Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

“The UK government will set out Second World War-style measures to keep the lights on and avert power cuts as a “last resort”. ”
The people responsible for these policies are the same people who tell us mass migration from Third World Hellholes is a net positive for our economies.
They need UKIP badly. Their conservatives are even more liberal than the Alberta and Ontario PC’s. Plus many of them including Cameron have relatives making a fortune off the scam. Cameron’s father in law has a wind farm on his estates.
£2,000 per year. How much are they being subsidized? My home electric bill is approximately $2400 a year now for a 2000 SF house in coastal Georgia, USA. My office bill is approximately twice that for a 2,200 SF brick building that is approximately 15 years old.
UKIP needs a snappy election slogan like:
“All Climate Change Crooks To Prison!”.
Pop over to Eureferendum.com for the background of this story; the Press appear to have overhyped it.
EUReferendum has it pretty accurately, the press has indeed overblown the issue. One thing that EUR did miss is the reduction in imports. If Britain is experiencing severe demand because of weather, it’s reasonable to suppose that its neighbours will be suffering much the same, so indeed there may not be 3,000 MW available for import through the interties.
However, what’s missed in all this is the backup generators. All nuclear plants have backup diesel generation for maintaining plant power in the event of loss of grid. They’re not much, but across Britain they amount to several hundred MWs in total from the various nuclear stations. There’s been a few times in Ontario during the past couple of decades when they’ve been used for just that purpose, particularly in the event of coal-station outages during severe winter weather conditions.
I lived in the UK for most of the first decade of this century.
It was sadly far too routine to hear about old age pensioners who froze to death in the winter because they were too afraid to use electricity and gas due to the cost.
A society that permits such a thing has no sense of shame at all.
What’s needed is a lot of eco-weenies hanging from lamp posts.
Given the rate at which the greenest religion on earth is making headway in the UK, the need for electrical power is going to diminish dramatically. I don’t see a problem here.
I live in a moderate climate on Vancouver Island and my equal billed electric is 249 per month. That adds up to more than 2000 english pounds per year …. @ $2988.00 … then there is property tax about the same amount … then insurances …. gas for the car, insurance for the car … then cable, phone, internet etc … then theirs the outrageously pricy food stuff to buy …. then clothes and haircuts and some medication and dental … we don’t have coverage we are retired …. We are being ripped off because of zero interest rates …. so all my saving are either being drained away by banks and stock marketeers and government extortion.
It’s almost over folks … if Justin gets in .. it will be mercifully quick.
My power bill averages $200 monthly on cheap coal fired power. Wind and solar alone (without coal backup) might cost 10 times as much. I really don’t have $2,000 monthly to spend on power. A little truthfulness in cost projections might be appropriate.
The first thing they should do is cut power to any and all environmental organizations. They should also make everyone register as either a global warming alarmist or skeptic/denier, and then cut power accordingly. After all, it would be hypocritical at the least for those greenies to not practice what they preach.
