The U.S. Department of Labor announced it would suspend Microsoft and Adobe from its Permanent Labor Certification program on Thursday, Labor Secretary Keith Sonderling said, as the Trump administration continues to take aim at immigration and foreign hiring programs ahead of November’s midterm elections.
Sonderling said the Labor Department won’t accept or process any new applications under the program for a host of companies, including Cognizant, Infosys, Capgemini, Tata, Wipro and HCL.
The secretary said Adobe and Microsoft were also suspended “due to multiple active federal investigations.”
“Since 2009, just these companies alone have requested almost 3 million foreign workers. They’ve received over 230,000 H-1B visas approvals and over 100,000 permanent labor certifications. That’s hundreds of thousands of jobs that were taken from American workers,” Sonderling said.
If only Canadian Conservatives possessed this level of clarity: “You cannot lay off American workers and then replace them with foreign indentured servants.”

The H-1B visa program should either be greatly overhauled to fix it, or just cancelled entirely. The H-1B visa program is the high tech equivalent of replacing competent semi-truck drivers with illiterate, idiot immigrants who can’t even read road signs to drive dangerous big rig trucks on our highways. These kinds of immigrant programs aren’t just taking high tech jobs, they’re taking the few remaining decent paying blue collar jobs.
Call me racist, call me anti-immigrant, (which I’m neither), and label me with whatever hateful moniker you want, I don’t care. I truly hope there’s a special place in hell for the both the people who implemented these programs and the people who use them. And PLEASE boycott Disney until they go bankrupt, because they F’ing deserve it!

And as far as India is concerned (which is a large source of H1-B1 applicants), you can’t fluff up fake credentials to qualify for this type VISA.

I used to get the new hire notices for a large corporate HQ I consulted for. The amount of subcontinental contractors hired by their IT department used to infuriate me, knowing that these are jobs Americans should at least be considered for. At one point a manager got canned because he was somehow personally profiting off of the arrangement with one sub, where a bunch of the SC’s apparently all living under one roof. Can you imagine the stench!
