“It was a stunning moment of moral clarity.”

As the South Vietnamese refugees clambered onto rickety boats in the South China Sea to escape the victorious Communists, the American Left that orchestrated the US defeat through a sustained campaign of propaganda and fake calls for peace stood silent.
As Pol Pot, the “progressive” dictator tortured and murdered a third of his people in Cambodia, the leftists “peace” activists in the US and Europe who never saw a US military operation that was justified, turned a blind eye.
The silence of the likes of Susan Sontag, Jane Fonda, Noam Chomsky and their fellow travelers came to mind last week when the Western media and intellectual elites averted their gaze as Sheikh Yusuf Qaradawi, the long exiled spiritual guide of the Muslim Brotherhood spoke before a crowd of millions at Cairo’s Tahrir Square. 1. We can either nuke ME or stand silent. What else do you actually want the West to do, please be specific.

  2. I now know we can control global warming with nuclear explosions but what about neutron bombs? Aren’t they the ones that don’t damage too much infrastructure but kills by radiation?…I mean, can’t blow up all those oil fields in the process.
    Dry humour aside,
I mean, if that berkenstock wearing bitch hadn’t written the book that first started our lefties collective insanity on environmentalism; ‘Silent Spring’ back in 1962 maybe today we would be almost if not entirely free from the savages in the Middle East…Hell, we might still have a good economy going.
Here’s an excerpt of Criticism about this very damaging book:
“…the conservative magazine, Human Events, gave Silent Spring an “honorable mention” in its list of the “Ten Most Harmful Books of the 19th and 20th Centuries,”[23] and in 2002, to mark its 40 anniversary, Reason magazine published an essay by economist Ronald Bailey, a former fellow with the libertarian Competitive Enterprise Institute.[24] Bailey argued that the book had a mixed legacy:
The book did point to problems that had not been adequately addressed, such as the effects of DDT on some wildlife. And given the state of the science at the time she wrote, one might even make the case that Carson’s concerns about the effects of synthetic chemicals on human health were not completely unwarranted. Along with other researchers, she was simply ignorant of the facts. But after four decades in which tens of billions of dollars have been wasted chasing imaginary risks without measurably improving American health, her intellectual descendants don’t have the same excuse…”

  3. The Muslim Brotherhood will enslave the people of North Africa and the ME, look how violent and medieval Hamas and Hezballah are to the people? If they replace dictators with Islamofacists all hell is going to break loose in the next decade.

Nah, the brave citizens have facebook, twitter and the internet…So while they are being massacred by the thousands we can watch it and complain about it live with our precious little hand held gadgets. Isn’t technology kick ass or what?
If it gets really really bad,not to worry, Barry will firmly step in and…
…Shutdown all wireless communication systems. He has that power now, ya know.

  5. I tried to read that article, I really did. But fine black print on a background that varies from gray to very dark gray? Sheesh. Epic fail.

Agreed, however if you drag your cursor over the text, it shows as a nice clear white with a blue background and makes it easier to see.
Chances of this info on CBC? Don’t hold your breath!
    😉

  7. Read it at:
    Caroline Glick’s
    own website.
    But READ IT please.
AND bookmark her site; she’s the very, very best on Israel and the ME.
This is an excellent piece on both the Nazi and Soviet Propaganda efforts which resulted in the total inversion of the reality of this intractable conflict. Notice the Soviet efforts really went into full force after the Six Day War in 1967; the BIRTH of the make-believe “Palestinian People”.

  8. Stalin, Hitler and the petty tyrants too like Castro, Guevera, Chavez…and the list goes on, as the NYTimes oped pages make clear. Not to mention the left’s silence on so many others too. Zimbabwe, North Korea and Iran are just the first three that come to mind. The left is a tyranny of the mind so it can never speak up for liberty. As Prager says, “being a leftist means never having to say you’re sorry.”

  9. There’s only one slight correction I would make to the quoted article. Brendan O’Neill’s claim of recent Arab indifference to the Palestinians is not much longer than that. The Arabs have been indifferent to the Palestinians since the partition in 1948. The attack by the armies of Egypt, Syria and Jordan was not to liberate the Palestinians from the Israelis but to annex chunks of the country. It was a disaster, and the governments in all three countries collapsed. Arabs got a lesson again in Palestinian politics when the Jordanians had to put down an armed revolt in 1971.
So it’s not that the Arabs are recently indifferent to the Palestinians; they have always been uninterested in them.
But I think there’s a larger point here. Too glibly we assumed that WW2 put an end to fascism as a political philosophy. Instead we are seeing it rise again in the Arab world and our among our own immigrants. And like the 1930s, this new fascism is finding all too many admirers among the Left, and they well fill the role of “Lenin’s useful idiots”.

  10. The Left certainly didn’t step aside about the Vietnamese boat people! They insisted that the Vietnamese be taken in without being vetted for criminality etc.
My favorite moonbat statement was made (by some “expert” on Vietnamese youth crime) about a Vietnamese gang operating in Vancouver:
“Deporting them back to Vietnam is no solution”. The cognitive dissonance remains strong in my memory.

  11. I notice only that the Left have not risen en mass and cried “ENOUGH!” since Libya’s airforce has been bombing civilians in… Libya.
If a Palestinian dies because the Israeli government wasn’t quite clever enough to stop him from launching a rocket without killing him, this is a moral outrage. If a thousand Libyans die at one go because insane fruitloop MoMo Quadaffi told his pilots “no mercy!” it does not bear mentioning.
At some point these Jew-haters must be brought to account for their actions. Would it not be the very pinnacle of irony if they were all hauled before the various HRCs and had the living crap sued out of them? HRCs re-tooled to the purpose by being staffed with The Church Lady.
By the way. All you boys and girls who are all terrified of the scary Muslim Brotherhood and the scary Saudis and the scary Egyptians and all that. Can any of you guys and gals name me one arms manufacturer in the Middle East? Just one outfit that makes jets, or tanks, or even cars? How about rifles? Those rifles are knock offs of AK47s, right?
As opposed to Israel which designs and makes their own -everything-.
The combined military power of the Arab world will last about one week in open warfare with Europe. Not the USA, not even Russia, just the poor little Europussies. One week maximum. Two weeks against the Brits by themselves.

  12. Phantom
I’ve had a bit of experience in the sand box.
There are/were guys in Peshwar, Pakistan….working in small shops with dirt floors making counterfeit Lee Enfields by hand….complete with Brit proof marks.
The remarkable thing is that they are/were match quality.
However maintaining a modern weapon system is beyond the abilities of the arab ME armies. IDF sources tell me that arab air forces cannot keep their birds flying more than 24 hours and after a coupla days their tanks are unservicable.
    Manufacture…..hahahahahaha…they can’t even grease them…..or check oil….
Pakistan finally made some nukes, with Chinese supplied material…..
The biggest problem for the Muslim nations is their population has been found to have an average IQ of 86. Probably a result of millenia of inbreeding….They still have some genius but the bell curve makes them rare…..

  13. sasquatch, would it be safe to say we’d have to give them a ride over here and -give- them the ammunition and the vehicles etc. before they could be more than an irritant to North America?
That being -exactly- what liberal immigration policy is, one notes…

Grasshopper, it has been noted that you are one of my better students……..

  15. Just wow…can you please turn down the stupid a little? The US lost Vietnam because they pursued a strategy of fight a ‘half-war’ to appease neighboring commies, not because of pro-peace ‘propaganda’ ie free speech.
Just how the hell is a speech morally equivalent to genocide and a proxy compaign by the west against Jews? Conservatives need a 12-step program to end their addiction to Islamo-obsession.
