As rioting spreads beyond the “suburbs” and into Paris proper, Pieter Dorsman believes there’s a war on;
The term “Paris Riots” has become a complete misnomer. There’s war going on in France and that is coming from someone who is not given to hyperbole, but the facts have made that conclusion inescapable. It is almost unbelievable that the Chirac administration truly believed that it could somehow escape the jihadist wrath by staying out of Iraq and distance itself from America’s War on Terror. The bitter irony is that rather than having his troops deployed in the Middle East, the French president may now need them at home.
Of course, no one dares say such things out loud for fear of a French surrender.
The helpful Steven Plaut proposes a “two state solution”;
So after leading the Solidarity-with-the-Baathists movement in Europe during the recent Gulf War, France is now enjoying its own intifada by urban Muslim resistance fighters, in suburban Paris. Of course, this is all on top of France’s long history of supporting Islamist fascism and Palestinian terrorism.
Now, a few years back, during a trip to Israel, French Prime Minister Lionel Jospin urged Israel to make concessions for peace. More interesting yet, in documents relating to his visit, Jerusalem was called the ”capital of the Palestinian Authority.” And what do the French consider to be the capital of Israel? Tel Aviv, of course. This trip followed by a few years a visit made by President Jacques Chirac, who used the occasion of his visit in 1996 to announce that ”Syria has a moral right to demand return of the Golan Heights.”
These French politicians may be on to something important. Never one to back down from a challenge, I have prepared a set of proposals for consideration by the French people, so that not only can they preserve peace in Parisian suburbia, but they too can achieve a full, lasting and just peace with their urban resistance opponents.
Completely sensible!

update
Rioting has spread to nearly 300 French towns and cities, and beyond – there are reports of copycat attacks in Brussels. Lots at OTB including differing opinions on the significance of the riots.
In the media, the sanitization continues: Angry filters a CBC report.
At Captain’s Quarters, Ed Morrissey notes recent warnings are now largely forgotten;
Within six weeks of the GSPC [An Algerian Islamist organization] announcement, we see a massive and coordinated uprising originating from the ghettoes in which Algerian and other Muslim refugees and their families live. The “riots’ have sophisticated coordination between cell leaders, using the Internet and instant messaging as well as cell phones — an odd tool for a spontaneous demonstration where one neighborhood would hardly have those phone numbers at the ready.
Cosh has more.

I am eagerly awaiting a snotty comment from Gerhard Schroeder about this, with all the sensitivity he directed toward the US and Hurricane Katrina.
Looks like some in Turban affairs screwed up in France. I guess that’s because a socialist government runs the place. What’d ya expect.
See now you can see the value of a gun registry. I’ll bet they wish they have one in France.
Duke,
Couldn’t agree with you more.
The present state of affairs in this country is enough to make one weep.
The Fwench could move their capital back to Vichy again. That would stop those Muslim louts in their tracks wouldn’t it? And surely the New Muslim Caliphate in Paree would deal gently with the terrified Fwenchmen right…..??
Tonight on ctv Sandy Rinaaaaaaldo asked the correspondent covering this in her most nasal, whining voice “well, before the government can eeeennnddddd the riots, they must fiiirrrrsssstttt understaaaaaannnnddddd the rioters. Are they aaacccttttiinnng independently or are they paaarrrrtt of a sooooophhhhiissticated ooooorganization?” (paraphrased)
What’s to understand? 10 policemen were injured by gunfire. DUH!
Did France ever consider offering Mecca Cola at all Buerger King outlets to satisfy the riots?
Multiculturalism? by what athority? The young rioters are raising hell out of frustration.
The French Government is an isolationationist Ivory tower gang who have lost touch with their population.
If most of these young rebels had been given five years of military service, there may well have been no riots at all.
Frustration and unemployment will trigger this sort of thing.
Do you think the Watts riots in LA during the sixties were similar? Exactly.
This can happen in North Winnipeg or Toronto. It may be triggered by a police action or by just a grey cup or Stanley cup event.
In fact it did happen in Vancouver in a small way. This is a condition our new CPC government must work to avoid. TG

TG:
You’re turning into a moonie, old chap. So the French government is supposed to give these “misguided youth” a job and meaning to their lifes? If the terrorist wannabes want a military job they could enlist! Foreign Legion will take almost anyone, especially with bomb making expertise.
BTW: If this was a tongue-in-cheek comment then you got me.
Have a good day, eh.
I wouldn,t set foot in Europe its a hell hole. The next country with big problems is Germany that country has a unemployment rate of about 11or 12%
A two-State solution sounds great, but so does the sound of American tanks rumbling through Paris to save the poodles again. Either way would be a bitter slap in the face of the French.
Its not only France with a problem, its Denmark, as well as Sweden and of course Holland.
Why isn’t this being reported by the MSM, is it because they are afraid of stirring it up here. Read it and weep, because it all boils down to irresponsible immigration and importing in people who will not and cannot assimilate. If they don’t assimilate they can’t be successful anywhere. We might think France is snotty and getting its comeuppance, but the U.S. could be next, later Canada. Wake up and smell the coffee people, the true intent is complete Islamization of the western world. Poverty is only the excuse for the anarchy.

Muslim Riots Break Out in Denmark As Well
Texas Canuk, As usual I am guilty of speaking in code. First I never advocate giving anyhting to anyone for free. The recipient usually regards the gesture as worthy of the price.
No, I suggest two things. First avenues for endevour. Obvious ways to go after the dollar. Labour pools where you can show up, work as a truck swamper, a construction labourer or landscaper helper. Gets people into longer term work eventually.
Secondly, to stifle the French Ivory tower, let them eat cake attitude. The French have a lot of great attributes, but as red tape wielding bureaucrats, they can be insufferable assholes.

Read it an weep or laugh …er whatever you are supposed to do these days to not hurt feelings … I think….
Chirac talks tough like veal.
Oops … messed up on the link … try here.
Sorry.
Chirac talks tough like veal.
What the hell makes Kinsella and Wells ” Mainstream bloggers?” Why does the “Main Stream Media (MSM) ” attach more importance to them than, say, Kate, Angry, or the Western Standard’s Shotgun Blog. I think it’s just another effort of the part of the MSM to put down serious bloggers while still commenting on them. That stupid reporter should remember that people who visit blogs have a loyalty to them and that they are consumers who buy papers or advertise in them and pay that idiot’s salary.

Wise Old Squid…spraying purple ink exactly where it belongs!
Charlemagne stops them and Chirac welcomes them in and provides them with welfare checks. And people still believe in evolution? It’s probably going to take at least one European government to go all hard line and deport muslims en masse for the rest to follow. At least it seems some Denmark politicians in police protection think so.
Anyway you look at it, this is the Crusades all over again. Except we’ve got the unbearable handicap of Liberals and socialists in our midst.

I said over in the Shotgun to remember another Steyn comment.
To paraphraze:
If the mainstream elites deem whole subjects out of bounds, then the people will look out of the mainstream for alternatives.
Remember the campain “vote for the crook, not the fascist”?
Next time it may be “vote for the fascist, not the coward.”
Jean Marie Le Pen (the fascist) is probably happy. Think this overblown? Europe has gone to the extremes too many times to think it can’t happen again.
As a Westerner I wonder what stance would be taken by Vancouver or Edmonton’s city council. Appease, appease, appease I would think. Most major cities around the world are controlled by left leaning councils so it’s not suprising at the inaction and fumbling going on. A true asstrich/socialist response, that and blaming someone else.
When Europe needs help again, this time because of left wing stupidity, I wonder who they will call on?
Upon further reflection I say give them land, great idea. Radical muslim enclaves all over socialist france, go for it, what better way to expose socialist stupidity.
Much of the coverage of the Paris riots has blamed the policies of Frances Interior Minister Nicolas Sarkozy for abandoning French Muslims inside squalid ghettoes and failing to integrate them. But as Robert Spencer points out, it is the Muslims themselves who insist on not being integrated. In her book Eurabia, Bat YeOr details
a series of agreements between the European Union and the Arab League that guaranteed that Muslim immigrants in Europe would not be compelled in any way to adapt to the customs of the host countries.
The European Union has implemented such recommendations for decades so far from playing down the differences between ethnic groups, they have instead stood by approvingly while immigrants formed non-assimilated Islamic enclaves within Europe. Indeed, as Bat Yeor demonstrates, they have assured the Arab League in multiple agreements that they would aid in the creation and maintenance of such enclaves. Ignorance of the jihad ideology among European officials has allowed that ideology to spread in those enclaves, unchecked until relatively recently.
Consequently, among a generation of Muslims born in Europe, significant numbers have nothing but contempt and disdain for their native lands, and allegiance only to the Muslim umma and the lands of their parents birth. Those who continue to arrive in Europe from Muslim countries are encouraged by the isolation, self-imposed and other-abetted, of the Islamic communities in Europe to hold to the same attitudes.
The Arab European League, a Muslim advocacy group operating in Belgium and the Netherlands, states as part of its vision and philosophy that we believe in a multicultural society as a social and political model where different cultures coexist with equal rights under the law. It strongly rejects for Muslims any idea of assimilation or integration into European societies: We do not want to assimilate and we do not want to be stuck somewhere in the middle. We want to foster our own identity and culture while being law abiding and worthy citizens of the countries where we live. In order to achieve that it is imperative for us to teach our children the Arabic language and history and the Islamic faith. We will resist any attempt to strip us of our right to our own cultural and religious identity, as we believe it is one of the most fundamental human rights. AEL founder Dyab Abou Jahjah, who was himself arrested in November 2002 and charged with inciting Muslims in Antwerp to riot (Belgian Prime Minister Guy Verhofstadt said that the AEL was ‘trying to terrorize the city’, has declared: Assimilation is cultural rape. It means renouncing your identity, becoming like the others. MelaniePhillipsDiary
