  1. Uh oh the Golden Boy is losing his golden touch already. Enough Liberal MPs defied the whip so the vote is no longer whipped.

  2. That link is behind a paywall at the Globe and Mail. Hell will freeze over before I ever pay to read that rag.
Perhaps you could just tell us the gist of the story?

  3. Hi Don. I’m not subscribed to G&M, either, so I suspect that it’s a cookie thing.
I suggest you delete any cookies you may have from them. In general I don’t accept 3rd-party cookies and have an ask before accepting cookie policy.
It’s basically a story about how the Libs have backed down on making the assisted-dying bill a whipped vote.

  4. hey, the Trudeau Court has already “whipped” Parliament and the medical profession, the rest is just theater… lets not kid ourselves… The “social conscience” of the country is dictated (“interpreted”) by the unelected unaccountable Supreme Court… just as the imposed Trudeau Charter intended. “Freedom of conscience”, like most dictates “guaranteed” by the Trudeau Charter is an arbitrary concept, its “guaranteed” unless the Supreme Court “interprets” otherwise. Theater can be entertaining though, I guess thats why 39% of Canadians and the Media elected a substitute drama teacher as PM. The cynical pretense of Libranos suddenly concerned by decisions of “conscience” is adorable.

  5. If you use IE or Firefox regularly, I suggest you also install CHROME, and set the settings to either not accept cookies. If that doesn’t work, then set it to clean out the cookies every time you shut it down. Then only use CHROME for the Mop and Pail, and NP websites (and others that only give you a small number of “free” visits.
It works quite well to get behind the WEAK paywalls, to enjoy annoying the lunatic left fringe

  6. Like the GOP south of the border, the Cons have become the stupid party. They are not conservatives, they are largely a infertile sunday school class. The bible bangers are ruining the conservative party by trying to force their religious bullshit on it. I know many conservatives who support “assisted suicide”, as I do. The unwipped vote is how it should proceed. The liberals, as incapable as Justine is, are getting things done the way many people think it should be done. Canada is supposed to be a democracy, not a theocracy.

  7. Be it the slimy Libs, Dippers or the Conservatives themselves, voting as the party tells you instead of your constituents is pure bullsh*t and that much more proof that the parties wield all the power in this system, with little left for us taxpaying peons.
IMO, the parties have become Royal Families and the only election choice left for those of us who pay the bills is who we wish to have plunder us next. Virtually every decision I see benefits the party that made it, the effect on the nation a secondary concern. I have yet to ever witness any party sacrifice itself for the nation. Quite the opposite, they are spending and regulating us into slavery while always focused squarely on improving poll numbers.
Since there is no one on this country’s horizon even remotely resembling Donald Trump, we need a major push for quality independent candidates in all ridings.

  8. Has nothing to do with “bible bangers”, moron. But then that’s how Liberals “think”, isn’t it? Just pigeonholing everybody into your own biased boxes.

  9. By all means provide us all some examples of bible thumping Conservatives pushing their “religious BS” on others. Think hard because if you can’t then you out yourself as an anti-religious bigot, though the evidence of that is already quite strong. I agree with Joey, your comments are, again, moronic.
I know, you just can’t stand intolerant people. Rather than sounding sensible, you wax hypocritical.

  10. I got the impression that they still will be whipping the votes — but realized that since they don’t have a bill yet, it is a bit premature to say so. (embarasding).I believe the UN wants euthanasia as it will be an important tool for bringing in their Agenda 2030. The Trudeau government takes its orders from the UN.

  11. That comment makes no sense. Anyway, we are not a democracy anymore. We are the first post-National country (according to our astute PM). We are a United Nations puppet state.

  12. not only the party, but the *leader* of the party. as in diefenbaker (the teacher’s assistant in my poli sci course explained how dief would formulate policy in his head on the fly), turdeau, who else. oh ya, dion, and recently harper. feel free to add to the list.
they’re ALL the same, regardless of party affiliation or ideology. like an episode of ‘Who’s the Boss’.
we need to press for some variation on proportionate representation. it may be doomed if the edukashun cystem corrupts the malleable grey matter of the present school aged generation. they are at risk of forever losing any capability of objective analytical thought.

  13. What they mean is that they can’t whip the vote until the actual bill is tabled.
Once its tabled….and they muzzle their caucus….then the vote will be whipped.
    Governing is hard.

  14. Nothing makes us “bible bangers” happier than having you prove the Faith with every word you bleat.
    So, thanks for that.

  15. Im trying to figure out what the nme is.
you have a limited view mr antichrist of that human experience called faith. every year we learn more of the exquisite simplicity and yet vast expanse of existence (gravity waves !!!). long ago I concluded it was beyond preposterous to even nudge towards the belief it all happened ‘by random chance’. I’m equally convinced NO ONE knows the bedrock truth how we arrived at this point in time.
A fundamental aspect of my faith was the realization *time* *had* *a* *beginning*. wow. and then scientific journals describe experiments where the speed of light slowed to a crawl thru some crystalline structure or whatever. maybe time for those photons was slowing down. then the astronauts took an atomic clock up with them and sure enough it slowed down *precisely* *as* *predicted*.
far out. Who arranged that? what it boils down to is I decided to apply the brutal ruthless unforgiving hard logic of computer science to the question of is there a God. the evidence rose up, time and time again perfectly reasonable explanation contradicted the ‘AGW’ type broad politically correct view of long term geological events and evolution wedged in that time frame.
then I watched a documentary about some gigantic cascade of water in the Oregon area at the end of the last ice age that was so forceful and quantity the water it pounded the rock like a jack hammer and carved holes that did NOT take millennia to form. only minutes or at most hours. and the grand canyon? same deal. entirely plausible it was formed in a very very brief time thru a vastly bigger water flow. water can smash down mountains, it can certainly find the line of least resistance and even carve out that line for itself. It doesn’t take millions of years.
one of the earliest debunkings I had on my own of the ‘accepted’ version of life on earth was the bull shyt about oil coming from the decomposed carcasses of dinosaurs. including apparently all that methane. hmmm. says me. by that, Neptune was populated by dinosaurs at some point, else where did its atmospheric methane come from? oh. it can also be the result of GEOLOGICAL process eh? but try and find that factoid in the high school text books. betcha virtually ALL of the natural gas we burn to stay warm is from THAT process.
that understanding was a stepping stone towards ‘throwing out’ the rest of the crud in said high school textbooks and starting all over with what *I* was certain of. endeavoring to be objective, stepping back from assumptions, reassessing along the way, etc etc.
there is a God, He has a plan, humahns repeatedly attempt to bring Him down to *our* perspective and then demand explanations why things happen.
and He gave ALL of us free will. He will NOT be surrounded in eternity by yes men. only those who CHOOSE to believe and all that follows. I hope you see the light some day.

  16. Linda, you nail it. Besides overturning everything PM Harper accomplished Trudeau will make it come to pass that Canada is legally tied to the UN and its agenda.
Something must have happened to NME to develop such hate.

  17. Sean M….I like Scalia’s comment on the SCOTUS, it applies in Canada as well. “A system of government that makes the people subordinate to a committee of nine(US) unelected lawyers does not deserve to be called a democracy”.

  18. Liberals to whip the vote in favour of assisted-dying law..

California law coming soon to a Canadian Providence ?
Greedy grand-kids putting many old hair headed hippies to death in California,
and now we can get rid of the same hippies in Canada..
Keep whipping Liberals to the grave… yo.

  19. When we had the last Liberal government and they had a free vote on same-sex marriage I called my Liberal MP and told her how I felt.
She told me in no uncertain terms that she was well educated and she didn’t need my opinion.
    So much for referendums?

  20. “Im trying to figure out what the nme is.”
    A crank and a crackpot.
Do yourself a favour and ignore his nonsense. Consider it as a nuisance part of the SDA landscape.

  21. Assisted suicide was rammed down our throats by 9 pompous, dictatorial assholes living in an ivory tower.
Looks like even a few Liberals aren’t ready to knuckle under.
    NME666 is a total asshole
