  1. Et tu, Maher?
The similarities between the U.S.A and Canada are striking!
There are more “Horses Asses” in both countries than there are Horses!!

  2. What has become crystal clear over the years is that Men of the Rabid Left hate women generally and much more so, conservative women. Bill Maher is a perfect example: He is well known for going out with the skankiest women, doing his business with them a few times, and then moving on to the next conquest. It seems apparent that his deep-seated hatred (there’s no other appropriate word) for Sarah Palin has everything to do with her good looks and great values and that he intuitively knows that a woman like her would never give him the time of day.

“It seems apparent that his deep-seated hatred (there’s no other appropriate word) for Sarah Palin has everything to do with her good looks and great values and that he intuitively knows that a woman like her would never give him the time of day.”
Not just Maher….that goes for Letterman, and all the other Obamanauts…..
    That and fear……..

  4. That truly is disgusting. Even more disgusting is the reaction that would no doubt come from the enlightened intellectuals should that same invective be directed toward one of their own. It has no place in civilized discussion. Ever.

  5. Robert – here’s what Maher’s former girlfriend Karrine Steffans had to say about him: “Bill wants someone he can put down in an argument, tell you how ghetto you are, how big your butt is, and that you’re an idiot. That’s why you never see him with a white girl or an intellectual. I might as well have been a Muslim woman with my head wrapped, walking 10 paces behind my man.”
Gawd, I hate watching footage of that talentless, hideous, unfunny, execrable little midget. I’ll forgive you this time, SDA.

  6. I liked one thing about Maher: he mocked and ejected “Truthers” during his show. But that doesn’t compensate for everything else about him, especially that idiotic movie he made. At the end of the day, just another bottom-feeding pseudointellectual leftist horse’s ass.

  7. Bill Maher is – and I mean this literally, I’m not exaggerating – the only person extant that I can’t even stand to look at. There’s something profoundly, deeply repulsive about the guy, like he’s desperate to crawl out of his own skin but he’s just too stupid by just this much, and too morally defiled, to realize it.
I hope conservatives continue to hold themselves to a higher standard than that set by slimy leftist dolts like Maher and Letterman.

  8. I find it difficult not to throw up when I watch or listen to the gutter swill mouthed by that man.

  9. Paraphrasing Ayn Rand, “to laugh at the virtuous is contemptible and to laugh at the contemptible, a virtue”. The character traits of Palin and Bachmann that Maher despises, most people would consider as their virtues.
Obama is a sad joke on the USA and this contemptible weasel buddy of his deserves to be associated with him. We should not be striving to have Obama’s super pac give Maher’s money back because Obama should wear Maher (and his politics masquerading as degenerate humor) as a badge of filth instead of honor. Behind closed doors does anyone doubt that Obama and his associates all talk like Maher? Conservatives must stop pretending that Obama is basically a decent character and that he just needs a little assistance and he will do the right thing. He’s not and he won’t!

  10. Those who listen to Dennis Miller’s show know that he is in a conundrum these days about Maher. Apparently they’ve been close friends since Miller was 25 (he’s now 58). And they rarely talk politics because they know they don’t agree on anything of that ilk. But as caller after caller point out what truly despicable things Maher has been saying, it’s getting tougher & tougher for Miller to stay neutral.

  11. Sure, it’s not like anyone around these parts would call women they disagree with, like the STOP HARPER senate page, a b*tch or c*nt.
IMO, both the left and right are too quick to reach for gender-specific slurs. Maher and ‘progressive’ men are worse but conservatives (self-righteous SoCons,in particular) are only a few notches below them on that scale.
As long as Team Red and Team Blue get their kicks throwing poo and each other, the real problems are never properly addressed. The Tea Party had the right idea – focus more on real issues and less on partisan nonsense.

  12. Maher Letterman and the rest of those bottom feeding shit rats are typical of the lefty scum. They have “so called” gut as long as they are behind a microphone thousands of mile from their topics. If they were face to face with the people they badmouth they would have no where the balls to repeat any of their filth .

  13. But as caller after caller point out what truly despicable things Maher has been saying, it’s getting tougher & tougher for Miller to stay neutral.

Now isn’t that a co-incidence. Only today I had what could be a final fallout with another liberal “friend” over this hateful Palin and Bachmann-bashing. And Santorum and Romney too. He actually cheered those online attempts to link the latters’ names to perverted acts and to ramp it up the search rankings at google.
There are certain minimum standards I require in a friend. I CANNOT remain a friend of an anti-semite nor a man who participates in vicious smears on honourable women.
I really like what Sarah Palin told Hannity after he asked her to comment on a clip of Maher calling her the C word and why Obama hadn’t called her: “Well, everyone knows that President Obama is not a man of valour”. PERFECT.
On second thought, EBD is right to counsel us not to descend into this tit-for-tat viciousness. We do need to take the high road. Winning through the gutter is not a victory to be proud of. I’m reversing my earlier view that Rush should not have apologized.

  14. I don’t see any reason for this being in the news…
Seems like a pretty lame effort to throw muck at the dope in the Whitehouse. Hardly worth the effort……….
Knowing Maher’s penchant for shooting his mouth off …. hating anything and anyone who has an opinion other than his own … constant displays of smug self importance …. and all the tells he displays of a damaged little man … who really gives a crap what he says?
As for any political organization giving money back … hahahahaha.
This sort of thing is just the low hanging fruit … or rather … apples that fell on the ground and rotted all on their own. More suited to sweeping into a shovel and dumping in the compost than to putting on display or commenting about.
As for Obama contacting that woman …. that act in itself was the problem …Obama is a clown.

  15. That was Bill Maher? Unlike Dorion Grey I guess his portrait has stopped functioning correctly.

  16. LC Bennett @ 8:21pm : I believe you’re being sincere with your comment but, respectfully, I just don’t think the moral equivalency is true in this case. Perhaps some on here did use a bad word or two to describe Ms. DePape but there’s no way it was the majority of people.
Since I referenced Dennis Miller earlier, let me defer to him again. He has frequently said something akin to the following [paraphrasing] : “I have been on the Left and now am on the Right. Bad things are said by members of both side but there’s absolutely no comparison on the Right to unending hatred and wicked vitriol that comes out of the mouths of the Left.”
In the future, on any given subject, take a look at the comments here on SDA and compare them with what’s said at the Daily Kos or CBC News. You’ll find that Miller’s assertion is proven true time after time after time.

  17. I have this long standing desire to see Maher bump into Todd Palin. It would be interesting for this small man attempt to backpedal when confronted by an angry husband. I know what I would do………..

  18. Robert, well said and maybe a cautionary reminder comment should be occasionally made by our hostess and her guests and backed up by deleting offending comments.

  19. If they call Rush Limbaugh the de facto leader of the right, then Maher is certainly the de facto leader of the left.
Maher is a pig. plain and simple. I don’t think there is one thing to like about the man.

  20. I do take a close look at the comments, Robert. In fact, that is one of the reasons I went from being a regular poster to an occasional poster. Although that is also partly due to realizing that libertarianism is a better fit for me than conservatism (another big no-no, apparently).
Re-read the STOP HARPER thread. As I proceeded to read the comments that day, I fully expected someone would eventually confront the posters about their language but no one did. To me, there is not a big degree of difference between engaging in misogynistic behavior and not having the balls to say you disagree with it. I understand that this is the typical “go along to get along” mentality to maintain membership in a group but if you’re going to do that then reconsider throwing stones at the other side for doing the same thing.

  21. LC Bennett – Apparently you dislike “self-righteous” social conservatives like, well … Palin. Sounds a bit self righteous on your part. Perhaps atheists and libertarians would make a better fit?

  22. ” Sure, it’s not like anyone around these parts would call women they disagree with, like the STOP HARPER senate page, a b*tch or c*nt. ”
I don’t remember Kate using either of those words to describe the silly Senate page,or ever using the ‘c’ word.
Maher did. Your comparison is not valid.

  23. I’m going to contact Shaw again tomorrow. Unfortunately, they ‘bundle’ HBO with other products and if you want one you get the other, like it or not. I’m now at the point where I’ll do without ‘the other’ in order to get HBO taken off my monthly bill.
I’ve also contacted HBO to tell them I’ll be doing so. As an extra, I’ve sent the ShePac advert on to scores of friends who hopefully will then do likewise – surely it’ll get sent to some of their more ‘liberal’ minded friends, too.
Spread the word folks, spread the word.

  24. BTW, I note that “Comments are closed” for the YouTube of the ShePac video.
Thats Google for you. Comments always open when a video attacks conservative values, but closed otherwise.

  25. Here’s the thing, Kate.
Limbaugh calls a woman a slut and prostitute to (try to) shame her for speaking out, and to stop other women from asserting their freedom and right to speak out.
Like so many of you right-wing types, he’s like a Western version of the Taliban.
He’s the de facto leader of the Republican Party whom no Republican dares to contradict, a friend of Bush Sr. and Jr. and was a private luncheon guest of George W. Bush in the White House.
And Maher’s …a comedian. Like Carrot Top, Louis CK and Ray Romano…
But good on ya for posting this video. Shows that you know Limbaugh did something *really* wrong and you’re in CYA mode. Good. It’s a start.
Now: the process of purging your party of the misogyny of sexually screwed up middle-aged men. Can ya do it?

  26. Here’s the thing, joe: every word you type proves you have the brains of a pissant.
“Right-wing types” – Polly wanna cracker, you zombie brain-fart hive-mind retardate.

  27. I wonder why her boyfriend wasn’t sitting beside her when she testified. After all, it’s his birth control they want covered as well.

  28. C’mon, joe, Limbaugh did it once, and we all know what the reaction was. Now, you watched the video Kate posted — I assume you did, or you wouldn’t have commented, right? — so where’s the condemnation coming from the left to these far more vile and frequent insults?
You know, joe, that a popular Conservative network talk show host, whether he was a “humourist” or not, would never get away with calling Michelle Obama a whore (Letterman) or a bitch or a c**t (Maher). Why is that, joe? Why do famous leftist/Dem hosts get away with saying these kind of things, but conservatives don’t?
C’mon, joe, you can say it. I know you can.

  29. So Joe, you think the stuff Maher said about Palin and her son was funny? Are you excusing what he said? Was it OK for him to say that? He talks politics just as much as Rush.
I would say I am shocked at your hypocrisy, but that’s the calling card of the left. So, no, I’m not.
As I said earlier….if Limbaugh (a talk show host, a political commentator, an entertainer) is considered the de facto leader of the Republicans, then Maher (a comedian, political commentator and entertainer) could also be considered the de facto leader of the Dems.
Of course its equatable. To not see that is true hypocrisy. Do you not admit Maher was in the wrong by saying those things?
    It truly boggles the mind.

  30. and after viewing that and hearing what Maher has said about women, how can you NOT call that mysogyny?? Good grief. Are you frickin blind/deaf??

  31. EBD – it’s different because Maher’s a comedian. You can tell by how funny he is. He doesn’t expect annyone to take him seriously and if he has a political agenda he keeps it to himself.
(As Jim Treacher said regarding Jon Stewart, it’s “clown nose on, clown nose off”.)

  32. @LC Bennett – I don’t think it’s useful to think of the current situation as comparable to a neutral, normatively competitive capture-the-flag scenario or high school debate club. Terms like “left” and “right” are IMO equally meaningless. Let’s talk instead of hordes of bloodsucking brainwashed imbeciles versus a (thankfully) growing movement of thinking, civil human beings. Being honest enough to frame the discourse in terms that actually have some validity might help put things in perspective.
*They* have no difficulty at all with regarding us as some kind of army of identical black-clad Fascists; let the mirror be held up to them and the favour, as it were, returned.

  33. That’s a great line about Stewart. It’s “now I’m being hip/ironic, now I’m addressing a really serious issue, now I’m being half serious (giggle), now I’m being really serious and wise, now I’m being a post-ironic hipster” — all in the course of one sentence.

  34. @Black mamba – your sarcasm is so subtle I almost thought you meant it when you said “you can tell by how funny he is”. 🙂

  35. i would love to turn on my computer one day to be presented with a viral video of that camel faced midget being hit by a taxi driven by a “new-American”.. Laughter would ensue.

  36. LC Bennet, I understand what you mean at 8:21 PM but with Bill Maher et al, what you see is what you get. He is but one troll (along with joe at 11:20, apparently) out of many. With the left, resorting to complete ugliness is a feature, not a bug. They don’t want the real discussed at all and their behaviour seems to be its own topic.

  37. If you’d like some more evidence of Leftist men who despise conservative women, look no further than the Globe & Mail’s John Doyle. Last month he decided to attack Krista Erickson in a rather creepy way. Yesterday he was on the warpath against Patricia Heaton.
For a man to have so much animus towards women of a particular political bent is weird, isn’t it? Perhaps he has more than a few unresolved “mommy” issues?!

  38. LC Bennett @ 10:03pm:
I do understand what you’re saying. I truly do. For example, on a past post about police officers, I vehemently disagreed with many of the commenters, who had some pretty negative things to say about the police. I didn’t “go along with the crowd” and spoke my mind.
Wrt Brigitte DePape I just did some research. Turns out that I was the one who added the initial post. A quick search through the many comments reveals the B-word used once against her. I stand to be corrected but that’s all I could find.
More than anything, I think people were just upset that this very privileged young gal would have the audacity to do something so disrespectful. But even so, restraint was the order of the day.
Going back to the original point, misogynistic men of the Left feel no need to restrain their public comments. I think a big reason for this is that they intuitively know that they’ll rarely, if ever, be called to account for anything they say. In their world, it seems that it’s become politically incorrect to ever say anything against a hateful Leftist.

  39. “Limbaugh calls a woman a slut and prostitute to (try to) shame her for speaking out, and to stop other women from asserting their freedom and right to speak out.”
    Ummm…no Joe.
Limbaugh called her those things because she wants to f*** on the taxpayer’s dime!

  40. how anyone can consider this bottom feeder funny is beyond me.
a snake stands higher than mar ever will.
…he isn’t worthy to be called a man.
hbo, cable company and the advertisers need to hear from us!
find out who they are and boycott them.

  41. I’m waiting for the results of Bills piss test before I comment.
    Still waiting….

  42. I wonder why her boyfriend wasn’t sitting beside her when she testified. After all, it’s his birth control they want covered as well.
Maybe they didn’t have enough chairs.

  43. I think a big reason for this is that they intuitively know that they’ll rarely, if ever, be called to account for anything they say. In their world, it seems that it’s become politically incorrect to ever say anything against a hateful Leftist.

You’ve fingered the core of my conflict with a liberal “friend”. This friend belately sez politics should be kept out of the relationship. Good advice usually. However, it gradually dawned on me that he didn’t keep his politics out. Despite knowing that I was rabidly right/libertarian, I got to listen to the Palin smears, the Michele Bachmann smears; about the online efforts to associate Santorum and Romney’s name with negative acts (To Romney means to defecate in terror as apparently he transported his dog in a kennel on the roof of his car once). I got to hear about the GLBT (puke) agenda. I got to hear about political philosopher Jon Stewart. I got to hear about how wonderful Michael Moore was for tweeting, on the very day, that Sarah Palin was responsible for the shooting of Gabriel Gifford. And I got to hear that Fox needs to be shut down ‘cos of all the incivility it brought to political discource. (WTF!?). Oh, and I got to hear that Glenn Beck was dangerous and — gasp! — an anti-semite.
And then I got to realize, ‘heh, I’m doing all the walking on eggshells, here … I don’t walk on eggshells for anyone’ so I let loose singing, “I Gotta be Me”.

  44. I have two daughters whom I dearly love. However, I was not particularly upset by Rush’s remarks re Ms Fluke—Flake?
It’s a fact that she’s a big-time POLITICAL “slut” and “prostitute” and, by this political ACTIVIST’S entitled, Mary Antoinette attitude, that she should, in effect, be paid, by others, in order to have sex, puts her in the exact position for someone to make the connection that Rush did. This radical feminist is a slick operator and opportunist of the highest order. I have zero sympathy for her. (Rush should, perhaps, have made a disclaimer and/or used language like “By asking for money to support her sex habit, it’s AS IF she were . . .” His metaphor, versus a simile, was not the best idea. However, any kind of accommodation is lost on lefties, anyway.)
I’m all for civility. Like every conservative woman here, I’ve been given the Sarah Palin treatment by lefties. What I’m not for is the despicable double standard. (I respect MND’s change of heart re Rush’s apology—but I’m not there yet, if ever.) I believe Rush should have pulled a “Newt” on the hypocrites: turn the tables on the lefty scum and EXPOSE their decrepit record on similar matters.
Yes, civility’s very important, but, as we’ve seen over and over, it’s not a standard the left holds itself to—ever. And Obama’s slick performance was enough to make me sick: as Sarah Palin has noted, he’s not a man of valour. Lecturing his political enemies on civility is like the wolf telling the sheep to sheath their claws. WHAT an impostor that man is.

  45. The tolerant left? No other belife system has a higher murder rate for dissenters yhan the left.
Once you adopt this errant (essentially evil) ideal that you know what is best for others and have a claim on their destiny (belirve they exist for the sake of others or the state and not themselves) you dehumanize yourself.
There is a little bit of Pol Pot in every dogmatic lefty – disagree with them and watch it come out.
