  1. Zero & The Demoncrats don’t care, they bought enough time to get reelected, now GM and Detroit can fade away, the MSM will never report it and if anyone highlights the hypocrisy , all 3 parties will blame George Bush.
Wonderful footage, it gives a great sense of the ruin.
Does any private tour company offer armoured limo tours of Detroit?
Or armed limo tours, looks like an opportunity to me.
Ontarions can tour to see the future.
As for the billions flushed, they will yawn and print more.

  2. For into the pole lights for copper wires stolen = 1500 poles this month ~ it’s bad dark from Detroit! Flint is bad too. Well in about 80% for Democrats.

  3. The land of opportunity. Yes, it is still that.
If Michigan’s government were to grant a 100 year lease of the vacated area of Detroit to the state of Israel, it would be a thriving community within 5 years.
Within ten years, the entire state would be solvent again.

  4. Heh, provided there were forgivable loans and other aid. Also obligations to purchase products built using forgivable loans and aid…etc, etc.

  5. This urban degradation brought to you by the United Auto Workers and by Democrats of Illinois, the most corrupt and inept group of political kleptocrats this side of Kabul.

  6. The destruction of an entire city. Well done, Democrats and progressives.
Imagine, the rest of us, the incredible waste represented by this, a huge functioning industrial city… the only good news is that most of the assets human and machine left for elsewhere.
“f Michigan’s government were to grant a 100 year lease of the vacated area of Detroit to the state of Israel, it would be a thriving community within 5 years.
Within ten years, the entire state would be solvent again.”
Pfft. Give it to me, or frankly anyone with a no-nonsense, don’t eff with me, “everyone siddown and shut up” mandate and it would be great.
To bring Detroit down took 50 years of sustained idiocy.

  7. “Going to the dogs.”
Those dogs will likely eat him in a few years for the irony.

  8. Speaking of great moments in Communism, CNN has just announced that Hugo Chavez has slipped the surely bonds. Hasta la vista A$$HOLE!

  9. Among the delights of the Christian martyrs to communism is the spectacle of the torments of unrepentant communists in hell. That sound you hear is the sound of the rejoicing of the angels and saints at Chavez’s father in hell reclaiming him, the martyrs to communism most of all.
Give thanks to the Lord for He is good. Pray that He now restore to Venezuela her freedom, and quickly.

  10. cbc in mourning over Chavez! Chretien calls in to P&P to express his condolences, says ‘he was a nice guy!’ Blech.

  11. Venuzuela is entering a period of instability.
One of the characteristics of efficient tyrants is that they have eliminated any competant successors.
Eg Stalin went to the trouble and expense of having Trotsky whacked although he was exiled in Mexico City. When he finally did die, rumoured poisoned, Beria attempted to seize control….but Bulganin and Krushchev had him whacked.
Cuba will have a power vacuum with the demise of the Castros.
Iraq is a textbook example….even though an exile was imported, Iraq still lacks any competant leadership.

  12. This scene is reminiscent of the Lords of the Rings, where the degenerate offspring of ancient lords live roughly amid the ruins of long-gone empires.

  13. I look forward to the benevolent leadership of Hugo’s brother Adan, who views democracy (such as it is in Venezuela) as a serious impediment to the advancement of the revolution.

  14. RJ …Rentals…
The facility was rented out piecemeal for commercial tennants. Others bought buildings and lot space. The rentals were terminated at that point.
After you get over the fact that Detroit has been unable to bring any usefull purpose to the derelict plant or property, it is hardly worth lamenting. Packard was finished in 1958 and this plant was no longer viable or sustainable at that point. The city should have had it demolished then.
Did you notice BTW that our buddy here Alan is a self sufficient sort?
After all the parasites and rats are gone … just peace and quiet for one lone guy and his dogs.

  15. I used to do alot of work for a developer in Philly who converts these industrial wrecks into loft apartments, although it looks like these structures might be too far gone. The buildings “have great bones” as he would say. The tall windows, high ceilings, thick walls make for epic apartments. We cut the center out of an old GE plant in West Philly, it now serves as grad apartments for UPenn students. They were great projects to be a part of, taking an old building and bringing them back to life.

  16. I am more convinced than ever there is an underground vault hidden somewhere in Detroit.
    War. War never changes.

  17. Allen is utilizing the abandoned assets of the rust belt far better than the army of socialist technocrat who lament the city’s decay and offer nothing more in the solution department. Take good lock at Alan – THIS is what socialists mean when they talk about “austerity” programs.

  18. So when is the pig Michael Moore going to make a documentary about the destroying of Detroit like he did for Flint???

  19. Here I thought “Life After People” was a pseudo-scientific (both natural and applied) projection, based on the study of real but isolated examples of decay in the built environment. It didn’t occur to me (until “Gran Torino”) that LAP is actually about a place not 2 1/2 hours’ drive from where I live.
It’s ponderous, really, that some people actually think that Ontario, on current form, will be completely immune to this fate.

  20. Hotrod magazine did an article on the Packard plant in Detriot, at one point the factory was literally a continuous mile in length. Only about a half mile remains standing.
