Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

The Fraser River looks lovely this time of year.
Same deal in China. Same deal in Iran. Appropriations are made and distributed. Local leaders scim by cutting corners on design and materials. The next thing you know, you have a half-assed project, some wealthy well placed parties, and the resulting “Tofu Towers”.
China, especially, even exports their incompetence. Thailand State Office Building (built by China….collapsed), Novi Sad Railway Station (built by China….collapsed), Sigiri Bridge in Kenya (built by China….collapsed). The list is long.
Keep watching. China is very proud of their latest highest suspension bridge in the world. Which they built in a province prone to earthquakes.
It’s a good thing they just own 7-11s, not build them.
But they export great truck drivers.
ps. How’s the Chinese bridge in San Franciso holding up?
It’s holding up fine for the ATV takeover …

I know some people like trucks here. This is going to hurt. I see there are six parts to this, this is part 1. SOme Canadian truckers made the video.

Mississauga likes to use an Indo-Canadian contractor.
Last summer they redid some roads and sidewalks in the Dixie and Eglinton area.
The sidewalks are already spalling with the surfaces rough from the aggregate sticking up and the roadways are cracking, not even a year later.
As long as the bridge is the only way to get to the airport, I’m good with it.
😉
Looks like a couple of the post-tension cables are still intact. Jussssssst a little stretched out … but I’m sure they could be tightened right on up.
The simple solution to the bridge is to add a ramp and raise the speed limit.
This is only my personal observations as a retired commercial interior designer, but many Chinese contractors have problems with spatial recognition today. In the distant past, they were known for an advanced civilization, but I think the last 250-300 years have not been kind to them in terms of building anything.
Problems with spatial recognition is also why there are very few, if any Chinese racing car drivers.
Coming to Canada. Well at least we have a space port. And that high speed train is coming along any time soon. With pipelines.
This is that ‘special group is needed to develop and maintain sophisticated infrastructure’ meme, ain’t it?
Thing is, only the ‘special group’ much cares about having ‘sophisticated infrastructure’, and has developed a ‘culture’ around the standards needed to ‘develop and maintain’ such things.
I guess members of the ‘special group’ are hanging out here getting their rage stimulated at the erosion of the ‘culture’ needed to ‘develop and maintain’. Fact is, yes, the ‘culture’ has been eroded, and the logical result is the process of ‘bridge go boom’ which is on display here.
I think the lesson here is ‘do not destroy the culture that protects you’ because, obviously, you do not want to get squished in a collapsing bridge, building, or, brewery. Less obvious is what evolves out of the replaced, displaced, oppressed ‘special people’. Yellow turban rebellion maybe? Anyway, who cares what I think.
Satan cares what you think, Fenris. He follows you closely. At a safe distance, obviously, he’s no fool.
