  6. In addition to the WH oil we already know about,there are vast reserves estimated off the coast of B.C., but we’re still under a federal moratorium on any type of exploration.
    Something else for Harper to fix,but the Provincial Liberals would have to come on side,and the Haida paid their due,but eventually it will be developed.
    Right now the North of this Province is in an energy boom,with oil and gas exploration and pipeline construction going full bore,not to mention Kitimat’s LNG facility being built,and the expansion of Prince Rupert’s port for oil tankers. I was told by a trucker who delivers to Kitimat they’re building a 5000 man camp for construction workers.
    Once we get the enviro-fanatics out of the way,prosperity looms on the horizon.

  14. The Republication Senators that came to Alberta to see the Oil sands where, frankly amazed. Of course Texans have known this open secret for year. It may be to late though for America. China is buying up our energy. Mean while Obama as usual procrastinates to the detriment of Our Cousins South. I would rather the oil went to them myself . Alberta will take what we can get though, we always do!

  15. Ken, lamentably not so. The EPA was never hijacked. It was always stuffed with business-killing enviro-wackos. Remember, one of the first actions taken by the EPA after its formation by Nixon in the early ’70s was to kill DDT, an action which has killed millions subsequently. It killed the US strategy to dispose of nuclear waste by demanding a water purity re. radioactivity that even natural water cannot achieve. It demolished a large number of neighborhoods in New Jersey in the 1980s over trace amounts of radon gas, significantly less than that found in any basement in Winnipeg or Bismarck ND. It’s conspired with a large number of extreme environmentalists to secure demolition of a large number of dams in the US, even though these same enviros claim we all need more “clean” energy. The EPA fought against the launch of the Cassini Saturn orbiter satellite because it used a plutonium power source. It’s anti-asbestos regulations may have a lot to do with the loss of the shuttle Columbia (cladding failure incidents were much less before NASA was forced to change epoxys in the 1990s).
    Yes, it’s an insane agency, and it’s killed many more lives than it pretends to have saved.

  17. Oh! So that’s why Ontario and Quebec are running up insanely massive deficits and debt.
    They’re spending all those Alberta oil sands dollars in advance of either (1) the inevitable bail-out transfer payments, or (2) an NDP government’s nationalization of the oil sands.

  20. yop don’t ever bail out Ontario ever…. I seen the plans for three proposed wind farms along with a meeting notice on my parents table last Saturday. Huge frigging developments(183 turbines I believe) in marginal to acceptable areas of wind ? You wouldn’t see businesses drilling for oil where there wasn’t any, or at the very least if they did they’d take the loss.
    Ontario at least the urban part anyways has no idea how screwed we really are in this province.
    I just hope those responsible in government hang for the shambles they are creating along with the green energy firms feeding from the trough.
    Total gut wrenching insanity…
    If the West has the sense to stay clear of progressive clap trap they deserve every success they earn, Ontario deserves the hole it’s digging for itself and the modern libs and socialists in this province can choke on the dust.

  23. As Im sure I’ve stated before the limits to oil and gas production are largely political not geological. Venezuela and Mexico both have huge reserves but the politics of those countries has their production levels going backwards. Maybe in time that will change…

  24. Obama is in full election mode. I fully expect him to kibosh the pipeline, appeasing his farleft base.
    He’s far from the sharpest knife in the drawer and would happily sacrifice the country for his own personal gain.

  25. Quoting Watts on global warming is rather like quoting the bible to prove that the earth is 6,000 years old. Even if you were stupid enough to believe Mr. “I’ll accept whatever the study shows” prior to this, you’d have to be a true zealot in order to keep quoting him now.

    No apparent warming trend in my neck of the woods but not being a scientist, I can only come to obvious conclusions without a Jack Layton massage of the numbers.
