Isn’t that misappropriation of funds, and therefore grounds for termination?
The entire CBC should be terminated. That would save taxpaers a billion a year.

The CBC has its own Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Mirroring Liberal Party spending habits is, of course, a big part. They are still looking at eliminating audits so they won’t even have to record expenses.

I predict between now and the January budget vote the CBC will engineer the demise of the separatist coalition. Michaelle Jean can’t allow a formal coalition with fewer seats than the Conservatives to take power. Further, if the Bloc was to formally join the coalition she has a problem were a regional party is in clear control of parliament contrary to the spirit of federal governance.
Bottom line: if the coalition breaks up then there won’t be a non-confidence vote. No non-confidence vote means no February federal election. No federal election means no Harper majority and that means that the CBC continues to be entitled to its’ entitlements.
So there you have it, Canada’s media has to hold its’ nose and quickly cull the people holding together the coalition. Nobody’s more afraid of a Harper majority than the CBC.

Martin, my guess is that between now and the January budget, the Liberals-NDP will be fighting each other for the support of their constituency.
What Ignatieff is doing, I’m beginning to think, by his fence-sitting on the coalition, is a strategy of not alienating NDPers who support the coalition as a way to gain power. He wants them to ‘go Liberal’. But he doesn’t want to alienate Liberals who might have been appalled by this coalition.
Layton, however, has to hold on to those people, so, he’ll be fighting Ignatieff.
Rae will be fighting for the coalition.
Their agenda of ‘Harper must go’ is a strategy to deflect the facts – that they planned this putsch, they planned to take away the democratic rights of Canadians; they were setting up the Bloc, a regional party, to vett all Motions passed in the House. Whew..that’s a lot of dirt to hide under the rugs.
Only slightly off topic, but with a budget like that we should expect SOME Canadaian news coverage…especially about our Prime Minister.

The more I read about this stuff…the more it breaks my heart. The worst thing about this is that from the comment made by the CBC president, no less, they don’t see anything wrong with this person’s actions.
I guess when you can’t see how wrong it is to “donate” money and deduct it as an expense from your employer then the “wrongness” of the Liberal/NDP/Bloc’s actions would also be lost on you.
I hate point out the fact that both names mentioned are French–probably from Quebec.

I must admit I was listening to CBCpravda this morning driving in. they were busy blaming Harper for a revival of the Quebec separtist movement. I usually dont listen because they have me in a snit by the 14street bridge. but I took a safe route this morning away from pravda headquarters.
Yes, all sarcasm aside, I believe that is illegal. If he is claiming a tax credit for donations he expensed to the CBC, the CRA would like to have a word with him. I’m not saying he did, I’m saying IF he did.

Actually, I’ve always been uneasy about our Crown corporations (Sask Power, Sasktel) making donations to admittedly worthy causes such as the Jazz Festival and others. I don’t object to the causes but I object to the fact that as they keep jacking up the rates on heating and other necessities, their clients (who have few other options) are given no choice about making these donations. The fact that someone sucking hard on the public teat would use his privileged position to make further withdrawals to support various causes doesn’t surprise me either.

This is the one time I’d really like to see CRA go after someone and if he’s proven guilty of something illegal–I’d like to see him fired, fined the full amount (+ interest) of the embezzled monies–and this is important NEVER BE ALLOWED TO WORK FOR THE FEDERAL GOV’T AGAIN.

WTF! CBC is itself a form of Charity.. How or Why should Gov’t funded Agencies make monetary contributions to other like or similar agencies.
This is an abuse of basic Corporation monetary Principles. It would get the CFO fired because it provides a backdoor access to Corp funds. The Government MUST not allow the PLL’s money to be spent on Charities without Vetting at the highest level of parliament…

I have highlighted [all caps here] the brazen lies being perpetrated here by the CBC, repeated on Radio 2’s noon newscast today—that the PROPOSED (explain that untruth, please) coalition is comprised of two parties, the Liberals and the NDP. These two parties do not have enough votes to defeat the Conservatives—and that’s a fact, inconvenient as it may be for the CBC.
The newscast today did mention that the Bloq was going to support the coalition, a euphemism for CONTROL it. Of course, not mentioned—though duly noted by the citizens of Canada—is the fact that the Bloq is a SEPARATIST party. (If stating this is insensitive of me, too bad.)

I’ve watched CTV Tass this week: pretty bad, but not as gut churning and stroke inducing as CBC Pravda’s propaganda, which, it seems, is backfiring.
As if it weren’t already, CBC’s cronyism is fully exposed here—“Ignore that man behind the curtain”—but CBC doesn’t have either the eyes to see it or the ears to hear it. ’Not a smart move when your tenure’s in danger and the sleeping Canadian giant is beginning to awake and see the “smoke and mirrors” political picture in this country for what it really is: a Ponzi scheme for the socialists and separatists.

Without anyone to take the blame, CBC News is spinning fast and furious for the perfect CBC coalition – pro-left, pro-separatist (Radio-Canada’s pet project) and pro-Liberal.
On Novemebr 19, I wrote a registered snail mail letter to head honcho Timothy Casgrain, advising him how CBC might ramp up George Stroumboulopoulos “HOUR” ratings and get some conservative balance at the same time.
With a hard copy to the Prime Minister as well.
I am waiting for a reply from CBC.
That they do not even see why this is wrong indicates a state of rot beyond repair. Either privatise the CBC (begin with the French network) or totally clean house hiring only people with a modicum of a moral compass – being able to understand the different between right and wrong for example.
