70 Replies to “How Deep, Señor Chavez?”

  1. I’d say something like,”God rest his soul”, but Chavez ain’t goin’ there.

  2. I don’t usually dance on a mans grave, but for Chavez, I’ll add it to my todo list.

  3. So what’s the big deal? We all know that Seah Penn and Madonna will be devastated and Hollywood will declare a week of morning with their flag poles at half mast.
This is no big deals to libruls, marxists and dhimocrapts. Why even in Northern America we have a history of dead people voting, electing dead people, etc. I Southern America Eva Peron was stuffed and presented at evening get-togethers, where I’m sure she contributed more to the conversation than her marxist friends. Why, golly gee, with these precedents, Chavez can reign as president for life and an additional seven years.

  4. Well, Canada got lots of good Venezuelans into the oil industry in the last few years. We could thank him for that.

  5. Oh, he will, TJ. As I said elsewhere, among the delights enjoyed by Christian martyrs to communism will be the spectacle of his torments in hell alongside Joseph Stalin and Che Guevara. Today the angels and saints are rejoicing, and the martyrs to communism most of all.
Back on earth, this is a great day not just for Venezuela but also for Cuba, whose communist regime have been propped up on Venezuelan oil money for some time now. Pray for the liberation of Venezuela and Cuba from communism, and that the liberation come soon.

  6. Well, we know he’s in……what’s that other short little word for “Socialist Heaven”?

  7. Just read the comments on CBC. These people are completely devastated at the news. I cannot believe there were so many morons walking among us.

  8. Greg Gutfeld on FoxNews’ show “The Five”, made the comment asking (paraphrased), Why is it that self-styled defenders of the poor always create more poor people than when they became leaders.
The names escape me at the moment, but Sean Penn is not the only Hollywood moron that will lament the communist Chavez’s death.

  9. Damn. Now I gotta unload all my shares in Caterpillar.Oh well.It was a good run.

  10. Venezuela’s Chavez ‘Still’ Smells Sulfur After Obama Speech
    http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,580503,00.html#ixzz2MhzvRQck
Combative in olive green uniform and red beret, Mr. Chavez called his opponents “degenerates” and “squealing pigs,” referred to the Catholic Church hierarchy as “devils in vestments” and labeled critics “counterrevolutionaries.”

Given that Venezuela is a large producer of ‘sour crude oil’ which contains a significant amount of sulphur, one can only suggest that Mr. Chavez has some experience in breathing sulphur fumes.
One wonders whether he had the good sense to begin praying, Lord knows he had plenty of warning.

In the early part of his government, Mr. Chavez had met on an airplane with the writer Gabriel Garcia Marquez. The two spoke for hours, and the conversation left a telling impression on the author.
“I was overwhelmed by the feeling that I had just been traveling and chatting pleasantly with two opposing men,” Garcia Marquez later wrote in a profile of Mr. Chavez. “One to whom the caprices of fate had given an opportunity to save his country. The other, an illusionist, who could pass into the history books as just another despot.”

  11. If only the McCarthy trials had the CBC talk back forum and rabble.ca to gather evidence. *sigh*

  12. and he had emassed a personal fortune of 2 billion dollars, who’da thunk, with all the cheep oil he was giving away

  13. So Chavez liked baseball even though the game epitomized America and capitalism. At least he had one redeeming quality. One has to wonder what would have transpired if Chavez had been a better pitcher and had made the major leagues. Would he have continued his love affair with socialism? I really doubt it. It’s too bad that he wasn’t more successful on the mound. The world would have been a better place.

  14. Rick is right, the comments on CBC tell you just what kind of moron supports the CBC. The top posted comments right now:
“despite what the western world says about him he did a lot for his country. condolences to the people of venezuela”
“Say what you may about this man, but he cared for the poor and the disadvantaged of his country.”
“God bless Hugo Chavez and Venezuela. May the struggle for social justice continue.”
    “RIP Comrade”
“This is a sad day, indeed. He is a hero of mine.”

  15. On occasions like this the saying De mortuis nil nisi bonum dicendum est. is temporarily not in effect.

  16. The only surplus of anything left in the post Chavez regime is an infinite pit of lefties ready to take his place.

  17. Excellent. With one move, Chavez makes both Earth and Hell better places.
To the living we owe respect, but to the dead we owe only the truth.

  18. “he cared for the poor and the disadvantaged of his country.”
…and did his damndest to increase their number, too.

  19. CNN likewise had fauning memorial style comments on his charisma and style.
As if a lowlife thug is praiseworthy.

  20. Has shining pony offered up his eulogy yet? Will he compare him to that other ‘intellectual giant’ Castro?

  21. A couple of quotes from articles over on Drudge….
“He compared the situation to the death of the Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat, claiming Arafat was ‘inoculated with an illness’.” – so said VP Maduro..
    Also,
“died March 5 in Caracas of complications from an unspecified cancer in his pelvic area”
Make of that what you will.

  22. “Ah, Mr. Chavez – welcome. We have reserved a spot for you, soon to be shared with your closest earthly companions – Fidel, and good ol’ Mr. Dinnerjacket – we can’t even pronounce his name here either. OK Saddam, get over to the side to make room…”
As the Spanish saying goes, “You can do whatever you want – you just have to pay for it”, says God.
For those who pray, pray for the people of Venezuela – they’re going to need it.

  23. torstar
“He loved to play the fool. That way, his adversaries would more readily underestimate him — and, time and again, they did just that…. ”
    Commies love themselves very much.

  24. Well it doesn’t look like the country is now in the hands of level headed people. The Vice-President is accusing the USA of poisoning dear comrade Hugo with cancer.
“We have no doubt that Commandant Chávez was attacked with this illness, we have not a single doubt,” Maduro said. “The established enemies of our land specifically tried to harm the health of our leader.”
Maduro said he will order the creation of a “scientific commission” to look at this alleged conspiracy that Chávez was sickened through medical means.” that’s at latino.foxnews.com

  25. I remember seeing a news story about how Chavez seized control of the Exito supermarkets in anticipation of food riots when he expected his socialist policies to cause food shortages. He actually placed armed soldiers in the supermarkets! Fortunately the food shortages never happened but the fact that he was willing to use violence to control the food supply speaks volumes about his tyrannical nature. Rest in peace, Hugo. I hope you remembered to bring your marshmallows.

  26. Nothing characterizes a socialist more than hypocrisy. According to new estimates, the Chavez family is US $2 billion richer as a result of seizing power. And his associates are said to have misappropriated another US $98 billion of Venezuela oil revenues since 1999.
    Same game…different venue.
May Chavez rot in hell…hopefully Castro will join him shortly…

  27. Not much justice in the world, but today we got some. Will be interesting to see what comes next.

  28. I cannot read the comments at Torstar / CBC. The comments at some of the websites hosted by those that had to actually tolerate (or as Miguel in the below blog, leave the country) Chavez are more telling. It’s easier to watch with starry eyes from the distance, how you’d like another country to be run than to have to find enough meat, milk and toilet paper within the country.
