The class, since you ask, is Ecofeminist Poetry & Poetics. Taught by a Professor of English, Brian Teare, who will, we’re assured, situate relationships and encourage re-feeling. And who will also reveal how “chattel slavery, imperialism, industrialisation, settler colonialism, and militarisation” can be understood – and righteously tutted about – by listening to “birds, goats, willow oaks, and lichen.”

The answer to the question that nobody asked, for only $250 a credit/hr.. A bargain at twice the price..
Sounds like every other get together on the Gulf Islands, Victoria, or Humanities faculty lounges at every university.
I could take a lichen to this guy.
I’m not lichen this class. “Underwater basket weaving”, at least you get a basket when you’re done.
I learned everything I needed to know about nature and lichen … from Sir Paul McCartney …

Being a white male, he’ll be well versed in “chattel slavery, imperialism, industrialisation, settler colonialism, and militarisation,” no? Man, I had my fill of this garbage (also taught by feminist white men) when I was at University. There was a time when English studies were quite respectable. Now, any study of the classics is all about the evil, white colonial patriarchy.
All together now: “Lichen bird on a wire, lichen drunk in a midnight choir…”
