  1. Godspeed, Governor Perry.
Perhaps the actions of the leader of the most successful US state will prevent the Union from becoming a lawless, failed state.

  2. What’s he going to accomplish with this?
Realistically, his national guard will just deliver the illegals to holding locations within the US.
    Then what?
Only shipping these people right back to where they came from without any questions asked or explanation provided, will change this mess. No one has the guts for this.
The Camp of the Saints. FTW. Again.

  3. Maybe it ain’t gonna make one iota of difference but at least he’s showing he’d like to try a little to deal with this disaster, much unlike what comes from Washington.
I’m no huge Perry fan, but even a little effort and smarts better than what we get from Obama and his cronies these days.

  4. It looks so promising, until I read the article…
It’s not clear if Gov. Perry is sending the Texas National Guard “to help control the influx of unauthorized immigrants..
It’s not clear if Gov. Perry is sending them to “help the Texas Dept. of Public Safety manage the surge” …
I suspect when the National Guard is sent to a border area, it’s to stop the flow of people. This article mentions “manage the surge” / “to help control” … and that’s not what folks are asking for.
That’s short of “stop the flow”. I suspect there are a few in the US that’d like the flow stopped.

  5. Sounds like a lot of hollow posturing.
On the other hand, if the border states’ governors started taking the law into their own hands (literally that is, by enforcing the laws that the feds refuse to), what’s to stop them? It would mean Obama would have to make hard decisions and tough choices, and that’s kryptonite to him.

  6. I see it as a good thing. People are getting sick and tired of the illegals and are now pushing the politicos hard enough for them to feel it.
You can bet Perry tried to brush this off the same way Obama did. You can bet people held his feet to the fire the same way he did with Obama.
Sooner or later that border will be enforced. Sooner would be better rather than later, of course…

  7. Why worry about a few fence jumpers when there are millions coming in through the front door? I would take 2 Mexicans for every Arab they shipped back to the ME. More than a fair deal.
Taliban Heights is more than a accurate description of NE Calgary. Wake up people.

  8. To get the kind of POSITIVE attention needed to win the nomination Perry will have to turn the buses back to Mexico, and hope that Obama’s feds try to challenge/confront him on that. A direct, highly VISIBLE (as in TV news videos) blocking and turning back of busloads of illegals + feds trying to stop him / sue him will win him millions of fans … and if he could get Jan Brewer (the AZ Gov.) to do the same in her state, that would channel the illegals into the Dem states of NM and CA.
This has POTENTIAL for great political theater but I’m not betting on it playing out that way.

  9. In the immortal words from a line in the movie Planes Trains and Automobiles “YOU’RE GOING THE WRONG WAY!” If you really want to stem the flow of illegals, send the Texas National Guard to Washington DC not Mexico.

  10. Big things sometimes start small. Eric Holder will not like this. He will think about sending federal police to stop
the Texas National Guard. If he does, there will be overt conflict between the Feds and Texas.
Will Eric and Obama chicken out?

  11. Perry is a super RINO
will take 1 month to deploy , if at all.Hussein Soetoro, Reid, Piglosi ,Boo Hoo Boner will probably stop it

  12. I see that Governor Perry has decided his constituents want him to Do Something. Thus a bunch of Texas National Guard troopers will be moved from Point A to Point B at great expense, with vast fanfare and media coverage. The media will not cover them standing around smoking and kicking at the dirt for hours at Point B. Thus the Decisive will be seen as Doing Something even though he hasn’t actually done anything except waste a bunch of money and fuel.
This is why discipline is so important in modern armies. When a politician orders his officers to get a thousand guys kitted up in hot sweaty battle gear and make them stand around in the sun doing nothing for the cameras, you want to be sure they don’t get bored and wander off looking for wine women and song. Or just some shade.
I’ll become a Rick Perry fan after the Texas National Guard turns around its first thousand illegals and makes them walk back to Mexico. Until then, its just more of the security theater/clown circus.

  13. How long before Obams’s people parachute a thousand lawyers into Texas to stop him?
    As was done in Arizona.

  14. Don’t expect too much substantial action from Perry – this is the same guy that was all hot to punch the Trans nation corridor highway from Mexico to Canada through his state.
