There is a camp out there , Joe Lang among them, that believe part of Trumps strategy is to help make countries like Canada into stronger sovereign nations. Canada has not been a partner in this ,nor does there appear to be any political will to do so. And while there is nothing wrong with expanding our trade options ,it is rather stupid to be out looking for a better motel room while your house is on fire. As to our trade successes, how many batteries will we be shipping to China after investing 50 billion in plants? How many Canadian made vehicles? So we get temporary tariff relief from the 100% levy and buy a bunch more (50,000 vehicles) from them. Genius ,pure genius ! Carny was definitely supportive if not involved in in the snubbing of allies requests to purchase our oil and gas. He continues the Trudeau policy of contrition while facing Trump followed by immediately backstabbing. But remember , this genius thought it was a wonderful policy to hold no gold while Governor of the bank of Canada.
