MSM Coverage Begins

The Globe and Mail is out of the box with the Brault testimony.
There is almost too much to absorb in one or two readings. For all that we have heard about the depth and routine nature of the criminality, it is worse than I thought. This part jumped out at me;

In September, 2001, Mr. Brault needed something from Mr. Morselli.
“You’re asking a lot of me. I do what I can. You said `If I can help, I’ll do it’,” he said he reminded Mr. Morselli. “I challenged him.”
He told Mr. Morselli he needed to delay the bidding for a contract with the Justice Department.
He said Mr. Morselli called a few days later and asked him to his office, in an east-end industrial park. As he went in, he saw Mr. Mignacca leaving.
He said Mr. Morselli asked for $100,000 in cash. “It’s $100,000 and your problem is solved,” Mr. Brault said he was told

The scandal broke before the payments were complete.
If true, it means that Minister of Justice and Attorney General Irwin Cotler’s office has been compromised by the very people it is supposed to be investigating. It does not matter to what extent or in what manner. What we do know is that none of his officials or department employees have been charged or publicly implicated – so it is not unreasonable to suspect that there are individuals there who are still playing for the other team.
In this light, every move by the Justice Department in prosecuting (or not prosecuting) individuals involved in the corruption must be highly scrutinized for any whiff of conflict of interest or the setting up of tactical legal roadblocks, unless and until the Minister addresses the accusation and demonstrates that his officials have been thoroughly investigated for any role in the affair.

  1. Herb, this is fun and all, but I’m starting to think that you’re a complete idiot.
I didn’t give you the definition of “traitor”. It was “turncoat”, and it says:
    One entry found for turncoat.
    Main Entry: turncoat
    Pronunciation: -“kOt
    Function: noun
: one who switches to an opposing side or party; specifically : TRAITOR
You can see for yourself at:
    http://www.m-w.com/cgi-bin/dictionary?book=Dictionary&va=turncoat&x=5&y=11
While you’re at it, look up “defame”.
And what the hell is “personal loyalty”? Loyalty to oneself? Whatever it is, I’ll bet it’s not the same kind of loyalty as being elected by constituants in a riding and then spitting on their democratic votes to selfishly further one’s career.
The day that Harper runs for parliament on a party platform, gets elected by Canadian taxpayers on promises made, then breaks those promises to join the side his riding voted AGAINST, will be the day to compare him to Brison.
Like I said before – Da Canadian Values.

  2. To Herb;
You say you are from Ont. you wouldn’t be in one of the ten ridings that the Tamil Tigers are reported to have control, and is your name really Herb-Zakawri-Allah, or some such ? Just asking, what riding are you living in Herb, what ever your name is?
    Canamsteve:

  3. jhuck: yeah, and your definition of “turncoat”referenced “traitor”, which I’ve always understood to mean” one who betrays his country.” Perhaps you didn’t read what you posted. Or think about it. Or both.
And I always know I’m dealing with someone who’s losing an argument when they start name-calling.
Canamsteve: I’m not sure what kind of ugly point you’re trying to make, but I’m Jewish. If that helps you at all.

  4. Herb works for the fed libs and is trying to fly a few of their old tired “No we’re not criminals, they are” piece of shit arguments up the flag pole and see how they flap before being torn down and burned.
This automatic blind loyalty of everything liberal has come this close to killing our country and may soon succeed, guys like herb don’t care and just like brault and chretian will always do what serves their narrow interests.
    Pathetic.

  5. Private party, or can anyone join.

Herb, if you don’t want to vote or support conservatives, don’t, but you have to admit, the liberal party has a very bad record, not only on this, but other scandles as well.

I know your not going to convince us not to vote for them, so select an alternative(Green, NDP, Independent, etc.). This is a pointless argument getting no where.

Everyone has changed directions at some point, even PM PM when he didn’t get along with Chruton. I do have to agree with the point made above that Brison was elected as CPC, and right after walked across the floor. If he was in my riding I’d be pissed, as he knew the believes of the party going in. I can see Liberals walking across the floor at this point, and I don’t think to many people would blame them is they wanted to distance themselves and maintain there integrity.

  6. Herb, you being so prissy about name-calling (when you’re not labelling people as traitors and turncoats, of course, oh and suggesting that they climbed out from under rocks), I see no reason to address you as what you are, so I’ll just ask: what was it about the Conservatives that you saw (apparently only for the first time) last year that scared you so?
I mean, you can’t just be a coawrd. Any sane adult would look at a dangerous gangster like Gagliano and have enough sense to be afraid, yet you see nothing to fear and much to embrace. So how can you look at sober, honest, intelligent people talking common sense, and react in panic? What do you have to be afraid of?

  7. No need to explain who you really are herb.
No one thinks you came to this site to discuss and share.
You think by throwing gas on the fire you can somehow enjoy right thinking peoples outrage from scandolous theft and broken trusts.
If it makes you feel any better we all are pretty fed up, shamed, embarrassed and angry .
You seem to be here much like an arsonist would return to the scene of the crime and revel in others suffering.
Go ahead and vote liberal, just don’t try to give us any bullshit reasons of why you feel “You have to.”
    It’s all very lame.

  8. Herb:
Answer the question, which riding do you live in, you should be proud to answer, the fact that you are so proud of your “principals” so-called.
You must be enjoying the work of the Jew Coulter AG, that does not have the guts to make decisions, and hand the important stuff to the Chretien-Martin “appointed” Supreme court (joke), and though I am a Sharon supporter, being a Jew does not make you right, so forget the Jew stuff, and what I have seen with the Jewish support for the Liberals over the years, are you one of “them”? Are there no “radicals ” amoung the Canadian Jews, after all power is the name of the game, and we have seen how many “Canadians” slide into bed with the “devil” to share it.

  9. I dont’ believe anyone who describes themselves as progressive, with “Liberal values” would endorse anything about Scott Brison. Brison is a bigot – and he should have been publicly denounced by his party on the night of the election when he used the word “redneck” as a slur against rural Canadian culture and values.
I repeat – he is a bigot. And the way that Liberals toss around the word, I can’t help but think of 60’s era Southern Democrats and the epithets they used to devalue other human beings.
Never forget that. Those who would use the word in that context do not believe all Canadians are equally deserving of a voice in our society.

  10. One final thought Herb: I don’t really care if you vote Liberal. We’ve got to have somebody to taunt when they go down. But still, given the fact that you’re Jewish, it’s a wonder that you’re voting for a party whose former foreign minister, John Manley, arbitrarily (and undemocratically, as usual) offered to settle the Palestinians in Canada.
And yes Kate I definitely agree, the Liberals don’t rule by principle, they rule by prejudice. Bloody bigots.
