Congratulations to those American people who chose a leader vowing to “forge a society that is color-blind and merit-based.” While we may share a border, Canada is a million miles (or 1,609,344 km) away from the U.S.A. in terms of achieving this laudable goal. Consider this rejection letter sent to a highly qualified but too white Canadian man interested in working for the Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA) at the Gordie Howe International Bridge linking Windsor, Ontario to Detroit, Michigan scheduled to (finally) open this Fall:
This from the federal department that claims it is “promoting and safeguarding a merit-based, representative and non-partisan public service that serves all Canadians” (screenshot below 01-21-25). We’re being lied to (again). President Trump is correct: under his leadership, the “rest of the world will envy us.” I already do.
Canadian government sees the definition of merit differently. Discrimination against White men is also enshrined in the Constitution Act 1982. Becoming “post-national” has been in the works for a quite a while.
Section 15(2) explicitly approves of such racist and sexist programs.

That is the truth. I have been trying to get this point across to friends and family for years. Every White male coming of age during the 60s or after has been discriminated against “legally” by LBJ’s enshrined Affirmative Action Executive Order. Alan Bakke’s lawsuits in the 70s exposed this issue but White America lacked leadership to end this farce because virtue signaling was so politically rewarding. AA has adversely effected the post war White generation, their children and their grandchildren. AA was reinvented as DEI and it remains an utter and complete failure.
I get it. Part 2 of Section 15 of your Equality Rights Legislation essentially negates the actual “Equality Rights”. In other words, Part one pays lip service to all being equal (inclusive of white men), and then annihilates the purpose of the legislation by showing favoritism to “disadvantaged individuals or groups including those that are disadvantaged because of race, national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, sex, age or mental or physical disability.”
So get creative. Have a conservative rights group sue the government. For example, as shown on that screen grab, ‘women’ are part of this “disadvantaged” group. AND YET, women outnumber men in Canada, and are therefore the majority. Men, in a sense are truly the disadvantaged group in that respect. Make that argument and make the government prove their stance. Sitting back and exclaiming, “Well, that sucks” accomplishes nothing. Every time a debate takes place to prove a certain party is disadvantaged, they should be required to prove that fact. It isn’t as easy as it sounds.
And dictator McLachlan wrote in “sexual orientation”. She just needed to decree while Parliament cannot make any changes without a rigorous process.

I think it was in 2012 that then Prime Minister Stephen Harper announced that the new bridge would be named after Gordie Howe. It was an inspired choice given the Saskatchewan-born Howe played for years with the Detroit Red Wings – he was a figurative bridge between Canada and the U.S. The literal bridge isn’t completed yet, so there’s still time for some shameful renaming shenanigans. Will keep you posted.

What I find “amusing” is that somehow some people believe that governments simply can’t be “racist” or biased in any way when history has shown us that the very worst examples of those things is government itself.
