Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Isn’t this a basic protection racket? Cutting in on the mobs action.

On the topic of China, this one floored me when I read it. Had no idea Harper screwed us over like this as he was heading for the door:

Harpeur was a big disappointment. Another “Vendu” AFAIC.
Liberal Minister supports a lawsuit against a Global News journalist, ordinarily that’s plainly disgraceful in a civilized country, but we’re sliding away from civilized with every Liberal step towards China, so, hopefully this might wake up the stupid in journalism, because they’re next.
Please don’t be unfair to Great Leader. A dictator should be able to do anything he wants. Meanwhile with the help of his lapdogs in the NDP and Greens, he has banned parliament for the summer. Oh well, its not like there is anything going on right now. The canoe at Harrington Lake awaits.
Hey John, we have a virtual parliament with a virtual PM and a virtual budget and virtual money and a virtual government. Why bitch? We have virtually everything a civilized country could want.
Look at it another way; all those unessential government workers that were sent home are still getting paid. The Libral government is splashing money around with no accounting. Why would anyone want to change it?
I will give the MP a bit of an out since it appears that she allows unmoderated posts to the account, BUT she needs to stop that from happening. So the test for me is how soon does she shut it down? If not today, then she is as complicit as the originators of the posts.
There was a time when persons responsible for a particular subset of the system would fall on their sword when their incompetence was revealed. As we became more advanced, we still had people resigning their office when they were found out. I suppose that was an improvement; at least it lessened the immediate mess of blood and guts all over the floor.
But the spate of abject failures that we are witnessing in the 21st century does not seem to trigger any regret whatsoever on the part of the folks pulling down massive salaries “because we are indispensable “. Instead they further pluck the feathers of the taxpayer bird by lawyering up at public expense.
I long for the old days.
I was thinking about that earlier today. Not one of Dear Leader’s cabinet ministers have ever resigned for a faux-pas or indiscretion (e. g., Monsef and Sajan). Even under PET, people still did the honourable thing and fell on their swords, so to speak.
I remember watching part of a TV interview about Monsef’s “mis-remembering” where she was born. She had a smirk on her face because she knew that she was going to get away with it and that nothing serious would happen to her. Being assigned to a lesser portfolio was, at best, a light tap on the fingers.
I don’t recall much falling on swords while PET was in office. just the occasional fuddle duddle, which showed his distain for Canadians. Yet foolish sheep still thought he was just great as he started Canada on the downward slide that will end very soon I would think.
We can leave this third world shithole any time we want. Quebec has provided us with the blueprint.
Thanks for the post. Our establishment media, of course, will censor this story.
I don’t have a problem with the minister having a WeChat account per se. It’s a reasonable method of engagement with her constituency. However, it should not be treated as anything other than a PR account, and it should be fully moderated under her responsibility. Zero sensitive information should be posted there. If she’s not willing to exert full control over this group, she should delete it. Her constituents can still communicate with her via messaging.
