    1. Alberta got rid of this common law gem forever ago. I remember this from a forever ago business law course. In some jurisdictions stores with extra wide private sidewalks would periodically put up fences so no-one could claim continuous public use thus making public use permanent. In Alberta private ownership is permanent unless the government wants it. In that case you are effed but you do get paid.

        Happened to my great grandfather when I was a kid. He had a square mile of land next to the city of Edmonton. The city took it and gave him 70 thousand dollars. It was worth easily 100 times as much. That land is now Millwoods.

    CPC Quebec MPs are up in arms about Lawton’s push for Don Cherry’s Order of Canada. Interesting strategy – The CPC has 11 members from Quebec with 338Canada indicating that the CPC would retain 8 of them if an election was held today. Basically nothing to lose in Quebec but attractive to the rest of Canada. Any losses in Quebec would be more than made up in Ontario itself. Carney on the other hand risks alienating voters in Quebec or in Ontario (be honest thats where it matters) with potential vote swings an order of magnitude higher. Expect dithering worthy of Mr Dithers (Son of Dithers?). Its a tempest in a teapot but pass the popcorn.

    1. Don Cherry correctly identified French Canadian players to be much more likely to wear visors than others. Any inference that this made them sissies was self-doubt in the minds of French Canadians themselves. I think everyone wears visors today.
