“It was an awesome meeting,” Pete Hoekstra, U.S. ambassador to Canada, recently told POLITICO.
It went so well that President Donald Trump invited Carney and his delegation back into the Oval Office to show off his White House ballroom plans, even asking the prime minister for advice on the design. The Canadians were then ushered into a nearby office and offered Trump-branded memorabilia.
Sixteen days later, the talks collapsed.
Carney doesn’t want a deal.
He wants Trump to be the Boogeyman.

I have trouble taking anything Politico says seriously. And, judging by the journalist’s history when reporting in Canada, she is suspect as well. She was the one that accused one of your Conservatives up there of calling another politician a “whore.” But, what he said was “horde”, as in “NDP horde.” She got canned. Politico made her their Canadian arm.
Also, it’s interesting when the article doesn’t even comment on Carney allowing China to get its nose under the tent on EV vehicles in Canada when the discussion is Detroit and vehicle tariffs.
If the article it would just confirm my thoughts – that both Carney and Ford are far more interested in the political benefit of ginning up Trump hate than the financial benefit to all of us of getting a trade deal.
Canada is fake and gay and everyone in the US knows it now. I can’t wait for this failed social experiment to formally end and the USA to annex us
I believe annexation by the US is clearly not an ideal move but I can’t help but think it would be a far sight better than the continued decline under liberal rule and stupidity.
That said, I believe Alberta would be so much better off as an independent entity. Becoming a US state would again be a close second to get rid of the liberal shitpumps.
