In an unprecedented move, India on Saturday joined China and two other developing countries to prepare for a major offensive on rich nations at the Copenhagen conference on climate change next month.
The four countries, which include Brazil and South Africa, agreed to a strategy that involves jointly walking out of the conference if the developed nations try to force their own terms on the developing world, Jairam Ramesh, the Indian minister for environment and forests (independent charge), said.
[…]
The developing nations will also not accept any pressure from developed countries to establish legally binding emission targets at Copenhagen. Developing countries want to be allowed to reduce emissions voluntarily and take what they consider to be “nationally appropriate actions” he said.

And then of course there are the Gore/Hammer family Commie connections and the fact that Gore’s daughter is married to a Schiff, grandson of Commie financier Jacob Schiff who reaped huge financial rewards in exchange for the $20,000,000 he gave Bronstein and his 300 Bolshevik revolutionaries.
And yet India signed the Comenwealth decleration that said that all countries need to have binding targets.
It is going to be pretty interesting to see how it all unfolds, or unravels.
That India would take two contradicting positions says just what exactly about the whole process. This is why Canada needed a proper negotiationg strategy as opposed to the pollyanna feel goodism of last time. This is serious stuff, other nations are negotiating, we better be prepared to be just as hard nosed on our own.
Good for India and China.
So these four pillars of enviromental responsibility want to dictate to the rest of the world how the pie should be split. No doubt they will get plenty of support from third world countries that are salivating at the thought of getting access to someone elses money. Its time for North America to stop listening to these greedy buggers and those appeasing Euro-Weenies.
It’s gonna be a big tadoo to see who get the most fossil awards. Here’s crossing my fingers we don’t get shut out.
Not to worry..Obama will stand up, make the sign of the cross and they will fall to their knees before Him.
This is getting better & better, Fossil for Canada.
Better than an Olympic Gold.
Brazil, India and China constitute the lion’s share of the stellar BRIC index, Russia being the other.
Their continued success is critical to any nascent global economic recovery. Avoiding silly restraints on that growth is, therefore, paramount. Good on them for refusing to be hoodwinked into any economic straight-jacket.
Found a concise, easy-to-read article on the global warming scam on the Von Mises Institute website today:
http://mises.org/daily/3899
One of the points the article makes is that some of the scientists at the forefront of the global warming scam are avowed socialists who have a definite axe to grind with capitalism.
Kate, that was a great read thanks.
You are our eyes and ears for this fraud.
Even if countries like China were to agree to a CO2 target, why would we trust them to be honest about it.
The AGW crowd are liars, and the negotiations surrounding the lie are an utter sham.
What an incredibly sorry state of affairs, yet scarcely anyone in the MSM wants to print the truth.

I can’t blame them.
OT, I agree with O’Reilly yesterday, it appears we are marching towards WW3. At this time the west is weak financially, morally and politically, or should I say vulnerable. If there was ever a time to destabilize the worlds security and economy in an attempt to redefine the proverbial map, that time is coming. I have to believe that China, Russia and many of our other “friends” are planning for this contingency, it’s only practical. I just wish I could believe our leaders were doing the same. Would this scenario effect AGW treaties once they’re signed?
Saw this at HotAir and thought it may interest some. Follow the money in ‘The Big Burn’ as I now call it. Sorry for the long link.

China wants this deal and will get it on a voluntarily basis. They have serious air, ground
and water pollution. Based on solid science it
kills. CO2 is a theory that may be proved right
or wrong in 20 or 50 years. Not on their radar.
If you read technology transfer as free and
billions in carbon credits to fix a problem
they have to fix. Who would say no ?
Picking up on what Stephen said, this will all unravel. No meaningful agreement will be signed, and that’s fine. Representatives will commit to a big nothing, it will be all lip service.
This whole thing means money, gobs of it, to both China and India. I would guess their opposition to it is just a staged ploy to extract even more money from the useful idiots. I say look for the both of them to be ONSIDE in the end, it’s to their distinct financial advantage. They are playing the game and playing us.
Hopenchangen . . . .
Gong Show + 3 Ring Circus + Burning Man Festival.
All in one place at one time.
They could charge admission and make a fortune.

If China cares so much about their pollution problem why do they have a space program and designs to make a moon landing instead of spending the money they currently have to mitigate the problem?
Isn’t “going green” supposed to be a smart economic move from a productivity standpoint?
This bodes well.
I wrote an email to my Conservative MP yesterday demanding that the hypocrisy ends and that they start debaiting climategate in the house of commons in an attempt to force CBC, CTV and others to start reporting on this…I told him that at this state in the game most voters with brains would applaud and support a leader who would dare be politically incorrect and start officially denouncing this scam of religious proportions…Too bad I did’nt have the Australian example to attach.
I am convinced they all know now it’s a crock of shit but are afraid of being pointed as heretics…They will let things slowly unravel on its own and hope it will eventually dissapear…No one will be brought to justice, no one will pay.
They are all complicit IMO (Governments, Green industries and advocates, MSM) and because of the internet and great blogs like SDA they have finally been exposed. Believe you me, that “semi detached conspiracy” in essence is a lot more scary than melting ice sheets.
I can’t believe they will let us continue unfettered with the internet much longer after this worldwide cyberspace revolution on a perpetrated and orchestrated lie is vanquished once and for all.
Kate, you are my favorite Canadian heroine of all time…You make me high and you are quite addictive to booth! 😉
Erik Larsen,
May be the case. Remeber though this is a negotiation, so people have opening positions and then move from there….some are doctinaire and won’t budge, I think Brazil might be in this camp.
Harper and Obama (the odd couple) know nothing gets passed in the US congress without there being binding committments from all. I think the Chinese know this will be the case, hence their attendence. The threat will be trade sanctions to bring the racalcitrant on board….the Euro’s will push this position.
But, this is no longer a greenie fest, which will prevent it from turning into anything really radical or stupid, like what Chretien did at Kyoto…oh lets agree to more so we can beat the Americans (effing idiot)
As long as terms of trade dont get upset then you may well see an agreement. There may be a buyoff, but I think many, including China are wary of providing definitive lifeblood to the UN kleptocrats.
This is the nice thing when there are others in the wealth tent, or about to enter, they begin to adopt your point of view.
Of course Brazil wants the exemption, like Alberta, because they are sitting on huge amounts of the evil carbon stuff.
Any agreement will be a reasonable and thoroughly unsatidfying to the greenie’s.
re:Hopenchangen
I guess I’ll go to bat for Obama on this one considering that J.McCain has also drank the AGW Kool-Aid. I guess if McCain had won the election the title would have been: Trouble in Oldengraven.
So let me see if I’ve got this right – while environmentalists are dumping on PM Harper for not reducing greenhouse gas emissions enough, three of the world’s biggest polluters – China, India and Brazil – are giving them these same environmentalists the finger and telling them they’ll continue to do as they please?
And the environmentalists’ reply is .. what exactly?
I surmise that BRIC has figured out that if we go forward with ClimateScam, that our economies will be so badly damaged that we cannot consume their products and services. Every Yuan or Rupee I give to Blood and Gore, or the UN, when I fill my tank or heat my house is a Yuan or Rupee less I can send to China or India.
I recently sent this to the PM, Ignatief, Prentice, and my MP under the subject:
Copenhagen Enslavement Policy
Carbon is one of the basic building blocks of life on earth. Any attempt at taxing carbon in any way, shape, or form, constitutes a tax on life itself. I have a “right to life”, no local government, unelected global government, nor any unelected bureaucrat from the corrupt UN has any right to place a tax on life.
The new EU President Herman Van Rompuy recently stated: “2009 is also the first year of global governance, with the establishment of the G20 in the middle of the financial crisis. The climate conference in Copenhagen is another step towards the global management of our planet.”
Given also the recent revelations regarding the fudging and manipulation of data at the Hadley Climate Research Unit which is the major source of information for the IPCC, and the blackballing of over 1000 renown climate scientist who didn’t agree with the theory of AGW, I would like to know what the hell is going on.
If this agreement in Copenhagen is signed, the only conclusion I can come to is our politicians are more concerned with Big Government, Big Business, and Big Green, and enslaving the entire population of the world to benefit and greatly enrich a few large multinational corporations. Al Gore is the biggest global warming scam pusher in the world, and is becoming extremely rich through it.
As any dictator or tyrant knows, the best way to control the population is through fear, such as fear of catastrophic global warming, be it real or imagined.
Scientific fact is not determined by a consensus, political policy is. Scientists belonging to the Flat Earth Society came to a consensus that the earth was flat, that doesn’t make it a fact.
To quote a former Liberal Environment Minister:
“No matter if the science is all phony, there are collateral environmental benefits…. climate change [provides] the greatest chance to bring about justice and equality in the world.” – Christine Stewart, Canadian Environment Minister, Calgary Herald, December 14, 1998
Sounds like it comes straight from the communist manifesto.
I refuse to allow any of my tax dollars to be used support this farce.
The email I wrote to the PM was three paragraphs long.
I got a reply the next day that it was being forwarded to Jim Prentice.
When there are thousands of emails coming in every day. Being long-winded does not get you noticed.
LJ @ 12:18, great letter. It is directly to the point. Hopefully someone acquires some brass balls and acts on this, even if it leads to an election, such as what may be happening in Australia.
While the world fights over who (Gore/Goldman Sachs/TD Bank/Mo etc) is going to make the megabucks on co2, the fertilizer, REAL pollution is ignored. If you want to see pollution Google “China Hush”…China should be ashamed. These pictures should be published in Copenhagen.
And China wants to sell carbon credits??
The move comes after recent discussions on climate change held with Indian and Chinese leaders by US president Barack Obama, who appears to have made little impact on them.
That is so funny… China hit Obama between the ears with evidence of the AGW fraud…and ran him out of the Country…Did they also threaten Obama with a nuclear response to the US Communist Global Governance??? The AGW-IPCC are a gathering of mental midgets……
Post China Visit:
Gore referred to the AGW scientist as confused & uninformed..made mistakes

I have not even received an acknowledgement. I live in his riding.

Being against a carbon tax the Libranos, Cons, Traitors, and the Communists (NDP) want, will guarantee you won’t be noticed.
That’s why Prentice is MIA. And desperately hoping nobody reports on this until the carbon tax is in place.
Monkton weighs in . . . he’s after criminal charges as well

George Soros: Cap & trade is not good because it can be Gamed (that is corrupted)…hmmm.
I wonder if that’s why they try to demonize Alberta and the oilsands. Carbon capture and storage cuts into their share of the pie.
OK, I’ll reveal the contents of my email and the response I received on Nov. 27.
Prime Minister:
Please reconsider your planned attendance at the Copenhagen summit.
Recent revelations have cast doubt upon the integrity of the data used to justify this money-sucking project promoted by the IPCC.
European cap-and-trade projects have only served to quadruple
electricity rates to the average consumer while enriching unscrupulous promoters and traders.
And the reply:
On behalf of the Right Honourable Stephen Harper, I would like to thank you for your e-mail, in which you raised an issue that falls within the portfolio of the Honourable Jim Prentice, Minister of the Environment.
Please be assured that the statements you made have been carefully reviewed. I have taken the liberty of forwarding your e-mail to Minister Prentice, so that he too may be made aware of your comments. I am certain that the Minister will give your views every consideration. For more information on the Government’s initiatives, you may wish to visit the Prime Minister’s Web site, at http://www.pm.gc.ca.
I emailed my MP last week (a conservative) and got no response. He’ll be hearing from me again today and I will not mince my words. I will demand a response, a response in which he outlines his position on this scam.
Ghost:
Stomping your feet usually results in frustration.
Not sure which elements got the PM’s office’s attention.
1) asking PM to reconsider his attendance at Copenhagen.
2) Money-sucking project promoted by IPCC
3) credibility of integrity of data
4) its proven effects on European (actually the Spanish) consumer
5) unscrupulous promotes and traders
6) some of the above
7) all of the above.
One word of advice: ‘You’re an a**hole and I demand something’ will not work.
“forwarded to Jim Prentice”
Mine too. But if Prentice’s interview with Rutherford this morning is anything to go by, we’re royally sCRUed.
Climategate is troubling but we all believe that CO2 is a pollutant and the USA is going to jump off a bridge so we’re going to jump too because something must be done. All that was missing was “won’t someone please think of the children.”
I hope my radio doesn’t take it personally when I yell at it.

Two GREAT articles appeared today:
A really well written piece by Debra Saunders:

One of the best pieces I’ve seen, By Lindzen:

The Wall Street Journal has been the best mainstream media source for this issue.
Keep up the great posts, Kate.
My local MP told me at his Christmas party on Friday that Canada would set ‘attainable’ goals at Copenhagen.
To me that means Canada will rag the puck, protecting its engine of the economy.
A much more reasoned approach than that buffoon Chretien and Kyoto’s owner Dion.
Of course, that won’t be good enough for the environazis, who would like to dictate to you how you should live your life.
“The developing nations will also not accept any pressure from developed countries to establish legally binding emission targets at Copenhagen.”
Bingo! India is well aware all this AGW legislating by globalists is nothing more than a profiteering scheme to enrich well heeled investors and economic manipulators in the west, at the developing and 3rd world’s expense.
The first victims of the climate fraud economics were the emergent and developing nations who relied on the abundant affordable food source America’s grain basket provided before AGW-sustainability hysteria profiteering nuked the grain food supply by 50% by diverting food grains to ethenol production.
3rd world people are starving so conniving schmucks like Gore can manipulate markets with AGW frauds.
Heh. Google now showing 108 million hits for climategate:

I sent an email to PM Harper urging him not to sign any treaty limiting Canada’s ability to set our own energy policy,in other words, no cap and trade or emissions reductions, and urging him to stand up against this AGW nonsense. This morning I got a phone call from the Cons.party looking for a donation. I told them I would not contribute money until after I see the PM’s handling of this issue and whether he truly puts Canada’s interests first.
Set You Free
The last line in your post made me laugh and put me in a better frame of mind.
I’ve been so enraged by recent events.
I was just composing my email when I read what you had to say and I consider it helpful.
But those developing nations sic their dogs, pardon – on us, how consistent!

Vaclav Klaus once again.
Via HotAir
Video: Vaclav Klaus calls AGW “cheap argumentation”
“,,,For one thing, Klaus points out, they’re promising deliverables on due dates that will likely come long after their own deaths, which hardly equates to any sense of political courage anyway.”
http://hotair.com/archives/2009/12/01/video-vaclav-klaus-calls-agw-cheap-argumentation/
“they” being politicians like Gore, Dion, Iggy, et al.
This clip shows what Harper is up against
Let’s not forget the work of Bjørn Lomborg – who is *NOT* a climate change skeptic. He posits that warmer temperatures will save lives until 2200. His models state a life saved through “climate change aversion measures” will cost ~$100 million. A life saved through more conventional means would cost $2000 per. (Weird calculations, but whatever).
So, for all those arguing in favour for regulations to prevent “climate change”, how many lives are you willing to sacrifice for your cause; people who could otherwise be saved through cheaper means (mosquito netting to prevent malaria, antibiotics, vaccinations, etc)
