Circling The Drain

Cushion the blow? That sounds like the Feds will hand out free Squishmallows at the gas pumps. Could’ve had some pipelines, but it’s getting a bit late even for that. An end to the industrial carbon tax would help, but I’m not holding my breath.

Oil prices have surged since the U.S. and Israel attacked Iran on Feb. 28, averaging more than $1.80 per litre across Canada today, compared with about $1.32 a year ago.

Carney says his government wants to help “cushion the blow” for Canadians.

  1. Carney has been campaigning for years to hike gas prices up to the point where consumers would opt out of ICE vehicles. Even if he actually feels sympathy for us peons, even if the does want to “cushion the blow”, methinks he is cheering on the increase in price.

    1. Exactly! He’ll cushion the blow by RAISING carbon taxes. Because that will …
get you out of your car ™️ and
end your addiction to fossil fuels™️
Then you can sit in your 15min. prison cubicle … on a bed of cushions. Waiting for a Punjabi DoorDash driver to deliver your government cheese.

  2. Making the claim of “cushioning the blow” means they expect the consumer to be sand bagged.
Doing something like reducing or eliminating a tax means the government gives up something so that isn’t on the agenda.
Carney is still waiting for the democrats to retake control of Congress and the Senate so he can claim he’s taken Trump to heel.

  3. He’ll announce a policy that is expensive and complicated, like his bonus gst cheques, that won’t offset the increased costs caused by his other policies.

  4. The high fuel prices are just the result of the Lieberal’s war on oil and gas. If we had the pipelines and refineries that we really needed the cost would be much lower.

  5. The US national average unleaded price is $4.14/gal.
The CA average price in my local suburb is $5.65/gal.

Why do I still live in this State? ohhhh yeah … the Fed chair is determined to keep interest rates high to punish Trump.

  6. “Carney says his government wants to [figure out how to look like it wants to] help “cushion the blow” for Canadians.”

  7. If he wants to cushion the blow he would mandate energy East with legislation backed up by the notwithstanding clause.

  8. When Clinton gave Monica Lewinsky kneepads, he meant to soften the blow. And my new drag queen name is now “Monica Le Winksy”.
