60 Replies to “War Number Four”

  1. Well it’s obviously George Bush’s fault they had to invade Aftica… New healine “Is there nothing GWB can’t be blamed for?”

  2. I’m certain this will help to stabilize the region and prove once again that Obama’s Nobel Peace Prize was well earned, after the fact.
And there’s still the Congo,Sudan,Central African republic…..,gee those guys may be away for years.

  3. Not knowing anything about Uganda’s politics, I have this gut feeling that the ‘resistance’ Obama is attacking is probably on the side of pro freedom and democracy, on the good side of things…I hope I’m wrong…I hope it’s just my total disdain for Soetoro which is affecting my rational.
Imagine if Bush would of deployed this…Where is the media on this?…d’uh!…Covering the faux mommy-basement-zombie revolution of course.
    Can’t wait for Nov, 2012.
    YES WE CAIN!
    Cain/Gingrich 2012!

  4. The sort of thing these LRA cultists are doing in Uganda is happening in several dozen nations across the globe.
Where is the American national interest in getting involved here?
(let’s not forget that involvment in Vietnam started by sending special forces advisors this way)

  5. Let me see now…
    Gitmo still open, not closed.
Afghan war still going, not ended.
American troops still deployed in Iraq.
American troops raid “ally” Pakistan via SEALS and drones to kill suspected terrorists and Osama.
American drones kill suspected terrorists in Yemen, including an American citizen who has never been charged with a crime.
Now, American troops deployed to Uganda.
It all makes sense now. No wonder they gave this guy a Nobel Peace Prize; he deserves it as much as Paul Krugman deserved his in economics.

  6. So a half brown president is sending troops half way across the world to kill innocent brown people. What about the brown people in Pock-ee-stawn killed by preditor drones?
Waiting for Amnesty International to demand the village idiot from Kenya be arrested for his war crimes.

  7. China is busy in east Africa securing minerals and farmland.
To contain China, deny pipelines for Iranian oil by occupying Afghanistan. I believe US intervention in East Africa is of a similar nature. US and China are entwined in a strange cold war.

  8. In all sincerity, The Lord’s Resistance Army has been a bizarre homcidal entity in the region for quite a time.
These guys disappear and then pop up suddenly killing everyone in sight….The sub sahara bush provides losts of cover and makes tracking difficult.
The bizarre thing is the LRA attacks not just government troops but civilians….abduction, and forced recruitment of children is a feature.

  9. “Not knowing anything about Uganda’s politics, I have this gut feeling that the ‘resistance’ Obama is attacking is probably on the side of pro freedom and democracy, on the good side of things…I hope I’m wrong…”
And God forbid you try to inform yourself of even the basic facts before arriving at an opinion.

    – etc.
Oh right, this is SDA, where your opinion is already formed for you…

  10. Eskimo, I like that, but it is Pock EEE Stain. Back to the news. I wonder if he got the blessing of the UN..

  11. And God forbid you try to inform yourself of even the basic facts before arriving at an opinion.
Yes, it’s important to have an informed opinion on everything. Especially wars that have no national security interest…

  12. Joseph Kony is an insane cult leader that kidnaps children and turns them into killers.
This guy is a pysco mass murderer.
Taking him out would be a blessing.
Say what you will about Obama’s disasterous Presidency, but his terrorist killing spree is a beautiful achievement.

  13. It is funny how the left is able to justify their wars, but identical wars pursued by someone on the right is condemned by the left as a war crime. Hypocrisy is spelled l,e,f,t.
That being said, sasquatch has it right and it is probably high time that these people were cleaned up.
Although, how many of these brush wars is the US able to pay for. Think Pax Roma and how that ended.

  14. It’s okay. I’m sure Congress will never vote for it.

    Hypocrisy is spelled l,e,f,t.

    d,a,v,e,n,p, etc. etc.

  15. “Yes, it’s important to have an informed opinion on everything.”
When a basic familiarity with the facts is only a 30 second google-search away, there’s no excuse for the kind of nonsense which gets spewed here on a daily basis. Finding out who the LRA are and what they stand for would have taken him less time than posting that comment, yet he couldn’t be bothered to do even that much work. It’s pathetic.
Likewise, if any of you fools had bothered to click through to the original article, you would have found out that the American troops are there in a purely advisory role, and are expected to stay out of combat whenever possible.
But no, this is clearly Obamessiah invading yet another third-world country to forcefully convert more poor innocent christians to his moon-god Allah. Just ask Kate!

  16. Well, Right Honourable Terry Tory, seriously???
“I don’t know anything about it, but here’s my gut reaction”.
The lefty troll Davenport pegged you perfect, thanks for that. rolling eyes…..
Unlike Davenport who unwaveringly spews the standard commie agitprop, there are those of us (all on the right of course) who do think for ourselves.
I do not support the Afstan/Iraq/Libya/Yemen/Pakistan wars of empire building.
However, if America really does want to be the worlds cop, this is exactly what it should be doing. The genocidal LRA needs to be dealt with, and for once the scrawny a$$ed weakling is doing the right thing here…even a chimp will hit the right button once in a while…odds being what they are….
What’s funny is he really is the gunslinging terrorist killer the leftards always made Dubya out to be, without, of course all the screaming about warmongering…hahahahahahahaahah
How this happened to get approval from the golfer-in-chief is perplexing, maybe he thought he was signing another scheme to pay his buddies in the greenie/union/ mob:)

  17. Thanks for the information Davenport.
I am agog that you decided to add value rather than your normal fly by name calling like Alex did. Isn’t intelligent and informed discourse fun?
How do you deal with the point others have raised that the US just committed 100 more troops to provide advisory services in a war zone where the chances of them not becoming involved in a fire fight are very small which is a very warlike act from a peace prize winner? How do you compare his extraterritorial actions to what he said he would do if he was elected? How do you deal with the apparent irony of the current President being as warlike as the prior?

  18. It all started when a Swahili speaking Elvis impersonator swore he saw Idi Amin at an A&W Drive-Through in Kampala last Saturday night.

  19. Why did Alex pop up again?
I wouldn’t be surprised if this was yet another poorly thought out ploy of Obama’s to vainly prove his relevance on the international stage. He is helping set the sun on the American Empire.

  20. I’m sorry, I just can’t get excited about this. 100 armed guys is not a war, its a raid on Gibson Guitar Co. Wake me when they shoot somebody worthwhile.
Like Mr. Amadinnerjacket. Crash a whole Predator on that POS.
Still, I must say it is funny as all hell to see Davenport coming in here to SUPPORT American use of force in a foreign country. What is it with you Davenport? Its ok to shoot people as long as the USA doesn’t get any good out of it?

  21. Davenport: But I thought that all our problems were blow-back for interventionist, busy-body “US Foreign Policy” (which opinion I feel is not baseless). I guess this really meant: “Republic Foreign Policy, No Matter What It Is”.
Disturbing that people like Davenport can’t apply the popular leftist “wag the dog” critique (often not baseless also!) when Obama is at the helm.
BTW, I read the other day that Barry has 2400 drone Kills under his belt compared to Bush-Hitler’s measely 400.
As many wise Austrian economists have observed, this economic meltdown, solely due to disastrous government fiscal/monetary policy, will necessitate WAR … as a distraction.

  22. Is this guy they are chasing oil rich?
    Just wondering.
Perhaps this is part of a pincer movement for a lightning invasion of Chad. That would be an ideal new American colony — desolate, drought-baked, almost no work or resources — a perfect place to send the ACORN people.

  23. I’ve been reading some lefty blogs, so here’s my take on this: Obama, desperate (inasfar as someone so majestic can pull off desperate) to strike a deal with evil senate Republicans to save American gays, women, minorities and the poor (but not the rednecky poor obviously) from the horribleness of not being rescued by his cool new legislation, has agreed to further a wicked Dominionist plot to establish a gay-murdering theocracy in Uganda. That’s why the troops are there. Wake up sheeple!
Somewhere, Michele Bachmann is cackling over a non-alchoholic beverage. Her husband is off to get rich converting all the Ugandan gays; they have no choice, now. It’s gold, baby!
Or if you don’t buy that then, as nightmarish as the LRA is, I have no idea what Bambam thinks he’s doing. Maybe he’s having a breakdown. Yeah, like the thought never occurred to you. Is this thing even legal? I guess congressional approval is old hat and boring, like the Constitution and junk.

  24. Back inna day, Idi Amin was eating people and nobody cared. Now, the LRA dresses up in women’s clothes and it’s a vital national interest of the US.
    Weird, with a beard.

  25. “What’s funny is he really is the gunslinging terrorist killer the leftards always made Dubya out to be, without, of course all the screaming about warmongering…hahahahahahahaahah”
Yanno, oddly enough, that’s actually the one (and only) thing I like about our Present president. And… I’ll second the “hahahahahahahaahah”.

  26. I figure he just watched “Machine Gun Preacher” and another hand-drawn lightbulb appeared over his melon.

  27. If this action results in the death of a homicidal butcher like Joseph Kony, then I’m with Obama on this one. He should’ve been sent to Hell long ago.

  28. kazeater,
This action may or may not result in Kony’s death or capture.
Quadaffi is still running around somewhere free as a bird, yes?
What it does for sure is continue to establish what a loose cannon Obama is when it comes to committing American military power wherever and whenever his fickle heart dictates with no congressional oversite.
    That’s a bad thing.
If Kony is doing something now that he hasn’t been doing since January 2009 which warrants this sort of action on Obama’s part I’d like to know what it is.

  29. A 100 combat troops sent to Uganda as advisors? To a country that needs no advisors on how to kill. There must be something more to this story,I hope that its not because they are christians. If someone retorts that the leader is a bad guy, remember how one negotiats in Uganda.

  30. A Democrat shill on the news suggested Obama had to do this become he was under ” incredible pressure ” from “humanitarian groups”; ie his radical base he will need to get re-elected.

  31. Going to call SDA on this one…
The article that this is linked to seems to avoid mentioning the fact that the U.S. is already part of MONUSCO, a U.N. effort which has been involved in trying to take out the LRA:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Nations_Mission_in_the_Democratic_Republic_of_Congo
The Kaibiles (Guatemalan S.F.) unit already took a shot at the LRA and ended up getting their butts handed to them:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaibiles
A Swedish S.F. unit was operating under MONUSCO in 2003 and the Indians sent a battalion of the 3rd Ghurka Regiment in 2008.
Uganda is part of the MONUSCO operational area. The U.S. already has 6 military advisors working for MONUSCO. Maybe it just happens to be the Americans turn to take on the LRA?
Shoddy reporting – kind of looks like the crap one gets from the MSM to me.

  32. “Oh right, this is SDA, where your opinion is already formed for you…”
Gee Davenport, you’ve nailed it. Before I open another business, regardless of the business plan, I always consult Kate for instructions on what I should do and what I should think. Same for investment decisions.
Because, of course, I am incapable of independent thought, bereft of ideology or other distractions. Uppermost in my mind, naturally, is “What would Kate do?”
And the fact that, according to the idiotic drones (substitute stupid, smelly hippies if you choose) at “Occupy Wall Street” I am a one-percenter presumably has everything to do with following Kate’s instructions.
But I keep working, armed with the knowledge that there are useless, unproductive members of our society who apparently seek for free the tax monies that I contribute.
I’m not sure that you fit into that category, given that I don’t know you. But taking your example of branding everyone who contributes here as a mindless drone, I guess you DO fit into that category until you prove otherwise.
A simple thank you for MY money supporting YOU would suffice.

  33. Oh and Davenport…given that you are a leftie and by definition humourless, before you run to your sociology professor to complain, much of the above post was sarcasm.

  34. the Zero, with his pi$$ prize in hand, starts another conflict????
tho I support this action, and the droning of terrorist scumbags, I hope the Zero chokes on his pi$$ prize, and take a couple of million lefties down the drain with him

  35. Bruce…..I also follow Kate Religiously(opps, can I say that?)But as I know, and you probably do also,is that she is actually an underground conduit for the socialist/commie/marxist leftards. She tells me what gubbermint unit to hit up for your money for free!!
And isn’t a davenport a small, totally useless piece of furniture?

  36. Well Uganda struck oil recently so clearly the US is about to build a pipeline or some other such thing. Oh wait George Bush isn’t involved you say? Oh ok nevermind.

  37. andycanuck: “It’s okay. I’m sure Congress will never vote for it.”
Read up, genius. Congress did vote on it, last year, with overwhelming bipartisan support. The Act is in the above links.
Rroe: “How do you deal with the point others have raised that the US just committed 100 more troops to provide advisory services in a war zone where the chances of them not becoming involved in a fire fight are very small which is a very warlike act from a peace prize winner? How do you compare his extraterritorial actions to what he said he would do if he was elected? How do you deal with the apparent irony of the current President being as warlike as the prior?”
The chances are actually quite good that they won’t be in a direct fire fight — the LRA isn’t that large, and there are alrady lots of Ugandan, Congolese, and Southern Sudanese front line troops hunting them. What they need is strategic guidance, not foot soldiers. Nobel Peace prize? In the context of the US Presidency, that doesn’t mean “Never use military force”, it means “Use US military power with sober humility, strategically and precisely, to take out aggressors like the LRA, in order to bring about a more lasting peace. Extraterritorial? The Ugandan gov’t are the ones asking for overseas help. And as for beng warlike, deploying 160,000+ troops is a “war”; deploying 100 is the US military doing its job.
The Phantom: “Still, I must say it is funny as all hell to see Davenport coming in here to SUPPORT American use of force in a foreign country. What is it with you Davenport? Its ok to shoot people as long as the USA doesn’t get any good out of it?”
I have no problem with US use of force overseas, when the foreign govt is asking for help, the proposed action is surgical, and there is a national security interest at stake. On the other hand, I do have a problem with authorizing a unilateral invasion and occupation of a foreign country for years, based on dubious intelligence, putting tens of thousands of troops and millions of civilians in harm’s way, without ever having given any serious thought to a realistic exit strategy.
Oh, and “No good out of it”? Ever bright, you are. Try looking at where Uganda is on the map. Notice who their neighbours are? Regional stability, and a grateful ally, are definitely in the US’s interests.

  38. The LRA are such a minor bunch of murderers, arsonists, rapists, robbers and thieves, compared with the genocidal governments of Sudan (South Sudan, Darfur, Kordofan), DR Congo, Congo, Rwanda, Burundi, Uganda, Ethiopia, Somalia that there must be an ulterior motive. Minerals or oil, anyone?

  39. @Texalberta
I’d just like to point out that our wars in Libya, Iraq, Afghanistan, etc., are not empire-building. If we were building an empire, when we were finished with the war we’d set up governments of our own and take control of their resources. If we were building an empire, these wars would pay for themselves. (This is the reason, for example, the British and Roman empires were so successful).
No, instead we’re playing with nation building, and predictably, it’s been an unmitigated disaster.

  40. Ulterior motive …. ?
Ha … sure … it’s easy pickings. The typical assault on low hanging fruit that is the standard mode of operation for the lazy, incompetent and stupid when trying to impress.
“Look at ME”, says the Obama administration!
OMMAG says … go take out a bunch of the mad mullahs across eastern Africa and near Asia … or maybe put the fear of GOD into the Somalis operating the piracy industry …. grow up and try to act like a man instead of a petulant, snivelling adolescent.
