Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

I’d be interested in hearing Lance’s opinion on this. Firstly I don’t know why anyone would want McDonalds tomatoes for anything, but also I expect they’d be F1 hybrids made to appearance type regardless of taste, or a complete lack of taste, more like salted red-ish circles than actual tomato slices, and then when grown from those seeds they’ll revert to type and could be anything, and likely mediocre.
So, Brandywine types for me, and it’s been more than a decade since I ate a burger at McDonalds so it is a distant memory I’m not in a hurry to regain.
The real reason being…
I love tomatoes. It’s far more intense than merely liking them. I’ve been this way since I was 3 or 4 years old.
seriously. Potatoes too, usually red Pontiacs but there are others.
I am a Uuuge tomato fan … eat them almost every night.
I must say I am intrigued by this variety … esp. the prolific fruiting and tubular shape of the tomato. I swear … I’m going out and buying a quarter pounder with cheese tomorrow and pop the seeds into my little seedling greenhouse. I have already started all my flowers for the spring, and will just add these to the starter packs.
They look like Romas of some type which surprised me. The tomato slices on burgers have a larger diameter than typical Roma varieties.
Agreed. They DID look on the small side when he took them off his burger. I’ve never grown Roma’s … although they’re virtually all I buy. Are they THAT prolific on the vine?
