It’s one month from the first Saturday in May and with today’s Santa Anita Derby behind him, a chestnut colt owned by small time breeders, out of a claiming mare and $2,500 stallion, trained by a 77 year old former jockey based at a quarter horse track has emerged as the Kentucky Derby favourite.
