Bad for Democrats, good for Canada;
“Good news for Canadian jobs & economy,” the employment minister tweeted. “It looks like the new US Senate will have the 60+ votes needed to ensure that Keystone XL is approved.”
He could be right.
More on the bloodshed at Drudge, including How the GOP did it.

But is Keystone still viable with lower oil prices?
If the GOP Congress does alot to fix the economy (and that’s not a given), then it might help our economy enough to boost our economy and the CPC for next year but now the U.S. MSM will be reporting all the bad economic news they’ve literally been ignoring for the past 6 years to aid the Dems, blaming it on the new GOP Congress instead. And that will influence our own LIVs to see the economy as in the tank and needing a new government to fix things. I hope it doesn’t work out like that.
Myself, I want to see Energy East completed so I can fuel my car and heat my house with oil from Alberta & Saskatchewan rather than Nigeria & Norway. An all Canadian pipeline would be free from interference by US governments in the future.
Lower oil prices won’t last long, which is a pity, it would be better for the world if Iran, Russia and Venezuela have their governments go bankrupt and the mullahs, Vlad the invader and Maduro and his cronies strung up than having them remain in power.
I liked this tweet the best…

Said on @NBCNews earlier that this was not a wave. But the returns since then say otherwise.

Gotta love it when the Dems eat their own words. I’m sure that was like chewing on glass to spit that one out…

Never mind lame duck president, for this “save the burning furniture election”; more like the repudiated president.
As a bonus Sandra Fluke won’t be heard from for some time as she flamed out in a 2 to 1 rout in California.
Congratulations to American voters for derailing the “Obama-Nation(tm)”…
Republicans easily won the 218 seats required and were on track to match or surpass the 246 seats they held during President Harry S. Truman’s administration in the late 1940s. Obama will face a Republican-controlled Congress in his final two years as Republicans regained control of the Senate.
Hope and change is moving AWAY from the “Obama-Nation(tm)”…
Cheers

OK they have both houses – what will the GOP do with it – carry on the bipartisan agenda of growing government, destroying the dollar/economy, erecting the police state, greasing special interests, pardoning the criminality of the previous regime and welcoming in illegals
– or will we see a cathartic constitutional congress – you can have status quo statism or constitutional republic – can’t have both.
The best part about all of this is going to be watching Harry Reid have to eat a crap sandwich each day in the Senate as a direct result of all the nonsense he pulled doing the bidding of Obama’s various lackeys.
Not convinced anything will really change given the Republicans previous performance when they controlled both houses but you never know…. it certainly can’t be any worse than it is now.
I hope Keystone remains stopped. The initial Canadian Government action of a trans-continental railway (there will always be claims of corruption when spending mega-$$) was and may still be a future internal backbone of Canada.
The East-Coast-then a B.C. Coast oil/refinery export location- (the inhibiting power of the U.S.A./Environmental funding coalition of B.C First Nations self-interest leadership lessened) will provide the best scheduling approach.
The China oil-gambit in the Beaufort Sea will be dependent on China-Russia oil transactions. One should keep in mind China and Russia share a border at Altai-isolating Kazakistan and Mongolia. This China/Russia border is not far from Russian oil assets and the million strong Chinese Army.
I wonder if the election would have gone differently for Obama had he accepted the inevitable and approved Keystone back when the jobs created would have made a difference for him?
Who cares? Glad to see him get his comeuppance.
It is good news that Americans are finally tiring of being fed s**t by The Big Loser and his Dem enablers. How far all this goes remains to be seen, of course. The Republican majority in the Senate is not big enough to overcome a Presidential veto.
However, the egregious H. Reid lowered the threshold for some areas to 50% + 1 from 66%, so we may see something interesting. I would hope that there will be effective prosecutions of IRS etc. officials.
Oil is 77 dollars a barrel right now. If this keeps up for any period of time keystone XL will be the least of the oil industries concerns.
The Republicans are called “The Stupid Party” for good reason. We’ll see if anyone can heard these cats.
The executive branch (Obama) has much more power than the legislative branch, even when the legislative branch has a majority. Remember— Obama is a stone cold Marxist determined to bring the USA to its knees. He will rule by decree (executive order) to do everything in his power to destroy the country. The worse, the better, in his mind. He got two more years to do as much damage as he possibly can.
Typo: Meant to say HERD, not heard.
Congress can now block appointments and restrain Obama’s foot-soldier Agencies through the purse, particularly after he vetoes all bills passed but do they have the guts to stand up to the Obama-media Party. They have no mandate other than being not Obama. Will they impeach him or block his Royal Edicts on immigration? The Republicans have a mess to deal with, likely way beyond the average Stupid Party congressional capacity and the nation’s collective IQ.
But is Keystone still viable with lower oil prices?

Doesn’t matter.
The idea that two countries, and might I say friends,
can share the same wealth across the same borders will cause OPEC – Russia to keep a lid on their prices,
not to mention any pending emergencies we have, storms, terrorists attacks, etc. etc..

Just woke up from a long night of counting ballots, stuffing boxes, ha.
Not the illegal kind,
and see that we Republicans, Independents, and yes Conservative democrats have kicked ass in our great nation.
Do you smell that breath of fresh clean air?
I do, and now we have to make this country great again, the future is back in better hands.

“Will they impeach him or block his Royal Edicts on immigration?”
Obama best resign if he has a brain. A super Majority is almost a sure thing if he steps into immigration. The Senate was how Reed blocked bills because he didn’t want a recorded Democrat VOTE that would hurt the DNC. Obama doesn’t have all the Democrats on his side and 2016 has a whole lot of HURT for Hillary if he abuses his Veto. Obama is Toast, maybe Joe will get his chair.
The House Pickups (New England States) suggest upside gains for 2016. The Democrats have to walk carefully.
The State of MD has a Republican Governor, that tells the story of how big the Obama mistake has hurt Democrats. I never thought Maryland would vote Republican in my lifetime. (Pelosi is from Baltimore)

From the NYT comments page:
So here we are, 235 years after the death of Rousseau, and the official positions of the governing bodies of the most powerful nation on earth are as follows:
1. The earth is 6000 years old
2. Climate can not be effected by human activity
3. Humans and the rest of the world’s creatures were created, as is, by a very powerful guy in the sky named God.
4. Expertise, scientific or otherwise, is to be disdained; the good common sense of guys with names like Joe the Plumber is all that is required to run the nation.
5. The wealthy are God’s elect; praise them. The poor brought it on themselves; disparage them.
6. Regulation is not only unnecessary to insure things like clean air, water, safe working conditions…it chokes innovation, is socialistic and therefore un-American
7. Birth control, stem cell research, and abortion are all forms of infanticide and an abomination in the eyes of the aforementioned big guy in the sky.
8. Gay people should be unseen, unheard, and unmarried.
9. Women should learn to cook.
10. Cutting tax rates invariably results in higher tax revenues. This effect is magnified when it’s the tax rates on the wealthy that are reduced.
This is the last comment I will be making for quite some time as I am so sick at heart I won’t be able to bring myself to look at a newspaper for the foreseeable future.
Obama will strong arm dems to not give the senate a veto on keystone. HE wants to be a god to the enviro-left once he is done this gig as POTUS.
The dynamic in both the senate and house will be interesting. The teaparty – read: fiscal conservative, anti-crony wing – of the GOP won this election. They raised the money, they had the winning issues. Look to see if mcconnell and boehner become toothless leaders – taking their marching orders from Ted Cruz et al.
Investigations of Benghazi and the IRS and repeal/defunding of obamacare will devastate Hillary’s chances in 2016 and i think many in the dem party know this and are already looking for a replacement and/or are resigned to defeat in ’16.
Another big loser is the media – they persuaded no one to vote dem.
It was amusing at first to read the comments at the NYT or Guardian or Little Green Footballs, etc. Then it became tiresome. Now I won’t do it at all. Too much bitterness.
People in general have come to see politics as a team sport or as a tribal thing. There is no real perspective in the comments, just excuses why their TEAM lost or their TRIBE won and, of course, bitterness and depression or elation and irrational exuberance.
It’s absurd. I want the country to take a different direction but ALL of these politicians are Americans, not some kind of alien who is trying to destroy the country.
It’s not the end of the world or the dawn of a new age. Everybody needs to get a grip.

I’m not optomistic that this election will be of much value to Canada.
Obama is a lame duck president and he knows it and now he’ll just have to prove over and over that he’s willing to rule as a dictator. He’s promised repeatedly that he’s willing to use executive powers to stop or initiate bills and he really has nothing to lose by behaving this way. I suspect he’ll veto Keystone and I think that Canada should put more emphasis on the East-West pipeline or getting oil to the west coast anyway.
Obamas address this afternoon hinted far more to his philosophy that I’m not prepared to change my ways and only giving lip service to the idea that he’s prepared to work with Congress and the Senate.
Obama will screw Americans out of as much as he can in the time he has left. I expect to see a lot of overseas trips for him and the wife and kids and a lot of time to improve his golf score.
The legacy of the Obama regime will be how a ‘brother’ from Chicago scammed America to live large in the White House on the taxpayer’s dime, for TWO terms. B.Husein and the Mrs will retire set for life, on the taxpayer’s dime. “Hope y’all liked the Change”.
Not sure what is wrong with 9 and 10?
