Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

What They Say About SDA
"Smalldeadanimals doesn't speak for the people of Saskatchewan" - Former Sask Premier Lorne Calvert
"I got so much traffic after your post my web host asked me to buy a larger traffic allowance." - Dr.Ross McKitrick
Holy hell, woman. When you send someone traffic, you send someone TRAFFIC.My hosting provider thought I was being DDoSed. - Sean McCormick
"The New York Times link to me yesterday [...] generated one-fifth of the traffic I normally get from a link from Small Dead Animals." - Kathy Shaidle
"You may be a nasty right winger, but you're not nasty all the time!" - Warren Kinsella
"Go back to collecting your welfare livelihood." - Michael E. Zilkowsky
Be very afraid – look south – this is how inept/corrupt/ malfeasant regimes come to power – when the 4th estate becomes part of the power structure and shows bias to political parties/leaders which will subsidize/patronize the dino media and legislaively/administratively punish its competition, the alternative media or dissenting voices.
Canada’s partisan dino media has taken a page right out of the new American fascism’s political play book in openly pimping regimes/leaders/agendas who are unfit for constitutional governance. They also “punish” dissent to their open bias and agendas – its a genetic trait of “progressia” (AKA intolerance of the new statist authoritarianism)
Hold on there. We all know that criminal sexual predation is far less severe than paying someone’s expenses (in the Alice in Wonerland Liberal media). Fun game…try and imagine a conservative close to Harper being criminally investigated for serial sexual offences, with a suspicion that Harper knew about it and did nothing. Now compare that with the media cover up for the shiny pony.
This is what it looks like when a corrupt political payola network comes under attack.
Did we think the power structure wouldn’t resist being rolled back? Did we think merely electing Conservatives to Parliament would be the end of it, we could get our taxes cut and just sit back?
We didn’t vote the way we were supposed to, so now the Big Boys are starting to take the gloves off. Anyone who dares run against them will be destroyed by law or by the media.
There is no human being in the world who is so squeaky clean they can withstand the kind of scrutiny that’s being leveled at the CPC these days. That’s because if they don’t find anything the media hounds will just make it up.
Harper himself appears to never have so much as shoplifted paperclips as a small boy, yet we still had WaferGate, didn’t we? Or WaferQuiddick as Kathy Shaidle would say. “He pocketed the sacramental cracker!!!” Which I found hysterically funny, coming as it did from a bunch of militantly atheist socialists. Kept them going for weeks, as I recall. If you Google “wafergate” you get >6700 hits.
What to do about it? Fight dirty, obviously. Undermine the media by depriving them of funds. Also known as: Turn off the TV.
Except for Ezra. Telling Chief Blair: “Shut up.” Awesome!
I’m all for playing dirty. Next time Justine shows up for a public appearance there should be a mob there throwing snowballs at him. Or better yet, lets show up and trash the CBC building in Toronto.
I’m waiting for Benjamin Levin’s ITO to be released too.
One of the most interesting aspects of the Rob Ford story is typically overlooked by the media-pundit glitterati: despite Ford’s rather, er, eccentricities and the resultant fallout, support for him among the general population has not bottomed out. An attempt is made to deflect from this issue by using the label “Ford Nation” which absolves them from trying to define what this supposed “nation” actually is. This is just as much a story about media’s lack of trust and credibility as it is the mayor’s.
Ezra smacks this one well over the center field fence.
He takes on the dino media (as Occam calls it) every day and now the police too. As a free thinking media star on a renegade network, he is the best at it. I expect the dino media (and the police?) will ignore facts and attack Ezra personally. I pray that Ezra stays on the air as I imagine there are many people scheming today on how to shut him up. I hope there are some hungry reporters ready to report on what Ezra has uncovered.
Rick “I hope there are some hungry reporters ready to report on what Ezra has uncovered.”
Dream on little dreamer. Remember that the climategate mainstream media story was about those low life nasty deniers stealing emails. What little that was reported wasn’t at all about the fraud perpetrated in those emails.
Whatever the media are doing it seems to be working…..for the Shiny Pony and his club according to recent polling by Ipsos-Reid, he’s well ahead. Should we start crying for Canada now or Canaduh later? We better all have an exit strategy if the mini equine wins, the country will go to pot in a trot.
Ezra is probably well aware that the police in Canada, through the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police, were bought and paid for via a $40 million “donation” by the Chretien government into the Chief’s pension fund.
It’s bloody disgraceful how the police have no sense of integrity when involved in an investigation, unless they’re covering for a Liberal.
We’re one election away from a total police state. Just vote for Justin or Angry Tom to complete the change.
The failure of the NDP and Liberals to call the police out on their shabby behaviour,is normal.
When the police bias changes,as it will, will they condone such selective abuses of authority and professional ethics when they are on the receiving end?
What do we need an association of police chiefs for? What do they do? Besides obstructing civilian oversight of policing.
Respect for the rights of canadians and law and order should have all politician calling for the firing of any serial abusers of legislative authority.
FWIW, I wouldn’t lose any sleep or shed any tears over it yet, Liz. It’s not working any better, or worse, really, than it has for the past few months. Have a look at Eric Grenier’s
http://www.threehundredeight.com/
Insofar as any of the polling or analysis thereof can be trusted, there’s some consistency, whether coincidental or not, between the Ipsos numbers and the polling averages for October, as compiled by Mr. Grenier, and some consistency again with the by-election results. And check out Mr. Grenier’s seat projection based on the Ipsos numbers.
Time will tell, of course. I can still remember the Gallup polling from 1976-1977 showing Joe Clark, at one point, with a 46-31 lead over Pierre Trudeau, in the midst of a real bribery scandal involving actual taxpayer money being used to grease the wheels of some Swiss business executives or other. Followed up a year later with 12 by-elections or something in 1978, mainly in Ontario, I think, where the PCs won 10 or something, with about 45 percent of the vote overall. And Trudeau said, inter alia, “I’d rather lose a few by-elections than lose a general election.” How did that all work out again, in the end? No matter.
I find Ezra’s commentary, which is excellent, more representative than persuasive, which it obviously is also.
BTW,Fontana was in court again today.
He will be tried by a judge as opposed to a jury.
Nothing to see here folks, but one egg is cheaper than a dozen.
Ever notice that when you look at a CBC poll that the side which would normally be associated with the Liberals is always about 1,000 votes ahead of the Con side – even if the poll has only been open for 30 seconds?
