The greenies have had a major woody for clearing the dams off the Colorado river for 40 years. They want Arizona, Nevada and Southern California to return to the desert.
Oh, and they want to shoot anybody who tries to drive across said desert in a dune buggy. Can’t have the $%*%&#(#!! proles enjoying themselves. But that’s a separate issue.
The dams of the Pacific Northwest provide clean, abundant, and relatively cheap energy which give the PN a real advantage. What will this capacity be replaced with, freakin wind turbines? How many of the GD things would they have to build?

They are currently killing the Central California agricultural economy (the farmers that provide all of North America with about 80% of their fresh vegetables) over a 5 cm long fish and the Obamessiah will not do anything to assist them. They could go a long way toward fixing the Pacific Salmon problem by simply getting rid of open net sea pens in fish farms.
At some point the demand for energy at a reasonable price will trump all of this nonsense. Buy non-renewable resources for long term profit. When the environmental scare pendulum swings back to “the impending ice age” emitting CO2 will be promoted.

Just watched this on HotAir. Hannity went to the San Joachin Valley and had a show on the effects of saving the Delta smelt. No irrigation for food and the terrible straits the farmers are left in. Some are relying on food banks and there is nothing the Governor can do.

It has been the ambition of the greenies to destroy the farms and highways and return the land to “nature”. “Freeing the rivers is part of this return to “nature”. These tofu eaters have no clue what the result will be.. California regulations are already driving up freight rates throughout the region by forcing many freighhaulers out of business….the handwringers fear trucks and seek to have them disappear….with no consideration of the consequences.
Shutting off the irrigation water allegedly to preserve an obscure “fresh water smelt” in the Sacramento Delta—is just the tip of the iceberg.

The Endangered Species Act goes back to Jimmy Carter’s administration and allows greens to litigate any regulatory body that could potentially allow ANY impact to listed species. This little fish with no commercial value in the San Joachin valley (utilizing artificial irrigation canals as habitat) could easily be preserved as a viable species outside the institutional strait jacket of the statutes and bureaucracies involved. But this administration is too beholden to the green interests to fix this simple problem. Greens don’t bend – you do!
