  1. The girlfriend has helped the environment far more than the rest of this group ever did.
    Too soon?

  2. Kate…you slay me. 🙂
Oh..and I have to clean up the key board. Do you know how hard it is to get coffee out from between the keys!!!!

  3. I’m just going to emulate their hero born today and start communizing leftard useful idjits and composting their remains. Should be fun.(Apologies to anybody who has felt the scourge of communism)

  4. That reminds me, I have a pile of scrap lumber from my kitchen renovations to burn tonight. While I leave the diesel tractor idling to charge the battery and leave every light in the house on. I think I have some used engine oil to pour on the wood too.
    Viva la carbon libre!

  5. The conversation today:
Son: “Dad, it is such a nice day I would really like to walk to school. But they are giving out candy to those who carpool. So could you drive me, and could we swing by and get my girlfriend?”
Me: “I’m proud of you son.”

  6. Kate. Your tweet seems to have vanished from the twits twitsite. Colud they be against free speech??

  7. At the obvious risk of introducing the old “argumentum ad Hitlerum” here, do you realize we completely missed the Führer’s 125th birthday on Sunday?!
Surely if anyone ever deserved Earth-friendly credit for disposing of so many noxious carbon life forms, he was the man.
Bonus features for all you progressives: Hitler was a vegetarian and an anti-Zionist. I have no doubt he’d have approved of Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) against Israel!

  8. “When Philadelphia police questioned Einhorn about her mysterious disappearance several weeks later, he claimed that she had gone out to the neighborhood co-op to buy some tofu and sprouts and never returned.”
That statement made me LOL! Of course, what else would she be out shopping for?
Funny how the Greens now try to disassociate their movement from Unicorn and claim a dead ex-Governor is the real founder of Earth Day.
Which is kind of akin to neo-NAZIs not mentioning a certain Austrian Corporal in their literature.
Sorry, greens, he’s YOUR guy,you own him,and you own his actions.

  9. The first Earth Day was celebrated on the 100th Anniversary of Vladimir Lenin’s Birthday. After all, what is the difference between the Green Agenda and Communism? Both believe in eliminating individual property rights, and want to create a dictatorship to achieve their goals.

  10. Thank you for pointing that useful fact out about Lenin’s birthday. I never made the connection.

  11. Yeah …. I’ll just keep it simple and clean up my yard. On a more positive note … the city ran street sweepers last night and improved our “environment” by getting rid of tons of sand and debris from the street.

  12. Some good ones in that link, peterj!
“‘I’m scared,’ confessed Paul Ehrlich in the 1970 Earth Day issue of Look. ‘I have a 14 year old daughter whom I love very much. I know a lot of young people, and their world is being destroyed. My world is being destroyed. I’m 37 and I’d kind of like to live to be 67 in a reasonably pleasant world, and not die in some kind of holocaust in the next decade.'”
Ehrlich will be 82 at the end of May so not only is he still living in a “reasonably pleasant world” but he’s had almost 14 years more living in it than he wanted. Bonus!
Oh, and his daughter is 58, presumably also still living in a “reasonably pleasant world” herself.

  13. Just got back from an Earth Day event in one of the most depressing cities in the USA (I’m not kidding). You know, you see these all the time on the telly – cleaning up a vacant lot, planting flowers, etc. Give it another couple weeks the trash and weeds will be back. A complete waste of time of course, but I work in the environmental consulting field and so I had to be there.

  14. “What are you doing to celebrate the Earth today?”
I’m getting my bio-digester up and running with a good feed of Labatt’s 50, pickled eggs, and venison jerky.

  15. The “do as I say, not as I do” example of those who know what is best for us and Gai needs to be made over and over again.
The folks who start these kinds of movements do not behave like me and you. They are the arbiters of the settled science, they are the tribes top man, they are Plato’s Philosopher Kings, they are Obama’s Czars, they are Orwell’s pigs. They don’t need any laws because they are motivated to act for the good of the group and they know the good of the group and if they are acting contrarty to the law or social mores of the group, that is alright because they they know better and their feelgood for the betterment of all purpose puts them above the laws.

  16. Happy Lenin’s birthday.
I’ll be spending it doing what I normally do, unless I get a chance to do something spectacularly environmentally unfriendly. Then I’ll do that instead.

  17. I’ll be celebrating Earth Day in the usual way — by placing a 1500 Watt space heater inside my old beer refrigerator, and seeing which one wins.
It may take weeks to find out.

  18. Hitler was a piker. Stalin, now there was a guy who knew how to compost. But for sheer numbers, Mao is your man. He won the sweepstakes with his Great Leap Forward.

  19. Hitler, Stalin and Mao were wimps! Environmentalists have managed to kill over 50,000,000 since their ban on DDT. They are still disposing of over 1,000,000 a year with malaria so they are doing their bit to combat over population.
Its OK though because they are mostly black women and children.

  20. I just put up my “I (heart) CO2” sign, and restrained myself from confronting Dr. Fruitfly in Calgary today.
I did not do a serious load contribution during Earth Hour this year, using mainly energy efficient laser and led and xenon and neon lights, so I am sorry to say that I did not do my part, as Calgary’s electrical load was down 0.5% from last year. Unacceptable. I could have made a difference.
I’ll try to have my own pixel again on the sat photo next year.

  21. Obama will burn more than 35,000 gallons of fuel on Earth Day, emitting 375 TONS of carbon dioxide
President took Marine One chopper to Andrews Air Force Base and will fly to Washington state and Tokyo, Japan on Tuesday
‘Earth Day is about taking action,’ the White House declared shortly after takeoff
Air Force One consumes 5 gallons of jet fuel for every mile it flies
The U.S. Energy Information Administration estimates that burning the fuel emits 21.1 pounds of CO2 per gallon
Total presidential fuel consumption for Earth Day, not including automobile motorcades, is an estimated 35,609 gallons
President Barack Obama is marking the 44th Earth Day with a carbon-emitting extravaganza, spending more than 15 hours on Air Force One and 15 minutes aboard the Marine One helicopter.
Not including his motorcades in Oso, Washington, the site of a recent devastating mudslide, his trip will consume an estimated 35,565 gallons of fuel.

  22. We are no better in Calgary. Years ago a seasoned alderman claimed she could no longer enjoy her tea because she saw a windsurfer on Glenmore reservoir and sometimes they fall in and could pee in the water. So Windsurfing is now banned from the lake. Upstream there is a nature reserve, ranching and farms with septic fields.
It is amazing how so many intelligent people, who hold power and authority over the public, are so incredibly stupid when it comes to simply logic.

  23. “It is amazing how so many intelligent people………”
What makes you think they are intelligent ? All you need is the gift of gab, a desire to be in the spot light, feed from the money traugh and usually the satisfaction of forcing your power trips on a meek, gullible public. Logic, common sense and politics are seldom compatible.
