  1. I would like to see the reaction, if Trump just closed the border. He should say “until Canada makes it right with Tabitha Speer, border is closed”. I wonder what the reaction in Toronto would be?
At that point, Wall should apply for Saskatchewan to become a US state. Trudeau’s charter ended Canada. Only solution is to leave the corpse to rot.

  2. Seriously. Canada’s government took executive action to make this happen; seems entirely appropriate that the US government takes executive action in response. This entire country needs to be slapped, as hard as the biggest hand in the world can muster.
Perhaps Tabitha Speer can just go after the liberal party directly. They did this, let their donors cough up a 100 million personally.

  3. “(But after Kent’s newspaper critique, Trudeau aide Gerald Butts tweeted: “A long (Conservative Party of Canada) tradition of airing Canadian disputes in the Wall Street Journal…..”
If the Canadian media weren’t lost somewhere up the Spawn’s colon, one might be able to get coverage at home. Even this media got it backwards in referring to Butts as “Trudeau’s aide” when in reality Trudeau is Butts’ sock puppet. Besides, Americans need to know what kind of assholes run Canada just like when Obama was POTUS, Canadians only had the dying Sun News and a few US sources for anything but Obama Court Eunuch perspective.

  4. So help me understand … and please educate me … WHY is a close Trudeau aide apparently mocking the WSJ ? This is something I would expect to hear from Venezuela’s Bus driver, Maduro. You know … how all of Venezuela’s current economic woes Spring from the editorial pages of the Great (Capitalist) Satan’s WSJ ? WTF ? Is the Trudeau Admin. THAT openly anti-capitalist ? Mon-Ami … I weep for my Northern brothers (and sisters).

  5. Khadr should have been executed on the spot as an illegal combatant committing a murder.
An investigation by the US about why this did not happen would seem to be appropriate.

  6. If this garnered a direct response from Butts thats the tell that this did some serious damage to liberal support.

  7. It has taken a while for this story to penetrate in USA and I don’t believe it has reached the inner WH circles yet. I am unable to read the WSJ piece, but since it is written by A Canadian I could anticipate what he would write.
If this story ever becomes huge down there, Jr and Butts could be in for a lot of flack. Maybe that is the angle they want to play, standing up to US bullying. A total distortion of reality. but no worse than the entire Khadr saga since mid 1990s.

  8. The supporters of LPC won’t even cover the expenses racked up during the last federal election. What makes you think they’ll pay the widow of a murdered soldier?
That would require an understanding of right and wrong, something that Liberals seem to lack.

  9. [Trump] should say “until Canada makes it right with Tabitha Speer, border is closed”. I wonder what the reaction in Toronto would be?
Everybody knows how Toronto (and Ottawa) would react – they’d all turn to face each other and start screaming “TRUUUUUUUUUMP!!!!!!” – and that’s all they’d do.
And CBC wouldn’t even mention that…

  10. Michelle Rempell was on Tucker Carlson talking about Kahdr last night. She did really well! This is a beautiful scandal really because with US media on it we get free air time of it. So astonishing that the lugenpresse here are actually WORSE than the fake news in the US.

  11. Peter Kent: The Trudeau government paid a terrorist murderer $10-million.
    Gerald Butts: Squirrel.

  12. I like facts, so I checked on some things, such as the actual SCC decision regarding Khadr:
Did the SCC say Khadr was “tortured?”  No they didn’t.  Khadr and his lawyer allege that in their lawsuit.  Sleep deprivation and other aggressive interrogation techniques are not torture by the standards of international law.  IOW the matter is debatable.
The SCC referred to oppressive circumstances.  Fine.  Where does that allow for this government lay down?  Because for some reason they portray this kid as some kind of victimized hero.  He was and probably still is a “jihadist” warrior, waging a blasphemous personal struggle, craving violence, who joined the Taliban to fight against his country and humanity, against a UN sanctioned mission.
He wasn’t some child soldier lured from his village with food and money.
He placed himself outside the protection of the Charter of Rights by waging war in a foreign country, the circumstances of which he was keenly aware, and was later captured on the battlefield by another nation.  He was indeed mistreated by our sensibilities, in fact by the standards of the Canadian Forces if he was indeed water boarded, which, again, is alleged.
But Canadian officials were stuck in the gray zone, supposedly guided by the Geneva Convention, even though Khadr was not entitled to that protection, with the American view he was an illegal combatant, regardless of his citizenship.  He confessed to murder; his later recanting to be repatriated is self serving on its face and injurious to his credibility.  The SCC ruled Americans mistreated him and the Chretien government didn’t do enough, and once Canadian officials participated in interrogations (not torture), they wrapped Khadr in the Charter and its obligations.
Never a word though about Khadr’s obligations, being just a child.  But they never said pay him off, in fact the justices stated remedies were the purview of the government, not the Court in this case.  Their decision dealing with the pertinent remedy approved by the lower courts, Khadr’s repatriation, was in fact reversed.  How does that up to $10+million and an apology?
Why didn’t Khadr sue the American government and make them apologize?  Less anti-Americanism, I mean sympathy?  They’re the ones who “tortured” him.  Maybe the widow of the man he admitted to murdering might grab it eh, assuming he ever collected a dime?  This is not passing the smell test, that this case was a slam dunk because of the SCC decision.
They wanted to pay him off, plain an simple.  Most Canadians wanted them to take this on, unwilling to suspend their common sense; but they weren’t asked, it leaked after the fact with Parliament in recess and the PM out of the country, over the long weekend.
Some Canada 150 present.  Some will agree we needed to pay him off, many don’t.  Everybody has a right to their opinion – one person one vote.  Will it cost the Liberals in the next general election; maybe – 27 months is an eternity in politics.

  13. Right, Parliament has considerable scope to act in this matter as does Cabinet of course. They could have passed a resolution meeting all SCOC requirements, short of an apology and set reparations at $10 not $10 M. Such a bill would have garnered significant Parliamentary support and put an end to the sorry Khadr saga. Let his lawyers sue after such a bill was passed.
Jr is simply hiding behind the SC because he doesn’t want the details of Liberal handling of the family to surface.

  14. If I understand the facts of the Khadr lawsuit correctly, the gist of his lawsuit was against the actions of the Liberals during the 2003 era. I’ve read that the 10.5M payout was constructed by many of the same players that got us into this and nothing more than hush money IOT prevent facts coming to light during Discovery.

  15. The Americans should be concerned that Canada’s pro-Islamist hand puppet prime minister fled the country after cementing a deal to award (one who purports to be) a Canadian citizen for murdering an American armed service personnel.
If the solution to fixing this ends up being political, good. We can take it out on Butts or Justin or the Chinese or whoever the hell is running this country when the time comes.
This needs to be in the news everyday.

  16. see? I said this wasn’t going away.
Ive done my part, I carry a newspaper clipping with me and steer whatever conversation to this ‘lottery win’.

  17. You bet, it’s got them all shook up and just when they’re busy trying to make it all go away! It’s not going to just go away no matter how they try to white wash it.
There’s just no where written in the Trudeau Charter that says we have to pay millions in compensation and the lower Court ruling on the whole affair did not even suggest it.

  18. Bravo Shamrock. Well written.
Consider sending something sending like that to some USA newspapers letters to the editor.

  19. I’ve seen very little coverage in the US MSM, other than that WSJ op-ed (behind a subscription wall) and extensive coverage on Fox last night during prime time.
Only time will tell if the MSM picks up on it. It doesn’t really fit the narrative, any more than does the Somali-American cop’s killing of a white woman in South Minneapolis. Besides, cohorts of victims such as these seldom riot or loot in response.

  20. The Liberals would never use the US media for anything….Vogue, Kelly Ripa to name a couple dont count I guess.

  21. Butts is just playing to an old Canadian political tradition of anti-American sentiment, the same kind the Conservatives used against the LPC when their candidate for PM was Michael Ignatieff who thought he would drop back into Canada (after a thirty year absence) from Harvard to lead the nation.

  22. I believe that the payment was given so that Chretien/Martin did not have to testify. Chretien may have faced some awkward questions regarding his rescue of the Senior Khadar. The other possible issue is that the Khadar family may have something on the Liberals that they need to hide. Either way, this does not look good on them and for sure Conservatives should keep this issue brewing.

  23. I just heard that Trudeau just gave hillary 20 million for some transgender studies. That’s 20 million of our money not his. What gets me, is where I work, they are so leftist, I have to keep my mouth shut. The vile hatred of trump and mainstream news is god. I had to speak out when Khadr got to money and they were watching it on TV. No clue whats going on, and when I explained it to them. They said there has to be more to it, like he was innocent we just don’t know. I should of known better why try.

  24. ““A long (Conservative Party of Canada) tradition of airing Canadian disputes in the Wall Street Journal…..”
I was not aware that this was a Conservative tradition, but if so, it is a fine tradition and an excellent counter to the Liberal-friendly Canadian media.
My own view is that Butts is not really running things, but he is the PMO manager and serves as a go-between between the Trudeau Libs and whoever is running things. My guess is that someone or a group at the UN is calling the shots. Much of the Liberal “brand” is built around the UN Sustainable Development goals, and that is where money is going also, such as that big chunk of change recently given to the Clinton Health Initiative. Albertans might be interested to note how much Notley is also following the Sustainable Development script. Trudeau was not kidding when he said we are the first post-national state.

  26. Hopefully, it will come to pass that more Canadians are finally stunned into realizing Prime Minstrel TruD’oh has actually put a greater value on a pair of ‘shiny pony’ Ramadan socks and a $10.5 million jizya payment to a cold-blooded Islamic hand grenade killer, than on his obvious afterthought of a country; by the humiliating Liberals’ results of the next federal election. How will his toady Liberal wranglers keep him away from the sharper by light years more qualitative Conservative leader Andrew Scheer? “Sunny Ways” will have to put down the plush unicorn ‘safety net’ sooner or later and say something without thoroughly embarrassing himself and his silly government. The little leader from Papineau hopscotched from Kelly Ripa’s ABC piece of morning fluff where he got a steady diet of his usual weightless softball tosses – like watching any sycophantic Canadian interview at all – to the bright lights of FOX News’ Tucker Carlson last night, where he was roundly mocked and roasted with a particularly scathing, mind you, well-deserved zinger.
A 70 year old war vet working at a Home Depot in Texas let his wartime intrepidness get the best of him, as he went in pursuit of some fleeing tool thieves, throwing a brush at them without any luck. He was fired for doing so, as is apparently company policy. Now the man has no visible means of support for being an allegiant company man. Carlson said “If he had killed a soldier maybe he’d be getting rich from Canada.” .

  27. Btw Michelle Rempel was on tucker Carlson last night talking about khadr so that may have driven traffic as much or more than Kent.

  28. I’m surprised that this payout hasn’t been called out for what it really is: yet another sneaky, cynical misuse of taxpayer dollars by turdo la doo and the Liberals to curry favour/lock down votes in the Muslim population.

  29. You missed that his agreement prevents him from suing the US government, as well as prevents him from entering the US ever.
He claimed that he was tortured, and was given the opportunity to testify to that fact in front of a judge, but declined to do so. Additionally, given that he claims that he lied, under oath, in his agreement, you can likely make a case to add perjury to the list of crimes that he has committed.

  30. Under S. 46 of the Criminal Code Kadr should have been tried for treason. He fought against our allies and he conspired (bomb making is one good example that it has been reported is on video) with forces fighting Canadian troop and our allies.

  31. Treason isn’t considered at all in this Khadr affair, not even sure it’s much thought about any more. If it were the Khadr family would have long ago been charged. The father was flying back and forth to the ME and taking his sons to train with Bin Laden’s terrorist thugs and they lived in his compound. The mother and daughter were on TV in Canada saying they would be proud to have the sons martyred for the cause. Those are grounds for treason yet they were all ignored and all remain in Canada, probably living at our expense, except for the sire of the ill begotten lot who was killed fighting for the enemy. This is one mess, not a proud moment in Canada’s history.

  32. When parliament reconvenes, Scheer and the Conservatives should invite Tabitha Speer to attend QP in the visitors gallery, as a guest of the Conservatives. Then Trudeau can apologize directly to her….or not. If he flees like a scalded rabbit, that’ll be just as telling.
    Don’t letup
    Don’t ever let up.
    Let the Liberals unspool.

    Don’t letup
    Don’t ever let up.
    Let the Liberals unspool.

  34. Jaedo, I wasn’t aware that was part of his plea bargain.
The salient point for me is he confessed to his crimes, and his subsequent recantation to gain a benefit is irrelevant.
Clearly the Canadian public and their media have not now or ever read from the same song book on Khadr and the war on Islamist terror:
“What pro-Khadr voices do get right, however, is that much of the debate around Khadr has little to do with the man himself. If we’re being honest, few of us really have clear thoughts on what is or isn’t an infringement on the constitutional rights of a teenage Canadian captured by allied forces in a third country while engaged in treasonous warfare as adjudicated by a military tribunal. Confronted with complex cases like this, most of us simply retreat to our reflective instincts of right and wrong, and the instinct of many centre-left journalists to sympathize with Khadr often appeared an outgrowth of their broader inclination to view the Western world’s entire war on radical Islamic terrorism as something pointless, offensive, and cruel.”
Despite its ubiquitousness in the press, this flavour of analysis has never come close to resembling mainstream Canadian opinion, which polls indicate remains stubbornly inclined to view radical Islam as a legitimate threat against which strong counter-measures are entirely justified. Yet it is against the contrary backdrop of endless self-flagellation by their betters that Canadians are now being asked to swallow the notion that Omar Khadr, a former al-Qaeda operative, is such an unambiguous, uncomplicated victim of our monstrous war that anyone who finds fault with giving him $10.5 million of taxpayer cash must surely be deeply morally dishonest and deficient.”
Persuasion is a skill that’s earned. Those who make their livings telling Canadians what to think about the war on terror must now grapple with just how utterly unconvincing they’ve been.”
Yes, and in doing so, our international reputation, the real one, not the watermelon version has been sullied, as we are seen as naïve dreamers getting the solution to the problem precisely wrong. This is in addition to Trudeau insulting and embarrassing Canadians with his Daddy’s “just society” nonsense.
IOW the Khadr person and issue of his crimes is not important to our mediocracy, stuck in the Liberal world view (which the Khadr family are intimately connected by thought and deed), and knee jerk anti-Americanism, along with ignorant views of jurisprudence and social justice. It’s much easier to be salve one’s self loathing when spending others’ money for perceived injustices.

  35. “Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said John Ridsdel of Calgary, Alberta, was killed in a “coldblooded murder” by the militants. Trudeau said Canada would work with the Philippine government and international partners to bring those responsible to justice.” WAPO April 2016.
“Trudeau declined to respond when asked whether the Canadian government had tried to negotiate with the captors or pay a ransom, or whether it was trying to secure the release of the other Canadian being held, Robert Hall. ” WAPO April 2016
“A Philippine army spokesman said al Qaeda-linked Abu Sayyaf militants had threatened to behead one of four captives on Monday if the 300 million pesos ($6.4 million) ransom for each of them was not paid by 3 p.m. local time.” WAPO April 2017
After the jizya pmt of $10.5M to Khadr, it would have only cost $12.8M for two (2) CANADIANS held for ransom by AbuSayyaf. Instead, they were beheaded.
The Khadr clan must have some very interesting dirt on the LPOC, to effect this kind of “influence” on this “government”. RIP; Robert Hall & John Ridsdel. They weren’t worth anything to the LPOC.

  36. Tonight Tucker Carlson just interviewed U.S. Special Forces Sgt. Layne Morris, who was blinded by Khadr, or rather by the grenade that just happened to be in his hand before it left his hand. /s
The sergeant knows Canadians are opposed, and appreciated the phone call from Harper. He also said he feels sorry for how his comrades in the Canadian forces must feel.
It will no doubt be available online before long.

  37. Well said.
LindL, “… Butts is not really running things, but he is the PMO manager and serves as a go-between between the Trudeau Libs and whoever is running things.” That would be George Soros.
Peter, “What gets me, is where I work, they are so leftist, I have to keep my mouth shut. The vile hatred of trump and mainstream news is god.” That comes from decades of brainwashing by the Liberal media in Canada.
Shamrock, thanks for the clear sighted analysis.

  38. Further to Tucker Carlson’s interview with Sgt Layne Morris, who describes the actual events of the day, which clearly establishes Khadr was a murderer who executed translators sent to negotiate with him and his scumbag fellow terrorists.
Father Khadr, the financer of AQ, was the intended target, but had departed, leaving his son as a human shield. IOW, scum – like father like son.
Here is the full interview with Sgt Layne. I’m glad many Americans are aware the Canadian people do not support this self-serving “settlement.”

  39. As much as Canadians are sickened with this government, if all we do is b*tch and grouse on the internet then nothing will be accomplished. With no recall and a resignation that we’ll get him in 2019 we are allowing two more years of a government that should never have been elected in the first place. Two years of governing that cost us all dearly, financially and morally. If we do not take this hot iron of the Khadr case and drive it through the heart of the Liberal party this Fall then we are destined to see more or worse in the next two years. We have approximately eight weeks to tell all rookie Liberals in the House for the first time that unless they cross the floor and help defeat this corrupt government then they will never serve in another sitting of the House and will never collect the gold-plated pensions that they are all so desirous of. We have to get to the Liberals where it hurts them the most and that is in the wallet. B*tch and grouse all you want but if you want to get Trudeau out of office before he totally destroys Canada and our international reputation then get organized and contact the CPC party in your riding and volunteer to contact all rookie Liberals and tell them what is in store for them this fall if they do not cross the floor.

  40. parliament has the right and the ability to tell the supreme court to piss off.

  41. Need some help.
I’ve looked and looked at the “charter” and keep missing the section that obligates the government to insulate anyone from a civil lawsuit.
It must be in there somewhere, cause juthtin wouldn’t just lie…would he?
