change.org- Petition to Revoke Mark Carney’s Canadian citizenship
We, the undersigned Canadian citizens, call upon the Government of Canada to revoke Mark Carney’s Canadian citizenship on the grounds of conflicts of interest that raise serious concerns about his eligibility to hold public office and influence national policy. The reasons for this petition are as follows:

Signed!
That is one petition I was glad to sign!
How does revoking his citizenship change anything? Even if it happens, which it won’t AFAIK it doesn’t prevent him from running for public office. If you don’t like him, don’t vote Liberal. Easy Peasy.
On my part,it’s just revenge for the petition started by Charlie Angus to revoke Elon Musk’s citizenship, and Musk only has two.
“On my part,it’s just revenge for the petition started by Charlie Angus to revoke Elon Musk’s citizenship, and Musk only has two.”
For me (if I were to sign it) it would be revenge for what Chretien did to Conrad Black.
Musk has three citizenships:
– South Africa
– Canada
– United States
I think he has three passports, not citizenships. A citizen can vote, participate in politic processes and get access to social services, a
assport holder can’t except in the country that he is a also citizen of is how I understand it.
And musk is not running for public office. He already has a job!
Carnage, otoh…
As for the petition, you may have better luck demanding that Carnage renounce his other citizenships. It should be that you must have Canadian citizenship to run for public office in Canada, and no others, which could create a conflict of interests. To obtain citizenship, you need to swear loyalty to that country above all others, do you not? Well, that being the case, how can you swear loyalty to more than one country (In Carnage’s case, three independent countries) all at the same time?
I am a citizen of Canada by birthright, never had to make an oath of loyalty for it. I am also a citizen of the United Kingdom by birthright, also not required to make an oath of loyalty for it.
Signing is solely to show the progressives they no longer control the airwaves, or modern channels of information communication. Hence, their ideas are dying.
And also to have fun. Show your favorite progressive the current stats! As of now… revoke Elon at 1350. Revoke Carny at 7700.
why isn’t through the House of Commons signature process like the Musk one?
The move to take Canadian citizenship away from Musk came from an MP?
If 12 of my friends donate to Carney using my credit card will he be punted for funding irregularities?
Simply vote him out at the first chance!
The Liberals themselves are leaving like rats on a shipping sink.
Mark Carney is simply a nicely dressed millionnaire.
Carney is one of the hall monitors of Ottawa
He has not lived here for a while, actually was NOT a good stuart of the Bank of Canada, as interest rates were kept too low for all of his years. He proceeded to do the same easy money supply scheme in Britain.
Now, he is back in Canada with wealth that he never earned here.
He is not a future PM – he is just another global interloper (like the last one) who understands NOTHING about Canada, east of Montreal nor west of Toronto, Ont. I hope that he fades into the mist in a year, as did the other US Liberal leader guy, “what’s his name”? Oh i had to google hard: Michael Ignatieff.
SAYONARA!
Once PP exposes Carnage’s moving his company to the US in lieu of tariffs, I would think that even the most ignorant of Canuckistanians will have second thoughts about supporting Carnage’s hypocracy.
you give canadian liberals too much credit, they are thoroughly brainwashed
At the very least, if Carney becomes leader of LPC, he should renounce his citizenship from other countries. We demanded this of Stephan Dion. He has French citizenship. I think he agreed to give it up if he won the election. It was definitely seen as a conflict if interest. Conservatives should make a big stink about this – especially because the guy has been living abroad for many years.

Andrew Scheer, too.
I never actually understood what ‘renouncing’ citizenship actually does. Is it some legally binding thing, or just symbolic?
Depending on the country, you have to do it front of an official, that you intend to renounce all ties and benefits that said country gives you. Some countries that also means that you have to pay the exit taxes because the government in question “deems” that you have sold all your assets in the year in which you renounce.
One might want to ask Carney which country he is filing his income taxes in, and paying taxes, it probably isn’t Canada.
Michael Ignatieff. the Liberal leader for the 2011 election, spent most of his adult years abroad, and sometimes referred to himself as an American citizen. The CPC made considerable hay out of that. The Liberals were trounced.
