    A few hundred years ago, children were treated as mini adults. The developmental stages in childhood were not known or recognized back then, now we know that children are not mini adults, yet there are those that wish to take us back a few hundred years to fulfill their pedophilia compulsions.

As you said before, something can be morally wrong but not legally criminal, like, say, being a Nazi or professing Communism.[1] The distinction is between morally wrong and legally indictable. We tolerate many things that are morally wrong in order to avoid the larger evil of the state’s monopoly on the use of force intruding into our private business.

If Germany considered him a criminal then Canada should have treated him as a political refugee and supported him for having his views, as guaranteed in the Charter.

  33. @Rick – There a couple of differences with the Zundel story. The biggest is he didn’t keep his thoughts to himself, he spoke them. Second, in Canada we criminalize speech, as reprehensible as that is.

    If a person has diseased ideation they will eventually have diseased behavior. It is a fantasy that only a Leftist could seriously entertain to think such an individual will not act on their mental malfunction. Furthermore if you remove the social punishment for the behavior, as suggested by the author, there is no reason why they wouldn’t act on their diseased drives.
    The fact that psychology can’t “cure” pedophilia should come as no surprise, despite huge amounts of money and effort they can’t cure depression, bipolar disorder or schizophrenia either. Sadly unlike depression etc. which only destroy the people who have them, pedophilia destroys the -victims- as well as the pedophile.
    The reason to punish pedophiles is the safety of children and the continued functionality of social institutions that deal with children, such as schools, churches, sports etc. If children are being molested in these institutions two things will happen. First those children are going to grow up weird, and second those institutions will be destroyed. Parents will not knowingly expose their children to that kind of danger.
    That’s why Leftists champion deviancy. They are TRYING to destroy all existing social institutions, and they know this is a good way to do it. Leftists view the damage done to the Catholic Church by pedophiles as a -good- thing.
