Oswald was a Communist. Not a small c, “all we are saying is give peace a chance and let’s support Negro civil rights” kind of Communist, but someone so committed to the cause (and so blind to the nature of the USSR) that he actually went to live in the Soviet Union. And when that didn’t work out, Oswald became a great admirer of Castro. He apparently would have gone to live in Cuba before the assassination if the Cubans would have had him. Before assassinating Kennedy, Oswald tried to kill a retired right-wing general. As near as we can tell, he targeted Kennedy in revenge for Kennedy’s anti-Castro actions.
The attempt to at best distract us from who the killer was and why he killed JFK, and at worst to pin the blame on entirely innocent people for inciting Dallas opinion against JFK (or perhaps to imply that the right-wingers plotted the assassination), even though those innocents were exactly the type of people Oswald hated, is just pathetic, and the Times and Post should be embarrassed for publishing these pieces. The Post piece is especially embarrassing because it explicitly links Dallas “right-wing extremism” circa 1963 to the modern “Tea Party,” as if to say, “if the Tea Party had been around in 1963, one of its members would have killed Kennedy.”

When you live in a world dominated by fantasy for the present and future it’s not hard to fantasize about how the past should have been not what it was. In fact you have to do this in order to support your beliefs. Thus Hitler was a right wing fascist, Lincoln was a closet democrat and Oswald a tea party founder.
From 1872-1968(25 Presidential Elections), Texas swung Democrat for all but 3 of them, including voting Democrat in the 1960 election(Kennedy).
It wasn’t until 1980(Reagan) that Texas became a Republican state.
Worth remembering that Oswald went to the American embassy in Moscow and demanded to renounce his U.S. citizenship. The State Department official who interviewed him talked him out of it. In glennworld the embassy receptionist would have handed him a form, asked him politely to fill it out, attached his U.S. passport to the completed form and congratulated him on his new life. Then he/she would have had the new non-citizen escorted off U.S. property. But then I’m just harsh and judgmental.
Of course we all know that after LBJ the Democrats went from slightly left of center to centralized control.
JFK would be compared to Cruz today.
Today’s Republicans are somewhat left of the old Democrat Party.
Today’s Democrats are somewhat left of Stalin.
Southern democrats were at one time very right but voted dem due a long standing memory of the civil war
Oswald shot at General Walker in New Orleans, missed him, but caused a wound in his arm.

Then Jack Ruby, dying of cancer, small time Mafia associate, and friend of Carlos Marcello killed Oswald before he could tell the FBI that the Mafia had helped him kill JFK.
American leaders used murder to get rid of leaders in Vietnam, used the Mafia to try to kill leaders in Cuba but sometimes what goes around comes back home..
I’m surprised a NYT reporter didn’t shoot Kennedy as revenge for lowering taxes. Almost fell asleep doing the captcha – 3 z’s in a row.
Forgot to mention that Jimmy Hoffa was going to reveal the Mafia’s role in killing JFK unless they got him back leadership of the Teamsters Union.
But Hoffa ended up in a concrete shoe box and lost his voice.

So, since 50 years ago, the left has needed to manufacture one conspiracy after another in order for the death of JFK to make sense to them. It just didn’t fit their narrow and unintelligent narrative the world.
What they fail to mention or spend any time on is that Bobby Kennedy, JFK’s brother, was killed by a Christian Palestinian, Sirhan Sirhan, 5 years later in 1968. I ask you, why is there no need to create a conspiracy in order to explain that one?
Here’s the truth. Both Kennedy’s were shot by allies and friends of the Democrats. It must drive them nuts. Good.

The great civil rights leaders of the day were the Republican Eisenhower followed by the Democrat Johnson. Kennedy did diddly squat. The brave leadership in calling out the army to enforce civil rights – that was Eisenhower. The people the soldiers were protecting black kids from – those would be Democrats. People sure have selective memory – or creative memories?.

Likely true, doowleb. My point was that Dallas voted for Kennedy and was not a hotbed of “right-wing extremism” circa 1963. Texas swung Democrat in ’64 and ’68 too.

Then there was one Dan Rather. Rather went on the television saying that children had “stood up and cheered” in a Dallas school. This when the death of JFK was announced by the Principle.
In fact, the Principle of the school had not wished to upset the children. He had assembled the kids and said that due to a special reason, they could all go home. The kids cheered. Just like any kids would.
A Bob Shieffer posed as a detective and drove Oswald’s mother to Dallas. He has said defensively that his “snap brim hat” gave him the appearance of a detective. He did not disavow anyone of their impression.
What a blow in the face for the leftist press on learning of who Oswald was.
Watching the ceremonies in Dallas today and beholding the disgraceful sight of venal democrats speechifying about Kennedy AS IF THEY KNEW HIM. Spewing revisionist stories, steeped in their own special delusions and lies. Hoping to bask in the imagined glory of a legend had nothing to do with the man Kennedy they bloviated on and on.

I read an interesting item today (National Post, I think) that if Lee Harvey Oswald was around today, he probably would have been diagnosed with schizophrenia. He showed a lot of the signs — restlessness that left him unable to hold a job, delusional, agitated, and given to violent outbursts such as wife beating. Once diagnosed, he would have been treated and history might have been a whole lot different.
I’m not one for conspiracies, and I don’t believe there was one with JFKs assasination. The only thing that strikes me as odd about the whole thing is why Ruby would kill Oswald. That has always struck me as a bit odd.
Ruby was apparently,a hothead. Maybe looking for his 15 minutes of fame?

Maybe the Dems would cease their revisionist meandering about JFK if they realized his politics were right of both the current Dems and GOP. JFK instituted tax cuts in the US that presaged an economic boom. Do the Dems propose to do the same thing? Didn’t think so.
I’m still trying to figure out what a foreign leader being shot 50 years ago in another country has to do with anything.
