The official tasked with overseeing the membership of the federal Liberals in British Columbia has resigned after party brass halted a bid for a nomination that he was chairing.
Mike Hillman, who first joined the party in 1968, said he resigned as membership chair of the party’s B.C. arm on Tuesday because barring former two-time Liberal candidate Wendy Yuan from running was contrary to the wishes of the party faithful in the new riding of Steveston-Richmond East.
Over the weekend, Ms. Yuan was disqualified as a nominee, with the party telling reporters “some serious issues prevented” her from being approved as a candidate. Instead, the party announced it would acclaim former Richmond MP Joe Peschisolido at a meeting Tuesday evening.

Ms. Yuan has quit her position as policy chair in the local riding association, along with her spokesman and riding communications chair Sunny Chiu. Five other executive members, including president Peter Xie, also resigned. Mr. Xie and two other members were on vacation and unaware of the unfolding controversy.

Something else that the media will never look at.
So reporters (plural) were told there were some “serious issues” preventing her from being a candidate. Did any of those serious, professional journalists think to ask what those “serious issues” might be? Or was this lame explanation just accepted at face value and dutifully scribbled down? Must not bring Justin’s bullying stances over things like pro-life or other moral beliefs (just my speculation)into the public eye. After all, we all know Harper is the bully, right? Don’t give the electorate anything specific, unless it involves the CPC.
Unless supported by more solid evidence, an affidavit is not recognized in Canadian law as anything more than hearsay evidence.
Oh and just to protect my back: I *hate Liberals and any Leftists even if they claim to be conservative.

Elections are a popularity contest for the clueless, who happen to outnumber the clued in.
Sad but true, we will witness the end of the democratic experiment in our time.

I just think it’s funny as hell that there are people out there who would fight for the right to be a Liberal.
The Spawn is failing miserably at inspiring the mindless thus preventing an effectively split leftist vote and as a result the likelihood of an NDP government is increasing.
The sad part is there are still people who think the liberal party is not just a criminal gang.
I don’t give Peschisolido much of a chance. He was elected in Richmond (I can’t recall which riding) as a member of the Reform Party. A couple of years in he crossed the floor to the Liberals, and then lost the nomination to Raymond Chan, who also figures in this story. I don’t see him as a popular candidate, and his history won’t help.
An affidavit is someone’s sworn testimony. Hearsay evidence is someone’s testimony as to what someone else said. “I saw him steal the TV” isn’t hearsay. “He told me he stole the TV” is hearsay. They may both be the subject of an affidavit.
