP’s starting in 2017.
You know the only adults in the Province of Ontario are those who provide most of the jobs for the un-adults and still the bureaucrats want to impede the adults from providing the jobs to put food on-the table for the un-adults.
Thought the purpose of government was to provide the Contract in the Social Contract.
apparently gruber is familiar with the average ontario voter. stupid kind of sums it up.
Yep Ontario voters were Gruberized…….
