He was one of a kind. Nice to see a common man do well.
Thanks for continuing to posting the odd thing about the sport of kings. It is a wonderful thing to follow. Hey, Santa Anita starts tomorrow. That was one of Jack’s favourite tracks. Yay!
Heh I remember a long time ago when Quincy would come on my parents would always sing

A fine and neglected film, “Twilight’s Last Gleaming” with Mr Durning a US President stands out in his body of work. Chilling Cold War rogue nuclear scenario with Burt Lancaster as the supreme baddie.
Durning was old school: he did his best in every role, worked hard, and never let fame go to his head. And he had a real life away from the camera. Because it’s Christmas I won’t draw any invidious comparisons with today’s crop of Hollywood vacuities.
