1. Barely anyone watches CBC? No kidding. I don’t even watch clips from CBC if I can avoid it.

   Like Pravda, but dumber.

2. The CBC is a form of election fraud as they are existentially motivated to ensure the LPC/CCP remain in power and as a result they are partisan activists masquerading as a news service.

3. Thing is, while nobody watches them on TV anymore, they’re often the first articles and clips passed around online, sort of the default Canadian trusted source. They’re often cited by other online news outlets.

   1. Absolutely, Wonko. Their influence goes beyond their viewership.
      The way they are defended by various gov’t ministers as somehow the keepers of Canadian perspectives (despite their dismal numbers – I have heard from one journalist that CBC is dead last in all major markets in Canada) reveals a sad narrative that needs to be addressed.
      So….what is Canadian culture? What is a Canadian perspective or a Canadian identity?
      In terms of media and entertainment consumptions (music, TV, news, online, movies) I would argue that it is what Real Canadians voluntarily spend their own $$ and their own time consuming. Not what some Laurentian elites decide is good for the rest of us.
      By that benchmark, much of Canadian culture is very similar American culture. More Canadians watch Landman than the latest CBC offering. More Canadians voluntarily watch podcasts (some American, some British, many Canadian) than watch CBC. I once was part of a group that received a Canada Council grant. Reading between the lines, the basic criteria was “If you are doing something that nobody is likely to listen to, we will fund you.”
      Now…..some gov’t support of the arts is a part the long history of the roots of our culture. Mozart, Tchaikovsky, and others had benefactors who supported them. I agree with the funding for symphonies, jazz festivals, and other arts events that on their own could not make the bottom line. But the point is – even though they don’t make enough to pay all the bills, they are filling concert halls. Canadians are participating, listening, and giving their own money voluntarily.
      So some gov’t support of Canadian Culture can be appropriate.
      But to pretend that a product that Canadians are not interested in is somehow more “Canadian” than a product that Real Canadians are actually consuming is hubris of the highest degree. And evidence of a mindset that says, “We know better than you what is good for you.”
      Which pretty much defines this Liberal government.

   Every penny gifted to Government Funded media is an election expense,incurred by the sitting government.
   Elections Canada did go after Ezra for releasing his book Liberano’s “during an election”..
   A stunningly petty persecution..
   But billions in tax payer dollars to have bankrupt media repeat the state propaganda,is not unethical election expenditure by government..Just ask Elections Canada.
   Every thing government touches turns to shit.
   Western Independence is the least bloody path out of this kleptocracy.
