Photoblogging

I captured these this afternoon in the ritzy Georgetown neighbourhood of Washington, DC. Brings a whole new meaning to the term “cat lady”. I think there’s a better caption for these photos, but am drawing a blank. If you can think of one, do share!

  1. It’s a cat cafe. There’s one in Stratford, ON. You pay a small fee to go inside, get coffee and interact with a bunch of cats, most of which are available for adoption. They’re generally affiliated with local animal shelters and they’re great for increasing adoption rates. For people who can’t have pets in their home it’s a great way to get some stress relief.

  2. That’s actually pretty cool. Also, tempting…..

“Give me a free coffee, or I release the catnip.”

Were I to name the place, I think I’d go with “Take Paws”

  3. Just had a possibly stray (no collar) black and white cat walk up on my porch a few minutes ago. I said hello but it scampered away. Never used to be a fan, but lately I’ve been thinking of getting a cat. Was this a sign?

  4. I imagine mostly women (and the odd poofy garcons) sitting and drinking tea while grooming cats and relaxing. The name “Meow Maison” is top dog IMO. Can’t beat it.

But why not do the same thing for man’s best friend? Chateau des Chiens, where adoptable dogs can roam around and be petted by mostly men drinking coffee? The fetch games would get out of hand but it’s the most fun you can have outside a dog park.

    1. On reflection, I have have been to cafes in eastern Manitoba where they have wood ticks wandering around that God knows you can pet, especially this time of year. But they don’t seem to want to advertise it.
