One of the funded services was kits to help people insert hard drugs through their rear end.
Article also showed Canada to be in the middle for costs per person, so makes the claim that the operating costs for healthcare, salaries and excessive administration, are to blame for lack of services despite higher spending.
Comments were pretty well lined up on picking on operational costs.
The role of government is to tax YOU and spend more of it.

Like you I went over to Gatineau for a scan faster than Ontario would even admit they had a request for an MRI. Ottawa’s system is the request goes to a central dispatch to be sent out to one of the hospitals for an appointment. After 6 weeks of waiting I tried to find out where it was sent, they would even tell me and said to wait for a call.
While the faster (C$825) scan was useful and decent detail in description that helped with rehab, a recent second report shows that a replacement is highly recommended. 6 weeks and still waiting for a call from the joint replacement unit.
Guess I’ll be using a golf cart this year.

My brother was in the military (joined into the RCAF) and worked his way up from swamp food to Major. Was stationed in many spots including Germany during the Cold War and DND HQ in Ottawa. I asked him once what Majors do in Ottawa. He said they make coffee and walk around briskly with their “look busy kits”. He then became the CO in one of the recruiting centers and all of them were summoned to a meeting in Ottawa. In the meeting they were told that the trade qualifying tests were the same for anglophones and francophones, but the pass mark for the francophones was considerably lower than those for anglophones. When asked why that was, the answer was simply “cultural differences….that’s all you need to know”. He left the military shortly after.
There’s an attitude problem.
It seems that shitty service is simply accepted as normal.

Our “healthcare system” was fundamentally flawed from its very conception by the silver tongued, fascist homophobe eugenist and is rapidly reaching its logical and inevitable outcome much like Cuba is experiencing now.
How can one not expect anything else from a system that brought lines for bread, clothing, shoes or any other basic human need to not cause line ups for medical care?
L- Does the shortage of MRI imaging:
1. Cause delays in proper diagnosis, which lead to unnecessary suffering, preventable disability and some cases death directly or indirectly?
2. Could re-allocation of current revenues more efficiently fund an increased number of MRI services?
3. Do people working within or monitoring and also many patients already know this?
If you answered yes. Then government of the people, by the people and for the people is within your grasp, Be not afraid. Speak, Sign your petition and vote for the principles, your ancestors, fought, bled and died to make your inheritance.

It gets even more depressing in Saskatchewan’s case. A wealthy donor in Saskatchewan wanted to donate 2 million dollars to purchase an MRI for the Estevan, Sask. hospital in 2023. The Saskatchewan government refused the donation because they didn’t want to pay for MRI staff and maintenance costs.
Estevan is a small city with many heavy industries that doesn’t have very good access to medical services locally because of its location. Yet, when I lived there, the Saskatchewan government would send people on worker’s compensation to Minot, ND to get medical imaging because wait times were too long in Saskatchewan which significantly delayed injured workers from returning to work quickly.
The Canadian health care system is designed to ration care not provide adequate medical care. The high taxes paid by Canadians do not in any way ensure timely access to necessary medical services. It’s an awful model that should have been replaced by a better healthcare model decades ago. There’s plenty of better healthcare systems to copy.
Virtually any healthcare system is better than ours in Soviet Canuckistan. Perhaps the exception is North Korea and Cuba, the only two other countries that have fully adopted the Canuckistan model. Yet, anytime we try to make a reform to follow say the Japanese model, or the German model, or the French model, the unions and their paid shills jump up and down and scream that it will lead to “American Style” healthcare. The pearl clutching of the same “elbows-up” morons is quite epic.
After all, the purpose of the healthcare system is to see how many new BMWs can be parked at the headquarters of the United Nurses of Alberta
Another reason to hate Soviet Canuckistan; the idiots of this post-national state will say “I don’t have to pay for healthcare” as they are taxed to oblivion but are quite happy to die an agonizing death on a waiting list rather than pay a $100 co-pay.
The usual suspects, those who benefit from the status quo, will always fight against healthcare modernization and reform. That will never change. They’ve found a way to siphon off money into their personal accounts or are unions who hate the idea of competition.
But then there’s the others. These are regular Canadians who are are deathly afraid of reform and modernization because the fear any and all change. It’s clear the Canadian system of healthcare with its rationing, wait lists, hallway medicine, the inability to get a primary care doctor, MAID and fatally long ER wait time has failed its primary purpose. Despite this, there are immediate howls of rage when anyone suggests exploring superior systems in other countries, even ones that are not the US. Paying Scandinavian level taxes but receiving a late Soviet Union level of care is not a healthcare model to be proud of.
Personally, I think the only way around this problem is to free a couple of provinces from the Canadian Healthcare Act. Let them experiment with alternative systems without threats or penalties. It would necessitate an intensive public education campaign that showcases superior healthcare systems in Europe and Asia to somewhat alleviate Canadians irrational fear of change.
L – Only, an independent Alberta and Saskatchewan would be allowed to break free from the Bureaucratic (*we are the only source of truth) Soviet Model of Health Care.
* But we can be bribed or simply with being tempted with absolute power e.i. The Panic-demic exposed that censorship overrules freedom of speech and the Scientific Method. This in part, because inductive reasoning is based a balance of probabilities not the absolute certainty of deductive reasoning. Obviously, independence won’t alleviate people’s fear of reforming and modernizing the failing healthcare system but it does remove the Canadian Healthcare Act shackles. Perhaps starting with a few pilot projects in willing communities within a new country or province might kickstart change.
At this point it is quite obvious that the worst personality types seek power over others – school boards, condo boards, HOAs and all the way up the ladder to provincial and federal politics. Good politicians are rare and becoming rarer.

My mother was suffering from congestive heart failure, they set up a team to send her home, the next day they state opps sorry she’s dying of cancer hospice care for her. The next day she was dead. Forty nurses on the ward and not one of them noticed she was dying until my sister noticed she was gasping for breath. I shall die from home thank you liberals.

my 2 cents worth: for a number of reasons, following a series of staph infections, and knowing these can cause sepsis, it now appears it may take a total of TWO AND A HALF YEARS to get an appointment with a dematologist.

I remember when “Mike the knife” allowed private MRI clinics in Ontario. They were set up similar to ultra-sound clinics. They ran 24/7 and you could normally get an appointment at one within a couple of days, plus the hospitals could send their overflows to them. Then the Liberals got in power, closed the private MRI clinics and only allowed hospitals to have the machines. The MRI units were only open during “core” hours (i.e. 08:00 – 16:00) unless it was an emergency. The hospitals don’t have the funds to expand their MRI facilities so people go without.
That’s the sad part about getting older, you know what’s possible, because you experienced it. 🙁
My son needed an MRI for his arm and wrist. No problem until he found the waiting list was 3-4 months. No problem. You can skip the line and get a full body MRI but you have to pay the cost directly. No problem. Until he tried to use his full body MRI to have his arm and wrist examined by his doctor. Doesn’t work like that because the resolution is much lower on the full body scan. So he had to go in again after waiting 3-4 months. But if he was a dog …
