At which point, readers may object that being born in a relatively congenial part of the world is not a “privilege,” or by implication a basis for guilt, a thing for which to atone. Any more than being born somewhere less congenial is a sin, a thing for which to atone.
“I think they know they ‘got lucky’ but don’t really care,” chides one of the subsequent commenters. “Everything is luck and random chance,” insists another. Note the implication that the comfort and agreeableness of a society is merely a matter of chance, of luck. As if the preceding cultivation of values and behaviour played no part whatsoever.
As if culture and civilisation didn’t matter.

Toronto Star- Ontario prisons seeing more drone drops, with criminals often flying them right to inmates’ windows, guards’ union says
The drone situation has brought out a number of private companies like D-Fend Solutions who said they offer solutions to the illegal traffic.
Shooting the drones out of the air might sound simple, but it could have dangerous consequences, the company said.
Details of the inside job that was a gold heist in Peel Region, Ontario, are now emerging:
Five individuals have been arrested, charged and released, while three are wanted and one, King-Mclean, remains in custody in the United States.
It was last September when King-Mclean was pulled over in Pennsylvania on a traffic stop that police became aware of gun smuggling. After running from police on foot, King-Mclean was arrested and the vehicle he was driving was found to have 65 illegal firearms in it including automatic weapons.
Reports of heavy damage and a tsunami warning on X, some of it fake of course. This isn’t;
BREAKING: Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing, $TSM, evacuated factory areas after a major earthquake rocked its home island, endangering production at the world’s largest maker of advanced chips, per Bloomberg
Japan: Naha Airport Okinawa Earthquake – Everyone evacuated to the 3rd floor due to a #tsunami warning.”

Many people have asked why the New Democratic Party (NDP) continue to support Justin Trudeau’s far left policies and tactics? The reason they do so is because for Canada’s Bolsheviks, Trudeau hasn’t gone far enough.
From their beginning in 1932 as the Co-operative Commonwealth Federation (CCF) – now the NDP after a merger with the Canadian Labour Congress in 1961 – has always wanted to turn Canada into a socialist country. The Regina Manifesto was their earliest blueprint for Canada.
The CCF/NDP have always denied their far left intentions, even though they have committed them to paper on numerous occasions. So it is to be expected that they will deny them today. But once they gain power, they waste no time nationalizing the means of production. The NDP in Saskatchewan nationalized the mining, oil & gas, and forestry industries and made move to nationalize agriculture as well, something they swore they would never do.
Looking at the federal politics today, its is obvious that Jagmeet Singh and the NDP are not just supporting Justin Trudeau’s censorship bills and false promises, they are leading the way.

Part of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore collapsed early Tuesday morning after a 948-foot container ship, the Dali, crashed into it, sending cars and people into the water in what authorities are calling a “developing mass casualty event.”

Since 2021, lithium prices have surged 10-fold, only to crash back to earth, wiping out billions of dollars in miners’ shares and forcing supply cuts. The ripple effects of this ride are only just beginning.
The reversal of fortunes for the electric-vehicle battery metal has been nothing short of stunning. Its rapid ascent to a record in late 2022 sparked a rush by mining and refining companies to expand output, while automakers scrambled to lock in supply deals.
A little over a year later, it’s a different landscape. Major producers are issuing profit warnings, and in Australia — the No. 1 source of unprocessed lithium — miners are retrenching. Even Greenbushes, the country’s largest project, announced cutbacks this week.
The turnaround is bad news for the nation’s economy, where the hope was that energy-transition metals would breathe new life into a mining sector dominated by iron ore and coal. It’s already prompted discussions of government support, with one industry group calling for tax credits and royalty reform.
Lower lithium prices are, in theory, good for automakers as well as EV buyers. But in practice, the slump may deter investors as they wait to see whether the market has bottomed.
Globe and Mail- Canada’s chief technology officer accused of manipulating, destroying files at CBSA
Canada’s chief technology officer, Minh Doan, a central figure in the hearings related to the ArriveCan app and contracting misconduct allegations, faces accusations of taking unusual steps that led to the destruction of e-mails at the Canada Border Services Agency, a claim he strongly denies.
According to an internal complaint filed by a CBSA IT employee and obtained by The Globe and Mail, Mr. Doan is accused of moving data files around in a way that led to the permanent destruction of e-mails and other documents that may have been relevant to an access to information request about the agency’s interactions with GCStrategies. The private two-person IT staffing company has received more than $59-million in federal contract work since 2017.

When I first heard about Wab Kinew’s latest plan, the Simpsons’ Springfield Monorail episode came to mind. True to his socialist roots, he firmly believes that the only reason why Manitoba has not become a “have” province is because the provincial government never instituted the “correct” central planning scheme which would magically end Manitoba’s dependence on transfer loot from Ottawa.
Manitoba can cut its dependence on federal equalization payments over the next decade by going big on zero-emission advanced manufacturing, Premier Wab Kinew says.
The ambitious goal could be reached within 10 years, and would be achieved through building up a zero-emissions advanced manufacturing sector, the NDP premier argued.
The government must pursue a “few signature investments” that will make Manitoba a hub for mineral extraction, component assembly and exporting locally manufactured goods, he added.
A powerful earthquake struck central Japan on Monday, triggering warnings for residents to evacuate some areas on its west coast, destroying buildings, knocking out power to thousands of homes and disrupting travel to the region.
The quake with a preliminary magnitude of 7.6 triggered waves of around 1 metre along parts of the Sea of Japan coast, with authorities saying larger waves could follow.
The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) issued tsunami warnings for the coastal prefectures of Ishikawa, Niigata and Toyama. A major tsunami warning – the first since the March 2011 earthquake and tsunami that struck northeastern Japan – was initially issued for Ishikawa but later downgraded.
