  1. it’s really about those Ferraris
    Climate Policy as Farce
According to The Telegraph to deal with the issue of climate change the UK’s Chief Scientific Adviser, Professor Sir David King, has encouraged a “cultural change” among women to prefer men who save energy, rather than hog it, such as by driving Ferrari’s. And for those of you unfamiliar with UK newspapers, it is important to point out that The Telegraph is not the UK’s version of The Onion.

    Here is an excerpt:
Professor Sir David King said governments could only do so much to control greenhouse gas emissions and it was time for a cultural change among the British public.
And he singled out women who find supercar drivers “sexy”, adding that they should divert their affections to men who live more environmentally-friendly lives.

  2. Note to the EU:
Running the German economy into the ground has a nasty habit of snowballing into bigger problems.

  3. Maybe ol’ Buzz Hargrove and Dion can have some discussions about imposing the carbon tax on the Canadian Auto Industry. I’d love for Stephie to ‘explain’ it to CAW members.

  4. They’re just cluing-into this now?
Quote of the week: “Running the German economy into the ground has a nasty habit of snowballing into bigger problems.
    LOL

  5. Boy, oh boy, those French are slick. This is nothing but a backdoor economic attack on the competitiveness of the globally extremely popular Mercedes and BMW cars.
“…According to the European Commission’s plans, penalties on companies will start at 20 euros ($29) per excess gram of CO2 and rise to 95 euros in 2016.”
That’s artificially adding 95 Euros PER GRAM OF CO2 EMISSIONS OVER THE 120 GRAM LIMIT to the price of every German car AND raising a nice chunk of change for the EUro-grandees in Brussels to play with. Let’s make a hypothetical: If Mercedes-Benz and BMW can reduce their large models’ emissions HALFWAY from today’s 160 to 120 grams, that leaves them still 20 grams over the limit.
95 Euros X 20 = 1,900 Euros added artificially to the prices of Mercedes and BMW cars.
So, the French and Italians can’t build a car than anyone out of their own countries wants to buy. And even there, Benzes and BMWs are very popular. PLUS, Benzes and BMWs are hugely successful all over North America and other prosperous areas of the world.
Therefore, if you can’t build a car that people would freely choose to buy, make the competitors’ cars significantly more expensive. And use the “Global Warming” BS as a smokescreen for your financial attack. This will force many mainstream European car buyers to buy Renaults, Citroens or Fiats. Slick, mes amis francais, very slick.

  6. U.S. Senate Report: Over 400 Prominent Scientists Disputed Man-Made Global Warming Claims in 2007….
Over 400 prominent scientists from more than two dozen countries recently voiced significant objections to major aspects of the so-called “consensus” on man-made global warming. These scientists, many of whom are current and former participants in the UN IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change), criticized the climate claims made by the UN IPCC and former Vice President Al Gore.
The new report issued by the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee’s office of the GOP Ranking Member details the views of the scientists, the overwhelming majority of whom spoke out in 2007.
Even some in the establishment media now appear to be taking notice of the growing number of skeptical scientists. In October, the Washington Post Staff Writer Juliet Eilperin conceded the obvious, writing that climate skeptics “appear to be expanding rather than shrinking.” Many scientists from around the world have dubbed 2007 as the year man-made global warming fears “bite the dust.” (LINK) In addition, many scientists who are also progressive environmentalists believe climate fear promotion has “co-opted” the green movement. (LINK)
This blockbuster Senate report lists the scientists by name, country of residence, and academic/institutional affiliation. It also features their own words, biographies, and weblinks to their peer reviewed studies and original source materials as gathered from public statements, various news outlets, and websites in 2007. This new “consensus busters” report is poised to redefine the debate.
Many of the scientists featured in this report consistently stated that numerous colleagues shared their views, but they will not speak out publicly for fear of retribution. Atmospheric scientist Dr. Nathan Paldor, Professor of Dynamical Meteorology and Physical Oceanography at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, author of almost 70 peer-reviewed studies, explains how many of his fellow scientists have been intimidated.
“Many of my colleagues with whom I spoke share these views and report on their inability to publish their skepticism in the scientific or public media,” Paldor wrote.

  7. “Running the German economy into the ground has a nasty habit of snowballing into bigger problems.”
No doubt, and creates more make work projects for France’s carbecue youths to plant trees alongside roads so that the German soldiers can march more comfortably in the shade..

  8. Lol. I’m not sure why we liberated their worthless ungratful asses. The only thing it gained us is the same rude waiters when we visit…

  9. Anyone else see the latest Bosch enviro-mercial that shows the “spin” knob on a washing machine and a nasty tornado in the background with the voice-over saying “Ever wonder how your choices are affecting the environment”……now that is one tenuous little piece or marketing…..
    JCL

  10. JCL – “Anyone else see the latest Bosch…..”
Yes indeed! Quite the piece of work that one.
I can guarantee it won’t help convince me to by a Bosch appliance. Now their power tools……another story!
My plans to buy an Audi A4 may just have to be moved up or otherwise scrapped because I’m not paying the Eurotrash Envirotax if I can help it.

  11. OMMAG, go get that Audi A4. I drove a brand new one with a diesel and a 6 speed transmission in Germany a few years ago. Outstanding car. 170 Kmh cruising on the A9 from Bavaria to Berlin not braking a sweat. 400 kilometer trip in 2 and 3 quarter hours (145 Kmh average) and that includes Berlin city mileage as well. All that and 6.8 litres per 100 kilometers fuel mileage (43 mpg).
If they want to mess up the German car industry, the world loses big time in genuine top drawer automobiles, which are already the best to offer in the environmentally friendly department. And all for nothing.

  12. Germans are properly miffed because they get no retroactive points for the supply of thousands of economical, clean running TDI diesels since the mid 1990s.
Miffed too because it will cut into deluxe model car sales to the wealthy in the ME and USA and UK. = TG

  13. Just buy a used, low-mileage A4 (or even better, an S4 or RS4 if you can afford it) – very nice designs, fast-ish, 4WD, manual transmissions. Dunno about reliability or maintenance cost though.

  14. The EU! LOL!
I lived on planet earth once, and they had this thing called ‘weather’. Weird man…

  15. “The Anglicans have come full circle. They are now back to being Druids.
‘Impose a carbon tax, churches urge minister -Saving planet a sacred duty, Anglican and United officials say'”
    Heh.
Far be it from an old recusant like me to exhibit any “Schadenfreude” at the declining fortunes of Henry VIII’s church.

  16. Driving a nation into ruin to achive unrealistic goals is rediculous the people of germany should sue AL GORE and the greens for their fruadulent lies

  17. How about s kids type maze showing AL GORE at one end and a big bag of cash at the other and saying HEY KIDS HELP AL GORE GET TO THE CARBON TAX MONEY
