56 Replies to “Those American elections”

  1. At a 50/50 split, its STILL a disaster for Shrillary.
Its a protest vote against her, although the stupid is strong in DEMOland, even casting a vote for the commie Sanders instead of Hildabeast.
Best result going forward? The Demo party is split down the middle, worse than the GOP ever has, opening up the run for POTUS to Trump or Cruz (it doesnt matter which, ANYTHING is better than the lying, corrupt wench Hitlery, or the outright communist, Sandy Berners, not even mentioning the Big Eared idiot currently infecting democracy

  2. Dan, this Dem cycle is eerily looking like our last general election, where the boy just kept getting stronger and swept up all the me-me-me-mellenials.
I am predicting a Bernie win in the Dem party, and give even odds on him being president.

  3. The queen of Mean “laws are for little people” is a flat liner in the general. She has no core group or galvanizing issue..
One of the mistakes that the Republicans MAY make is to allow Hearings (the MSM would provide FREE
news coverage all the way to November… The ethical position is clear, do not pretend that the Republicans would consider a Obama nominee.. The media will have a snit, but Dems will have to pay to keep repeating (thousand knives) that dead argument.. DONE.
I would not count on Hillary or Bernie to survive Philadelphia….If Trump wins the Republican ticket, all hell will breakout… The amount of Republican Money available for Congressional races will dwarf democrats by an order of magnitude…
    Democrats know they can’t run Bernie… anti-capitalism is a death wish…

  4. Weelllll. The Hildibeast winning Nevada makes sense. After all, they do have the best Little Who@re Houses in the States!

  5. With the way that the GOP Establishment has been campaining against Trump, even retaining their surrogates on the media to fill the debate audience to boo him at every turn? No wonder he considers himself recused from the one-sided pledge to not run third party.
And Sanders? With the popular backing he’ll have despite the super delegate BS sewn up by HRC? He’ll run third party, too. Hell, he was an independant already anyway already.
So you’ll have the DNC Establishment candidate, the RNC Establishment Candidate, and two Independants. What a s**t show.

  6. My great concern is that much of the Republican old guard would rather see any Dem president than support Donald Trump as their candidate.

  7. Or to see Trump run as an independent if Cruz is the GOP candidate, thereby splitting the Right vote and handing the country to Hillary. The country has to matter more than self promotion.

  8. Nevada is considered a swing state. It went Dem in 2012 POTUS. Hopefully, it goes GOP in November. When Trump wins the GOP primary there on Monday, his nomination is likely unstoppable, save a hail Mary suicide pact brokerage to keep him out. In the general election if Trump takes NY (don’t underestimate him), it’s over for the Dems/Hillary. I hope nominee Trump promises to bring in a special prosecutor to look into Clinton Foundation shenanigans, and HRCs negligent breaches of security, assuming the FBI hasn’t already recommended charges. If so and, as expected, Obama &/or his SC nominee Lynch declines, then Trump can state he will proceed with those charges. That’ll put the Clintons and Dems in a good lather.
If Obama unwisely attempts a recess SC appointment, that top down action will seal Hillary’s fate. Hearings that excoriate his nominee will help the GOP. Refusing hearings gives Dems ammunition imho, but the GOP will remain in the driver’s seat, the election a referendum on Obama’s usurpation of Congressional powers given them under the US Constitution.
Some think Trump has topped out; but, at about 40% nationwide, he only has to pick up about a quarter of the fallen candidate votes. In the general election, he needs to take the majority of independents to win the White House. Ironically, according to polls anyway, Sanders beats all the Republicans. Again Hillary’s super delegates will pave her way to the nomination, despite embarrassing moments like her barking, saying the “always tried to tell the truth,” (perp attitude) and close popular votes in Dem primaries to a government welfare bum socialist, who has never earned a dime in the private sector.
The bellwether talk is likely irrelevant this time; the electorate’s in a surly mood so the vote is volatile, & previous indicators might not be relevant now.

  9. When I look at the Republican field, I feel like a kid in a candy store. So many good choices. When I look at the Democrats, I just feel sad that there are so many misguided people out there who think that “free stuff” is a national policy.

  10. “Hearings that excoriate his nominee will help the GOP. Refusing hearings gives Dems ammunition imho,” Shamrock
That is absolutely nonsense… If you have ANY understanding of ETHICS, you don’t interview anyone for a Job that does not exist…Republicans can’t play any more “SHOW” theater that will cast them of stupid unethical hacks…

  11. ya. Trump or Cruz. Im happy with either. w.t.heck, one takes the white house the other is VP. would that pass muster to happen?

  12. via Instapundit.
UPDATE: “By the way, this is the real scary part. ‘Trump won this week despite coming out for health care mandate, defending planned parenthood, blaming Bush for 9/11, standing by impeachment.’”
    Code Pink is happy!
Gonna be a lot of bitterly disappointed “conservative” Trumpists if he becomes POTUS.
Stunning the stuff people expect Trump to accomplish. Reminiscent of another populist who said that this is the moment when the seas stop rising and planet begins to heal!
I like the way someone recently put it: The American Idolizatuon of the presidential campaign.

  13. Given the alternatives, I’d go with Trump. You can read Ann Coulter’s column; she’s more eloquent than I.

  14. Hillary and Bush have one VERY BIG problem in common … voters have had enough of both of those family dynasties. America was founded on a revolution against a royal family, and a majority of Americans today refuse to vote for the closest thing to ‘royal families’ that America has ever had.

  15. Hitlery klintoon wins another game of “chance” to decide the outcome. Fancy that. She draws an ace and the burn draws a 6. What a lucky gal. There is nothing fishy going on here folks.

  16. If it is Sanders, the normally gutless republican patrician campaign consultants may actually challenge him, unlike the last two elections. They didn’t dare go hard against a very vulnerable Barack Obama for fear of being called racist. Obama was an easy candidate to discredit, just look at his actual performance these last 7 years.
The GOP Establishment will be happy to take on Sanders, the Old, White, New York Jew. They did not dare take on African American Obama, and would be almost happy to have fellow crony Hillary Clinton. They are scared to death of being called raaaaacist or sexist and misogynist. Things like that may not be true, but they are enough to get them disinvited from all the right parties, dinners, and clubs.
Watch, if the Republicans somehow nominate Cruz, you will suddenly see Hillary develop all kinds of new, supposedly conservative, supposedly republican friends. You might see the same if Trump is the GOP nom too.

  17. “If you have ANY understanding of ETHICS, you don’t interview anyone for a Job that does not exist.”
Nonsensical, ignorant and unethical remarks. You are the pot calling the kettle black. The Senate’s job is to advise and consent (or not if they wish) to the president’s nomination. The fact the GOP is pretty sure or convinced they won’t approve, or decide not to hold hearing is irrelevant to ethics.
You clearly have no understanding of my ethics, or the topic itself, and your inferior knowledge of the political process shows too. I won’t bother explaining further because you seem quite unteachable anyway, making insulting comments about others’ ethics for whom you know nothing of. Some may argue refusing a yet un-named nomination is unethical, but as I said you don’t have a clue anyway.
The job does exist, btw. It’s called a vacancy on the SC of the US. Maybe you have/had a nothing job, but I understand Justice Scalia was quite a busy fellow who had a real job. Addled minds like yours south of the border are part of the reason Obama is POTUS.

  18. You just don’t get it, do you?
The American public doesn’t care that he isn’t what you think a Republican should be. This time around, it’s burn it down time.

  19. Regardless of how CNN is trying to spin this, because clearly Trump is their dream candidate to ensure a Democrat win, and Rubio scares hell out of them…
Trump under performed: 32.5% is below his polling numbers.
Tonight was Cruz’s worst nightmare come true: He came third to Rubio, in a state that was supposed to made to order for him.
Bush is out. Few of these voters will go to Trump. Rubio is the obvious alternative.
WTF are both Kasich and Carson thinking about??? Sticking around gives Trump extra oxygen that otherwise wouldn’t be there for him. They’re both being pathetically self serving.
Trump’s ceiling is 40%, at best.
Rubio is, IMHO, on his way to victory.

  20. I don’t think so. Trump has momentum as the anti-establishment candidate. I think he will get the nomination. With a solid campaign he could beat Hillary.

  21. I agree, and also fear what DeNihilist said at 5:07. A combination of those two scenarios would mean that the United States is finished and would become a historical statistic as a thread a little while ago brought to light was that previous empire states last approximately 250 years.

  22. I’ve been following this closely (too closely – not getting sleep) on the American side. Basically, as it stands right now, if Trump doesn’t get the nomination, the Republican party is dead. If Trump does get the nomination and wins, the Republican party is dead. And maybe, if Trump gets the nomination and doesn’t win, the Republican party might still be dead. Rubio is a RINO slime-bucket, and more Americans are beginning to see it. Cruz has bought back all his good-will he earned early on. With the antics around Shrillary, Americans are getting the message that if the change isn’t YUGE, they’re screwed. Bernie won’t see the light of day.

  23. Trump strikes again. Cruz did well despite all the support for Rubio by popular Governor Haley and Lindsay Graham. Maybe Bush support and GOP money will be put on the unaccomplished Rubio.

  24. Sorry to come off so hard.. old practices are hard to forget!
The practice of Law or the Constitution provide nothing useful about Ethics (actually Lawyers are said to have Zero ethics) They will take a case/clients money even when success is impossible
My ethic understanding: It is the “principle” of things that you don’t do even when there is no LAW or practice preventing that action.. Mine was good enough for GE/NBC Corporation….
Obama may find a nominee that will be willing to stand for a confirmation that will never happen, maybe Kin-Jong-un would be willing to end his career…

  25. The world has become so sissified that even some SDA readers are afraid of Trump. Sort of blows my mind.
Rubio? Are you kidding? The man has accomplished *nothing* at all in his life.

  26. The Establishment’s war with Trump is over….Trump, Rubio, and Cruz & Carson are the policy face of the Republican party 2016… Trump wins, Rubio is the detail guy (Sec of State) Cruz (Attorney General) Carson picks his role…..The jelly bean goes back to Ohio… Carly VP
Trumps biggest & hardest task is the replacement pick for SCOTUS.. If he gets that wrong his Presidency will fail….
    That’s my take…

  27. Oddly I sense Rubio is now clearly identified as the “Establishment candidate, this will be the kiss of death.
The more obvious the RINO/CINO manoeuvring to dump Trump becomes the more voters go for Trump.
Almost like the dukes and duchesses do not get it, they had their chance and refused to act.
Now the mob is going to do the house cleaning themselves and the enablers of Obamanation are the enemy.
President Trump, better get used to it.

  28. @Slap Shot
There will be more than one SCOTUS appointment in the next 4 years.
And I think Scalia was murdered. How convenient for a conservative to go down now.

  29. “And I think Scalia was murdered. How convenient for a conservative to go down now.”
There are still decent people in the USA…He died in TEXAS among friends..If there was any suggestion of Fowl play they would have been on it like white on Rice… The political advantage CARD was not played because of sincere respect for Scalia & his family
If he had died in California.. the Governor would be in leg Irons…
    JMHO

  30. Nevada has voted for Harry Reid for some time now. That says all I need to know about politics in Nevada.

  31. The establishment will rally around Rubio (where was Chrisitie?) but Trump can get democrats as well as repubs, Rubio cannot. They call it the stupid party for a reason.

  32. Almost like the dukes and duchesses do not get it, they had their chance and refused to act. Now the mob is going to do the house cleaning themselves and the enablers of Obamanation are the enemy.
Quite so. Donald “The Sampson” Trump. We had to pull down the Liberals-in-Blue-Suites Party here in Canada. They are now doing that in the US (although colors are revered).

  33. 500 Super Delegates..

Hillary bought this race long ago.
Still believes she can win the nation, maybe?
    Who knows?
Busing in illegals, ASSocialists democrats voting dead people, many more than twice, computers making up votes. etc. etc.
They love her, Because she told them “She always, Always, tells the truth.”

excuse me, gotta go throw up again…….

  34. Trump isn’t ideological. I suspect Congress will be given back the power they have abdicated, whether they like it or not. Trump is a CEO, the details are left to subordinates. His job is to kick arse and bestow praise.

  35. Anyone want to bet the 2016 Democrat National Convention with Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, is going to be a war zone ?
    ‘Feel The Bern’…
The fight will tear the party apart, just like 1968.

    Great days coming Bro…

  36. Scalua was not among friends. He had never been there before. The place was owned by a Democratic doner and Obama accolade. A lawyer invited him. We do not know how close they were. An autopsy would have cleared the air.

  37. yes Dimwitt, you sure got it. You couldn’t understand ET’s “rise of the middle class”, now you come out with this brilliant comment. A lot of Trump supporters don’t support Trump, they are against all the rest. The only thing many of these ppl want him to accomplish is not be “all the rest”. And that is also why Bernie is doing so well. I hope Hillary wins the demo nomination and Trump (who I think is a buffoon) RINO nomination, as then it will be a cakewalk for Trump because many Bernie supports will stay home, OR even vote for Trump, just to show the establishment. Some in here, including me, were paying attention to why Obungles was voted in twice they would understand Trump and Bernie support, it’s not so much about their policies, it’s the dissatisfaction with the system.

  38. “FOWL play”???????????? You didn’t just write “FOWL play” did you? That’s HILARIOUS!!!!!!! Was he attacked by a chicken? Maybe he was choking it.

  39. You just made the common mistake that ALL the mediots are making, and the dumbocrats as well.
Trump is NO buffoon. I will give you $10 BILLION reasons why he isn’t. He didn’t get that wealthy by being stupid, careless, idiotic, or silly.
He’s mastered the art of public bluster, but being a masterful negotiator behind the scenes. He’s laid it out there for America, and they are buying in!
Keep making the same mistakes, underestimating your opponent, the rest of the dumbocrat world is, and most of the establishment GOP world is as well.
Ask yourself this, why isn’t Trump changing his strategy? Everytime a mediot declares that he has jumped the shark, his numbers keep improving. Heck, when he destroyed Dubya in the last debate, it seemed that Trump had gone too far, for good.
Result? Trump’s numbers went up. There’s acknowledgement, from the right, that Dubya made a lot of mistakes, and the Iraq invasion, and/or the occupation, was not executed thoroughly well. In any event, Dubya did many other things that were not conservative in nature.
Trump will be the nominee, unless he has a stroke or otherwise.
And Hitlery is a repulsive harridan, what a phony POS.

  40. No worries. Me too. I see great advantage in allowing Obama to refer a SC nominee to the Senate. This would likely be a leftist statist appointee, certainly not in the original meaning camp, given like their nominator Obama, they will think they have the right to change America to their radical big brother agenda. Along the way, other peccadillos may also surface. Yes, turn it into a circus like the Bourque hearings, and other Dem shows. Now the overlords probably can’t use the courts to usurp the Senate, likely killing off the idea of a recess appointment, though Obama will try, given this opportunity to put his narcissistic stamp on the Court, having already appointed two lefty activist judges.
If they refuse, Obama, even though he is surely the most petty of partisans, will mirror his ill will back to his willing media allies, claiming he GOP doesn’t respect the process. Either way, when Obama comes up with, AG Lynch for example, (who may need some payback for looking the other way on the HRC FBI investigation), then they can decide their course of action..
Make Obama look like the usurper. After all, that’s what he is, ruling from the White House with executive orders and such. A significant number of Americans are sick of this kind of politics, so let Obama make all the moves; then decide.
As for the GOP, while Trump can still be stopped, he has all the momentum and is set to pull of more big victories. Yes he only has 4% of the delegates he needs, he was declared winner last night based on 3% of the vote in, so these things have a way of playing out. In any event, the vote for the lower tier candidates was 22.6%. So for math ease, if 1/4 of the votes are in play to the top three, think of what it takes to stop Trump. We will see if he indeed has a ceiling of support. I think they’re wrong and agree with Trump when he says he’ll get a good share of others’ votes.
When, soon, this things drops to 3 candidates, things will get interesting. The GOP has three quality candidates right now, imho, while the Dems have a possible dog of a candidate who tries to tell the truth sometimes, and a ne’er do well socialist offering future tax increases, I mean free stuff, to mostly younger voters.
The media will need to take lessons from out Laurentian elite mediocracy cabal if they want to pull the wool over the eyes of the electorate in the upcoming general US election. The phones are probably working right now.

  41. Prediction, Super Tuesday…
Both Kasich and Carson will fade into obscurity…as they should.
This is now all about stopping Trump, which is on the minds of at least 60% of Republicans, not to mention very likely a considerable number of Independents whom fear for their country, and see neither Cliniton or Sanders in any positive light.
Those whom would vote for both Bush and Kasich, by far, are repulsed by the likes of Trump, and to a lesser degree, Cruz…and I doubt that a significant number of Carson supporters feel any differently.
Last night was a literal shocker for Cruz; Rubio finished second. S. Carolina appeared to be a perfect fit for him. He blew it, in large part because he ran a campaign that can only be described by words like sleaze and dishonesty. And on the “likability” scale, he fails miserably.
Trump got 32.5% of the vote, which actually falls a tad short of his polling numbers. He’s vulnerable. And his unfavorable ratings are the highest. 60%, give or take, of GOP supporters can’t stand the guy, and Cruz marginally less.
Cruz can invoke Reagan all he wants, but he doesn’t come even close to the inspiration that was his defining character.
Which is why the tide now turns to Rubio; he inspires in much the same manner as did Reagan. And at the end of the day, inspiration beats out anger and baseless bluster.
My hunch is that on the evening of March 1st, not only are Kasich and Carson finally finished, but that Cruz’s campaign will have ended up on the rocks.
Don’t tell me that Cruz’s hard core Conservative support will go to Trump! He’s the antithesis of everything for which they stand.
So then becomes a two man race, which Trump can’t win, I don’t care how you slice and dice it.
And, thus, neither can Clinton or Sanders.

  42. For the past few decades there has been very little difference between the Republican and Democratic parties. They are both corrupt and rotten to the core.
Now that Bush from the criminal Bush dynasty has dropped out the
Republican establishment are backing Rubio because he probably is
already bought and paid for and if not he easily could be. Rubio like
obama stands for nothing except to serve himself. Both Trump and Ted
Cruze cannot so easily be influenced and the establishment certainly
doesn’t want that so they will do everything in their power to prevent
    either one becoming President.

  43. Usually I’ve ignored US politics, but of late, because I’m a political junky of sorts, and because Canadian politics have become such a clusterunowhat, I’ve been getting my fix from the GOP primaries.
Initially, I gave ’em all a chance to impress me. Only Rubio accomplished that.
So I spent hours listening to him, not just his recent speeches and interviews, but over the years.
Conclusion? This guy is the real deal. His conviction and sincerity are unparalleled by GOP candidates. He is articulate, he is convincing, and he is inspirational in Reaganesque manner.
And he scares the living hell out of the Democrats!
‘Cause they know he will win.

  44. One thing Al.
Never make the assumption that ALL 60% will not vote for Trump. Dare I say, the splits to Trump, Rubio, Cruz, et all, willmirror the current splits.
You’re making the same assumption that the “strategic voting cabal” make here in Canada, that all votes will go, definitely only one way, if voters went full strategic.
The tendency though, is that statistically, not much changes from the norm/current statistics.
Trump is strong, Cruz’ people are also anti-establishment, while Rubio is the GOP insider’s choice. In a year where the voters are going anti-establishment, Rubio’s chances are not that good.

  45. Will Donald Trump be the Republican Candidate is the question and the next question will he survive the actual presidential campaign? i am somewhat surprised by coming across the following;

My surprise is not the comment, but the flagrent disregard for personal Risk by the commenter. He is a person who has experience within the highest levels of the U.S.A. Political Class; Acadaemia, and Media. With my limited blog posting skills it appears to me > indicates this has been forwarded at least once or twice. Anyways; the surprise on my part is not being unaware of the Threat to Mr. Trump in the general conversation with my several American Friends and acquaintance.
I do blieve if the Federal Bureau of Investigation does not move forward with the Investigation of the email misuse there will be a significant reaction by the Gen-x and Milleniels.I have no information in this regard, just Opinion.

  46. The notion that Rubio represents the “establishment” is, frankly, nonsensical rhetoric from the usual suspects trying to undermine his candidacy, for several reasons…the most prevalent being that Liberals within the MSM want Trump to win this thing, because it virtually guarantees a Democrat in the White House.
Rubio emerged from the Tea Party movement, and one does not have to listen for long to him to understand that he is a “constitutional” Republican in every sense of the word.
But here’s the bigger picture: He represents a new generational image of the GOP, which sorely is in need of as much. Just as critical, he speaks to a “heart” that has been missing from the GOP and Conservatives for a long time, too.
The “establishment” initially lined up behind what they perceived to be several candidates with all the “traditional” Republican credentials, principally Bush, and to a lesser degree, Kasich.
It’s become crystal clear now that this simply isn’t on the table, period, end of story.
So, if the GOP is going to win and prevent Obama 2.0, or God forbid, a cranky old socialist, from driving the agenda for the next four years, what to do next?
They have only one choice: Rubio.
Not because he’s the “establishment” guy still left in this race.
But because, of the three alternatives left, he is, far and away, the least objectionable. And in fact, for fans of Reagan Republicanism, he is as close to embodying the master as anyone has come ever since.
Cruz is, to just about everyone within traditional Republicans, an obnoxious jerk! And he’s prone, for whatever reasons that fewer and fewer can comprehend any longer, to proving as much on a daily basis.
By March 1st evening, the writing will be on the wall for, not just Kasich and Carson, but Cruz as well.
Because voters looking to block Trump will literally flock to Rubio. If Cruz finishes a distant third from Rubio in Nevada, given Bush is now history, which I’d bet they will, Cruz’s campaign may come to a screeching halt on that Super Tuesday.
And it goes forward as a two man race.
Think about it for a moment: Imagine Trump giving the “State of the Union” address.
    Now imagine Rubio.
The great majority of Americans care deeply about their country, and its image upon the world stage.
Trump would be a bloody disaster, and make America and its presidency the laughing stock of the free world…make that the entire world.
He’s done. As of last night the writing is on the wall.
