Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

My favorite part:
“But many Inuit communities said the researchers were wrong. They said the bear population was increasing and they cited reports from hunters who kept seeing more bears. ”
Suzuki’s Christmas Campaign must have been a success. The bears are saved!

I find it hilarious that virtually all the comments in the Slop & Pail are ridiculing the warmists.
I flew a polar bear survey many years ago up the East side of Hudson’s Bay; we saw more on that one flight than the Quebec wildlife “experts” who came along had ever seen. They had previously done the survey in a slow and noisy helicopter which probably scared away the bears, we did it low and fast with fixed wings.
“Andrew Derocher, a professor of biological sciences at the University of Alberta who has been studying polar-bear populations for years.”
Doesn’t know shit about Bears, why does he have a JOB! Nice to be constantly wrong and get paid! The U of A should send him for remedial education, bet he has a Foreign grant connection to U of PENN
This evening I saw an ad on TV for a new Suzuki program about how will the Polar Bears survive without any snow.
This guy and his ILK should go away and leave mother nature to do her work.
Was up in Rankin Inlet for a couple weeks this past Feb. You want to get a normally stoic Inuk riled up just bring up Peta, these southern “experts” as mentioned in the article, or the European activists. They don’t suffer from Bambi syndrome or view the bear as an endangered global warming poster child up there. A polar bear is viewed primarily as a killer, secondly a hide, thirdly as meat.
Wish I took a pic of it… a neighbour actually had a fresh polar bear hide drying over his front step railing. One of the guys I worked with said they make for a great pair of hunting pants. Mentioned that several of his relatives had some, so much nicer than Caribou in that they’re warmer, more durable, and don’t shed.
I saw a story on the TV news the other day, probably Global TV Toronto, about how the MNR had to kill a polar bear in the Newfoundland northern peninsula because it was breaking into peoples houses and hunting people. It said that this was becoming a real problem up there as bear/ human interactions were increasing. It was news to me that there are polar bears on the main islands of NFLD but apparently they are reletively common and becoming more so.
NON-RESIDENT HUNTING LICENSE $50.00 C
POLAR BEAR TROPHY FEE $750.00 C
MUSK OX TROPHY FEE $150.00 C
and they make great trophy’s stuffed and put in the corner
Wow. Polar bears must be the most amazing animals on the planet. The norm, as I understand it, is for animals to stuff themselves during the warm summer and fall, to have a caloric reserve to last the for the winter. Polar bears, apparently, can’t feed during the summer months due to a lack of sea ice, and so starve, fattening themselves during the harsh Arctic winter so they can survive the lean summers. No wonder the scientists are so fascinated! This is really astounding behaviour, and when we learn to understand it, will probably help cure cancer, restrain obesity, and save the children.
Save the polar bears!
These alarmist dopes are probably the same ones who couldn’t find a 1/4 million caribou, and figured global warming did them all in. Just so happened they decided to be somewhere else. As the locals said,” They move, it’s what they do”
Funny . . every Greenpeace and WWF press release that “journalists” republished as “news” said the polar bears were dying off.
Do you think that environmentalists are not the good, honest truth seeking people they claim to be, but really skanky, cheating con artists who do anything, say anything to raise a $Buck?
Somebody needs to get this information to Jose Canseco as quickly as possible.
The Glob has invested more ink into shoving this great SCAM down their dwindling readers than most pathetic media parrots, other than the grandaddy of SCAM purveyors the CBC. Hard to back away from a mistake of this magnitude, like anyone who gets scammed by a con artist or a money huckster, they rarely want to talk about it, well the media is in the talking business, and when they outright lie, and publish BS, and SCAM artists like Suzuker and Gore make millions off their promoting of that lie, why is it any different that Madoff? Only a moron would’ve believed the phoney premise of “global warming” from the start, where does that leave the media.
Another day – another debunked AGW lie. This is getting monotonous. Why do the polis cling to this AGW myth so doggedly?
It wouldn’t be because manufactured crisis are good for expanding government size and power?
The “Environmental Alarmist” business is HUGE.
Here’s an example of a Suzuki project funded by (get ready for this!) The BRITISH Foreign Office!!!
Project Title: Canadians working for climate solutions.
Project Purpose: To identify key audiences in Canada that have ethnic or cultural ties to countries most vulnerable to the effects of climate change, and build an effective engagement campaign to mobilize and educate these populations to become advocates in the drive for climate change solutions.
Project Partner: David Suzuki Foundation
A grateful nation thanks the Brits for helping us out on this one!
Oh yes, the Brits are also meddling with this vital Canadian project: “Launch of emissions trading scheme in British Columbia, which creates an ambitious and compatible model, which is then fed into the development of the Federal ETS.”

The Polar Bear population is not shrinking; they are moving down to Hollywood to make Superbowl commercials for Coke.
“Another day – another debunked AGW lie. This is getting monotonous. Why do the polis cling to this AGW myth so doggedly?”
One word: TAXES.
I am always amazed at the arrogance of the “educated classes” who tell the Inuit that their observations are wrong. These clowns visit the North once a year but figure they know the situation better then the folks who live there.
Bloody amazing.
Polar bears are quite happy on land. Churchill Manitoba has quite a few, I hear. As does the Northern Peninsula of Newfoundland right now, though these are not permanent residents. They’ve come down on the ice (which doesn’t exist – truly they are miraculous creatures). The first to be shot whiled away the boredom by killing (and not eating) a few smaller animals such as sheep.
I guess my drinking coca-cola really helped. /sarc off
The 1,013 polar bear listed in the G&M article are the numbers actually, physically counted, and not every bear can be counted from aerial transects. A reasonable estimate of total Foxe Basin bear population should fall somewhere between 2 and 3 thousand.
Let’s think:
1) At one time, all bears were land animals.
2) When weather got colder, one adventurous type of bear adapted and then evolved to live on the ice for part of the year.
3) Now that the weather is warming, and the ice is less plentiful, the same bear is adapting to living back on the land, where
4) because of warmer weather, more plants are growing for longer periods,
5)thus providing more food for smaller animals,
6)which in turn provides more food for carnivores like polar bears.
7) As a result, polar bears are thriving.
8) Common sense. (The opposite of which is Suzuki Sense)
Let’s see…. who else doesn’t believe in climate change…..Sarah Palin, Michelle Bachman, Christine O’Donnell, Rick Perry, that banjo playing dude from Deliverance, my dog. Quite the roster of geniuses! And who does believe in climate change? The evil lefties of course!! Oh and 97% of climate scientists!
