Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

No one in authority will answer or do anything about Islam. Mark should know that. It would be raciss. A societal breakdown precipitated by ardent muslims will be the only cure and a bloody cure it will be.
Mark Steyn nails it again as he so often does. Meanwhile Turdeau increases the influx of the threat into this country at an alarming state. Borders … what borders? Security screenings and mandatory assimilation protocols are non existent.
Mark reminds me of what happens when any smoker dies of lung cancer. The entire State and every government agency mobilize to prepare public service notices about the DANGERS of smoking. All in an effort to ensure that not another single life is cut down by the horrors of smoking. Government immediately imposes massive taxes and restrictions on cigarettes. Tobacco corporations are vilified. Government pension funds divest themselves of all Phillip Morris stock. Countless television advertisements showing, graphically, the ravages of smoking … old women speaking through tubes in their throats. Wrinkled faces of young women, prematurely aged by smoking. The horrors … the horrors … of smoking are all put on graphic display. And we are reminded there is NO “safe levels” of smoking and no “safe form” of smoking. Cigarettes are bad, cigars are bad, chewing tobacco is bad … even e-cigarettes are baaaad mmmmkay ? The government spends literally $ Billions in public service announcements with the goal of preventing another single death from smoking.
Contrast that with the government response after a Muslim terrorist attack and mass murder. The government suddenly defends the CAUSE of death. Defends Muslim Terrorism. Defends the cigarette. Defends tobacco. Our government suddenly BLAMES the VICTIM. Blames the country for not making 3rd world Muslim immigrants f-e-e-l welcomed. Blames the victims of xenophobia, Islamophobia. Imagine if the government took this same approach with tobacco … and actually lectured the public about the benefits of smoking … hey! smoking helps with weight loss ! It’s really good for you. Hey! Muslims are good for you … you may have dozens of Muslims in your neighborhood and never DIE. Hey! You may smoke your whole life, and never DIE !
Our governments are NOT our friend. We have been SOLD OUT, by the globalist, no-borders-no-sovereign nation one-worlders.
The only difference is that smoking doesn’t threaten to kill you if you don’t smoke, denounce it as hurtful, or fight back against it.
The first mistake is to believe the various governments actually give a tinkers damn. Shut up, pay your taxes and DIE! (in that order)
Contrary to popular thought, governments are not there to serve YOU, they serve THEMSELVES first and foremost…
The Emperor has no clothes…shocking!
During the Blitz, were the authorities busy running round telling the folks this is only a National Socialist extremist minority and enjoy the multiculturalism?

Mark Steyn, if no one did anything about the 1.5 million Christian Armenians who were slaughtered by Muslim Turks – women, children, babies, and the elderly were forced-marched in to the deserts of northern Syria – why would anyone in authority do anything about deaths at the hands of Muslims today?
Steyn goes over ground here he has ploughed many times, but it seems not to bear any fruit. I think at this point he is disappointed in the public he has been warning for years about the deranged explosives-wired suicide elephant in the living room.
In this installment of after shock commentary he seems to be gravitating from his usual shaming of spineless PC and sharia compliant politicians to the “malevolence” of a wide and programmed public apathy & moral lethargy which believes in denial rituals – that engaging in Druidic sympathetic magic ceremonies, and lighting candles and buying pencils and teddy bears is a proper epitaph/legacy/reaction to and endless string of slain innocents –
These denial rituals allow those under attack to avoid the harsh realization of this on-going program of government sanctioned mass murder by a seathing hate filled death cult imported into our midst by venal and truly evil “social planners” who want to change our culture because they have a fundamental loathing of the things that give strength and purpose to our lives – national identity, common cultural heritage, and pride in both.
“Post Nationalist” globalists want this – they view it as a necessary subjugating and homogenization process of endemic populations they are attempting to subjugate to a Plutocratic monopolist global governing system.
This is why if you still love your country its sovereign right and popular democratic will, you will shun any politician who accommodates a rationalization for radicalism – be it leftist or Islamic – these people are the enemy, and those who believe these narratives are not to be trusted.
Contrary to popular thought, governments are not there to serve YOU, they serve THEMSELVES first and foremost…
I’m experiencing that right now. My father died a few month ago and I’m in the process of settling his estate.
The first thing the provincial government was concerned about was the probate fee. Just to verify that his will was valid, I had to pay a large sum of money based on the estimated worth of the estate.
Paying that fee is essential. Without that fee, probate wouldn’t have been granted. Without that document, I couldn’t do anything with my father’s capital assets as banks and brokerages wanted to see it.
Guess who’s in hock over his ears now?
Then the federal government wants to skim off its share in the form of the capital gains on my father’s assets. The same provincial government gets a nice share of that as that income tax return has to be filed there.
Oh, and in order to pay that tax, I’ll have to sell some of my father’s assets and there are even more capital gains to be taxed.
It’s a nice system we have in this country, isn’t it?
Some great comments already. Great analogy, Kenji. Way to ice his cake, Gary D.
Leftards are sooo dedicated to hating the right that they seemingly will not hesitate to protect any group that conservatives themselves publicly deem an enemy, ISIS included. The ONLY thing I see changing this status quo is more Islamic attacks that cause painful loss for the political left itself. They have already clearly demonstrated that they won’t stand up against radical Islam for anything less.
It is absolutely disheartening that ISIS’s strategies seem years ahead of anything western officials will address. As Mark states, security zones are now as much a problem as a solution. Also, quite stunning to witness a dynasty like the UK, with centuries of experience in dealing with conquerors, invaders and pillagers being willfully blind to yet another wave of Muslims vying for their land.
Just watch now as Islam slowly appropriates these very same enabling leftist political parties of the west. They have a solid foothold, already.
I agree. But I’m not sure tobacco is a good example as it has been taxed by states already for a thousand years. Modern day’s health concerns are just the scape goat argument for ever heftier taxes. And it’s possible because nicotine is addictive.
Since m7slims are not adictive at all and we are already paying taxes -and they still want more- they have to bribe (read: threaten punishment) us to accept muslims.
BA, been there done that. It’s shameful, painful and despicable. Sorry for your loss.Ter
Sorry for your loss.
Thank you.
All analogies have their limitations … however the complete and total vilification of Big Tobacco is a convenient hyper-contrast to the governmental apologetics for radical Islam. Even to the point where a previous US President (and the entire Federal Govt.) refused to associate Islam with Islamic Terrorism. Total and complete denial of the TRUTH.
In the interest of transparency, I am not now, nor have I ever been a smoker. I have no axe to grind in defending tobacco use … except … the shocking disproportionate vilification of its use. The uttter overkill (an apt pun) of tobacco taxation.

Name ONE other Tax that has been $$$TRIPLED$$$ by a single vote of a leftist State (like CA). Sure, I don’t smoke … and I believe smoking is fairly horrible … but if the leftist State can economically CRUSH one out-of-favor behavior … just imagine the Co2 taxes that are yet to be levied. So I was just choosing an EXTREME example of government’s “protection” of citizens contrasted against governmental “excuses” made for Islam. Our societies are eroding around us … and the left won’t be happy until they’ve … “torn it alllll dowwwwn maaaannnn”.
Oh … and BA … please accept my belated condolences for having not said so days ago, when you revealed your sidewalk de-icing at your deceased dads home. Please accept my condolences on this US Fathers Day celebration … somehow even more appropo.
And not to make it all about me … but I lost my own father some years ago now. He had “successful” open heart surgery performed at the San Francisco VA … only to die weeks later from a massive out of control sepsis infection that literally consumed half his sternum. This was Obama’s VA … where I am certain the VA janitorial staff all received job performance bonuses in the year of my fathers death. My father only passed his debts onto me … so I had no sidewalks to maintain after his death … just creditors to satisfy. No taxman to satisfy.
“If you raise people to be ashamed of their civilizational inheritance, some will seek new beliefs like climate change, but others will seek what these lunatics (Islamic jihad, Sharia)… to fulfill that sense of purpose.

Thank you.
I inherited not only his assets but the associated expenses as well. People, including the government, want to be paid for their services so I have to keep tabs on the various accounts.
My father was in poor health during his final years. The cumulative effects of being a long-time smoker (though he finally quit for good well before he died) as well as being a diabetic for over 50 years took their toll, though, as it turned out, he was in worse shape than he let on to me. That eventually brought about his demise.
After my mother died, I began preparing for the time that my father would no longer be around. Going through the probate and speaking to the tax department was, therefore, a lot easier than it might have been otherwise.
Unfortunately, there were those who were bureaucratically obtuse, more concerned about following the rules and satisfying the government’s demands than in assisting me in fulfilling my duties as the executor of my father’s will.
Sadly, a similar mentality likely extends to matters of national urgency, such as outlined in the video.
That’s what insurance policies are for. To pay the burial fees, bureaucratic fees & taxes, without engaging The Estate, first.
Make sure you get some before you die & enough of it, especially when you are healthy, not later.
Just for instance: when you die, your survivors discover how much you qualify as “property of the federal government”. You are now learning that.
Condolences on your father, which as Kenji noted, makes for Father’s Day irony in Canuckistan as well.
As a financial planner, on my better days, I get to deal with the vicissitudes of state-dumb on a daily basis…so your experience does not surprise me. As PO’ed in Alta noted one can ameliorate the effects of ‘state-dumb’ but you cannot make it go away.
Political ‘Bomblasts’ aside, try to enjoy Father’s Day or at least the good memories.

The only death benefit that I received was the one from the federal government when my father’s OAS and CPP were cut off. And guess what? That death benefit is–wait for it–subject to tax.
As it turned out, the funerary expenses were nearly double that and I had to wait several weeks for the government cheque. I paid for it out of some money my father gave me after my mother died.
After all, why should I profit from a death in the family, eh?
Thanks.
I was prepared for the event, starting after my mother died several years ago. One of the first people I contacted after that happened was my stockbroker and I got his advice on what to do next. Like you, he had to deal with all sorts of similar situations and he had a few stories to tell about that, including some of his own.
It would have been nice if the government had given me a bit of time to sort things out and actually assess the situation. However, like I mentioned earlier, it was only concern was the preservation of its interests.
It’s like the subject of the video. When a major incident takes place, the government downplays, if not denies, the likely motive. One reason, and there is some merit to this, is the fear of vigilante justice. History is filled with situations where something happens and, often, the wrong people pay quite quickly for it.
However, that same government doesn’t want its policies to be seen as defective, if not fraudulent. By making the motive quietly disappear from the subsequent discussion and analysis, the government’s image is, thereby, maintained.
I discovered all the above (belatedly in some instances) when administering my dear mother’s estate, upon her sudden demise. One notable piece of advice for those in similar positions as Executor & aging parents….become “joint” account holders of all bank accounts. I did it only to monitor my mother’s accounts online, so that bills were paid & no strange financial transactions erupted by predators & little old ladies.
Each bank asked me if I had planned to become joint when notified of her passing. At the time that I did all this (years before her death), I wasn’t aware of what happens when joint account owners died. Joint bank accounts become yours on the death of the joint owner & are not subject to probate fees, or considered part of the Estate. Keep that in mind when organizing your parent’s affairs later in life.
As for that “death benefit” from CPP. If you don’t need it, don’t apply. It’s just another bunch of tax filing you have to do after filing the Final Return. Net to the Estate was just a few hundred dollars from the initial $2500. Taxes take care of most of it, just like monthly payroll. Might pay for the bouquet!
Joint bank accounts become yours on the death of the joint owner & are not subject to probate fees, or considered part of the Estate.
I hinted to my father that we should do that but he wouldn’t hear of it. And, yes, there was so much song and dance to go through just to get that account that it would have made Busby Berkley envious.
The only things I still have left to have signed over are a block of shares and the house and yard.
A year from now, most of the expenses and taxes will have been taken care of.
