But Will He Share CTV’s Split Screen With Protestors?

Like his predecessor did during his visit;

The Obama visit, which will revolve around a meeting with Prime Minister Stephen Harper but include a courtesy chat with Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff in his capacity as Official Opposition leader, is expected to take roughly five hours from landing to the President’s return to Washington, D.C.

Five hours? That’s barely long enough to raise Heather Mallick’s respiration rate.

  1. The only thing that should be raised on Mallick are mushrooms. They like being in the dark and fed shiite, don’t they???

  2. Poor Jack. I mean, the chance to meet The One was one of the reasons behind his shameless and unsuccessful grab for power. Nice to see him finally treated as the leader of the Fourth party.
    Looks good on him.

  3. “New Democrat leader Jack Layton And Bloc leader Gilles Duceppe will not be given face time with Mr Obama, which fits with protocol.”
    national post
Can you picture it now, the look on the face of one of the 2 as Obama is rushed by them.
mr president, mr president, over here, over here… mr president we are democrats too ya know…..Mr presidenttttttt….i love you….

  4. “… first lady sensation Michelle Obama.” Note to self: never read anything from Don Martin again!

  5. “Will He Share CTV’s Split Screen With Protestors?”
No. Because all the protesters will be quietly hustled off and have the crap beat out of them before The One arrives.
All hail The One. Hope and Change, baby.

  6. I don’t understand why the Big Zero is being allowed to visit. Doesn’t he have ties to terrorists who have already been denied entry to Canada?

  7. Time to do a cleanup around Parliament Hill, round up a few undesirables (Layton, Gilles, Lizzie May) and make the place spic and span for the presidential visit.

  8. Hopefully, the “Big O”, does not “buy Canadian” because after a mere 5 hours, we really should charge him duty.

  9. “Doesn’t he have ties to terrorists who have already been denied entry to Canada?”
Not to mention his passport is probably not valid since he renounced his citizenship when he took an Indonesian one (no dual citizenship is recognized by the US) and never properly asked for it back.

  10. re the Star….Won’t be with a halo, but I bet they will publish a picture of Iggy meeting him.
And if Jack complains he is a bigger idiot than I thought. He knows the protocol. He might meet him if there was a state dinner. which of course would be hosted by the GG.
What I am not sure about is the protocol surrounding the GG. If it is a “state visit” then I believe she would greet him. But I think this is a government visit. Since the Pres has two roles, head of gov and head of state the purpose changes.
Of course, our media will stir it up into some kind of Harper being a bully story before they een think to check on protocol.
Lets put it this way, the Queen doesnt greet the Pres at the airport everytime he goes to the UK.

  11. “because after a mere 5 hours, we really should charge him duty.”
That restriction doesn’t matter from our side. I can drive up into Canada straight to the duty free store, grab some liquor and drive home. I wonder how much longer that will last once Obama spends our country into penury?

  12. “When the former president finally got around to visiting Canada for an overnight stay in late 2004…”
Oh fer cryin’ out loud. In case it escaped Martin’s notice, A) Bush was kinda busy in his own country; B) he was here in June 2008 for the G7 summit; and C) only kids get into snits over sleepovers.

  13. Make it a working meeting, then do a happy tour some time later, when the weather is better.
There are lots of issues being loaded onto the agenda. I think it suits Harper and Obama that way. They may not be brothers on all policy but I have said for awhile that their demeanours are similar.
Put it this way, if they moved in beside each other in a neighbourhood would they be friends…my bet is yes. Of course one wonders whetehr they would ever live in the same neighborhood, Sh is a suburban guy, Obama is more downtown neighborhood guy. Bush was Ex-Urban guy.
We will see, but watching the coverage in Canada is incredible.

maybe the honourable michael “torture shouldn’t be ruled out
    in all cases”
ignatieff can persuade obama to keep gitmo open?

  15. Good point SoccorMom
I wonder who protocol would have allowed to meet the One if coup-scam was successful?
BO’s visit would have been the end of the coalition regardless. The coalition would not have survived the cat-fight between the leaders over spending time with the new sexy President. It would have been “The Flavor of Love, Canadian Style”.

  16. Heather Mallick and Eric Margolis would make a lovely couple.
Perhaps they, Olivia and Jack could get together for a fondue with the Big Owe.

  17. I fully expect some columnist to criticise Harper for not recalling Parliament so that MPs can bask in the rhetoric. Some MPs have already suggested as much, forgetting that for the G W Bush visit, they prevented him from speaking to Parliament.
Its not as if they will not have plenty to discuss. We’ve heard enough Obama talk, time to get down to business.

  18. stephen – Obama and Harper are similar? You must be kidding.
Obama is a narcissist Salesman. He has no interest in theories, policies, programs, no ability to analyze long term infrastructures. His focus is on his ability to make you Do What He Wants – and his interest is only on this control. His tactics are to misinform you, manipulate you via emotions of hope and fear. And, if you reject him, he’ll accuse you of (racism) bias.
Harper is an introverted Policy Planner. His interest is in theories, long term infrastructures, policies. He’s not good at communicating these theories and he most certainly will not misinform, manipulate or use the strategy of ‘You are a (racist)bigot) if you don’t agree with me’.
The two of them have nothing in common. Obama is far more similar to Chretien, also a narcissist, manipulator, master of misinformation and very ready to accuse you of bias or being ‘unCanadian’.

  19. Zero is closing down Guantanamo but stepping up the rendition programs so that other countries can do the the torturing Americans won’t do. Shouldn’t we arrest Zero and send him to be tried in International Court for crimes against humanity? After all we gave Arar $10 million for his experience and Zero wants to do more of this. Its time Canada takes a stand and says Never Again to rendition.

  20. “What I am not sure about is the protocol surrounding the GG. If it is a “state visit” then I believe she would greet him. But I think this is a government visit. Since the Pres has two roles, head of gov and head of state the purpose changes.”
I believe I saw that very same distinction, discussed right down to the minutiae in a most comical fashion, on an episode of Yes Minister I watched recently.

  21. Tim in Vt:
You can hold dual citizenship in the US. From a website that discusses this issue in detail:
It indeed used to be the case in the US that you couldn’t hold dual citizenship (except in certain cases if you had dual citizenship from birth or childhood, in which case some Supreme Court rulings — Perkins v. Elg (1939), Mandoli v. Acheson (1952), and Kawakita v. U.S. (1952) — permitted you to keep both). However, most of the laws forbidding dual citizenship were struck down by the US Supreme Court in two cases: a 1967 decision, Afroyim v. Rusk, as well as a second ruling in 1980, Vance v. Terrazas.

  22. ET
poor mister ZERO is having some difficulty getting his “agenda” through the senate, seems that not all the dems are falling in line, and he is demanding that it must be passed NOW!!!!!
    control freak for sure:-)))

  23. “It’s about time Obama talked to an economist.”
I don’t know about that. Virtually no economist has ever run a business. Basically older students with calculators and theories that only work in the classroom.
Not that he would listen, but he would be better off talking to the owner of a business with 20-100 employees. Who would likely tell him that the fastest way to a booming economy would be to eliminate corporate taxes period.
Cease bailing any business’s out too. Only rewards the incompetent or unlucky. Slash 97% of business regulations and fire 70% of all federal employees while your at it.
    Bingo. Overnight boom.
Fat chance. Nice to dream about though.

  24. Hedder eh….
Well at least she’s not pretending to be anything BUT a sphincter snuurfing liberal beaaartch.
    SSLB

  25. Harper: You realise, sir, that this bailout stuff will not work.
O: Hey man, don’t get all hung up on this policy stuff; just go with the flow man!

  26. There is nothing quit like a visit from the President to create a stir in the air above us here in the Ottawa Valley. When Slick Willy came to play golf a few years back with PM Crouton it was a Holy Flock!!! of helicopters THUMP! THUMP! THUMP!! A couple of summers ago George W. was at Montebello, Quebec (just across the Ottawa River) and there was a no-fly zone for small planes for the time he was visiting. Some idiot decided to fly through with a small plane and here comes the fighter jets to escourt them away….the fighter jets almost blew the plate glass windows out of my brother-in-laws farm house laying on the throttle. So what will we see with the “O”? I’ll keep SDA’ers posted with the appearance of trumpeting angel, fairy, rainbow, unicorn and pixie dust sightings as they happen folks.
By the way the Mexician President was also at Montebello and he must have arrived by burro as there was no fanfare at all.

  27. Mike_RoA: “‘”… first lady sensation Michelle Obama.’ Note to self: never read anything from Don Martin again!”
    Gag. Don Martin’s a twit.
What’s so sensational about Michelle Obama? I actually hate her dress sense and thought she looked like a frump at the Inauguration. Of course, there was BLING — the sparkles on her dress and around her neck — but that yellow tent was the colour of bile.
I NEVER watch Entertainment Tonight, but while I was channel surfing tonight, I was intrigued by a split screen of Laura Bush and Tracy Ullman AS Laura Bush. Guess what? Tracy is going to be doing some kind of show in April where she impersonates Laura Bush.
So, rather than begin to take the mickey out of the Obamas — hey, they’re saints, just check out the TorStar’s Feb. 5 front-page photo of Pres. Barak via Dust My Broom (http://www.dustmybroom.com/ : “Toronto Star idol worship front and centre”) — Hollywood’s going to continue to deprecate the Bushes, and now they’re picking on Laura.
What bottom feeders. My contempt knows no bounds. There’s a protective MSM shield around Barak and Michelle and I don’t suppose it matters what they do or say — or don’t do or don’t say — nothing’s going to penetrate it. So, we’ll have to be the presidential watchdogs.
    I’m watching …

  28. When the great O comes to Canada for yet another useless photo-op, you can bet the MSM will focus on the cursory meeting between the black-guy President and the 30 year foriegner, inserted as the Liberal leader, Count Iggula. The MSM will bend over backward and forward to try and link the two American saviours, in a feeble attempt at kick starting the fictional Iggo-mania. Maybe the MSM can link the sloganeering of the great black hope @ change rhetoric with Count Iggula’s equally vapid, and awe inspiring lecture on the hope and joy of excrement hiding.

  29. Iggy and bO can reminisce about the time they spent at harvard. Iggy has lived for more years in the lower 48 than BO. You think the press will bring that up?

  30. Aren’t we talking about the media’s president the Big Owe?
Of course he won’t have to share a slit screen with protesters. However the camera might wander off his greatness long enough to show his worshipers thumping their foreheads on the frozen ground whilst waving their buttocks in the air.

  31. The Prime Minister’s replies to The rhetorical Count were pretty funny. Yesterday’s QP I think. The Count said he was impatient man’ and the Prime Minister fired back about the thirty something years it took for the emigre count to return to his native land! It was a lot better said than my rendition.

  33. So O is going to be on our soil for about 5 hours if I hear it right. That should be about a two underwear change for Heather.

  34. That should be about a two underwear change for Heather.
That’s pretty funny. I can picture her starting the day with three pairs on, and removing one pair every couple of hours.

  35. Just in time for his token visit, Canada is being blamed in the US MSM for halting the “Buy America” clause stating that Canada is threatening to take the US to World Trade court over it. I am wondering if the US will have to pay the billions they owe Canada in softwood lumber tariffs first. There should be some kind of warrant system. Oh sorry US there is an outstanding warrant for billions owed to Canada. You either pay it or the shipments of Canadian whole logs to be manufactured in the states, giving your country the manufacturing jobs with Canadian timber must be halted. Yes, put another Country in a false light before your President visits them, that way anything he says or does on our soil – no matter how outrageous will be portrayed in the MSM as righteous – after all we have become the enemy. I hope Harper has the balls to protect our resources.

  36. RCGZ.. I know economist are good at pontification for the most part but the guy who advised O said this would not work. PMSH has run an economy for three years give or take. He isn’t the junior partner here although the media would like to make it appear so. There could be some frank discussion.
