  3. Nolan is doing shit casting in an attempt to get an Oscar, which has a whole bunch of stupid rules about diversity.

    He is treating the Odyssey as a Farce, and should be roundly mocked.

      I read those rules recently.

      They are the thing that now makes it impossible to film a historical movie without race or gender swapping the main characters, and gives us stuff like a black Cleopatra and black Viking chieftains.

      Strangely though, it doesn’t seem to affect movies like Wakanda Forever or The Woman King by requiring white characters to be substituted into key roles. Hmm…

      1. Madeline was an utter comic GENIUS. she brought a unique, *aspect* to comedy.
        an entirely different approach. heavy on spontaneity l think it was.
        and those legs. crikey. not since Dietrich were we blessed with such perfect gams.

    1. Here’s what I don’t get. She was actually an attractive ‘girl’ when playing Juno. Quirky, and a weirdo … but a ‘cute’ girl. That’s why she was cast as a somewhat innocent HS girl who falls pregnant from one awkward unsatisfactory sexual encounter/accident.

      Why would someone HATE their own sex so thoroughly that they’d pretend to be something else. It makes no sense … which pretty well certifies it as a mental illness. If we had medical ethics instead of moral equivalency and situational ethics … she’d be going to intense psychotherapy every other day … and still have her breasts, ovaries, and estrogen.
