   The scourge of our society.

2. I can certainly see allowing the deduction for abortion, provided it’s a liberal getting the abortion, but can’t see the clarinet lesson deduction.
   I mean,the licorice stick hasn’t been in vogue since Benny Goodman or Tommy Dorsey.
   Hm, 80,000 pages of tax code, seems a bit much.

The notion that a government it paying for abortions when it allows a tax deduction for them is based on the same twisted notion of accounting that the government is giving away “our” money when they don’t take money from those who have more than us. It’s a socialist brainwashing thing and it’s wrong.
   However, a government that allows tax deductions for abortions is effectively imposing a fine on people who don’t have abortions.

4. Sorry Tooner but by giving a tax deduction Big Gov is subsidizing the abortion with tax dollars, essentially forcing taxpayers to pay for them.
   When two income families making $250,000 a year get tax breaks for putting their kids in daycare they are taking it straight out of the pockets of the one income families who raise their own children.
   It is absurd.

6. Took a look at the list: you can find the equivalent of most of his “weird” deductions in Canadian tax law. And abortions may not be tax-deductible in Canada, but they are provided “free” which is a much better deal – financially speaking – for the woman.
