Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

But Kate!? Aren’t you proud to know that Adobe has stolen, err “sourced” your airbrush Art to train some disembodied Ai code somewhere?
Proud to be the victim of theft?
I stopped using their ” free” reader when it began demanding logins or money for functions I had previously used. Now I use pdfgear.
My heart bleeds. More, faster please.
the ‘subscribe subscribe subscribe’ model is permeating things.
maybe the trend will go the way of adobe?
as well as the trend towards refusal of vehicle owners permission to self repair?
megacorp acting like the guy that killed the goose that laid the golden egg?
it going the way of GM, Hudsons Bay, etc?
I have used TurboTax since nearly its inception … but … now I have to stand on my head to purchase a desktop version of the software. No, I don’t want to do my taxes in their cloud. I want the damn program on my computer. No cloud subscription model thank you. Ugggh! Yeah, I’m OLD, and I don’t like that metaphysical disembodied ether internets … I guess life has passed me by …

Agree. You can get the desktop version through Amazon (at least in Canada)!
They sure bury the Desktop version, but i buy it and download it from Turbo Taxes website. It takes a bit of searching for it though.
They send me an email and link to buy mine every year. I do buy the multi-returns pack and do 4 returns.
I was able to buy Adobe Photoshop Master Collection software for a very good price up to V6, and that when they went to subscription only.
I’ve been using V6 for everything I do without any difficulties, having faithfully obtained every possible upgrade I could. Works just fine, and most of the new applications are really not useful to me.
I have a registered V5 sitting in a box somewhere too.
Never have had the subscription, and no intention.
I have a hard time paying for something I don’t use enough and only sign up when there is a sale, like Crave or MSN papers, and cancel just before the end of the sale period. Paramount is too expensive and never on sale at a decent price.
