  1. No one, and I mean no one, should have treatment for gender dysphoria until AFTER having had two years of psychiatric therapy to rule out and treat a myriad of other mental illnesses. True gender dysphoria should be the diagnosis of last resort. Unfortunately, society has turned everything on its head and now transitioning is offered as the first choice for treatment of a host of other psychiatric disorders.

    This man was a dangerous whack job. He should have been treated as such. Chopping off his dick obviously did not fix his problems.

    1. I would say that some form of psychiatric intervention SHOULD be the treatment of choice for gender dysphoria, as the dysphoria itself is likely a symptom of a deeper problem(s).
      And in the case of children Munchhausen’s Syndrome by proxy should be considered with appropriate intervention steps taken.
      But no, let’s encourage and enable people to go deeper into mental illness…it’s making some people a significant amount of money, like the Pritzker family…

        Bold of you to assume that modern psychiatry won’t make them worse. That’s the source of this evil in the first place.

        1. You are correct that the psychiatric field, as part of the medical field in total, has become dangerously quagmired in ideological/political agendas.
          And that does need to be addressed.

          In the meantime, my comment stands: these are deeply troubled people who need something other than “gender affirming care” which just further sends them down the path of even more deeply troubled.
          It would be ideal to step in before they get to the point where they’re living in a van down by the river after murdering/nearly murdering, or going postal at hockey games.

      2. During the days when the two year rule was used, hardly anyone who started with a gender dysphoria claim ever got past that step. By the time they have treatment from depression, neurosis, personality disorders, autogynephilia and other assorted related paraphilias, you are left with pretty much no one who needs transitioning. The very few remaining cases are virtually all like Manitoba’s David Reimer where transitioning corrected a previous erroneous transitioning of someone born intersex or who lost their genitals.

        There are a teeny tiny minority of people who truly are suffering from gender dysphoria but it is beyond exceptionally rare.

      3. L – Clinical Psychologists, unlike Psychiatrists, are not licensed to prescribe drugs. That licence tempts the latter to bypass the hours, it may require for a proper diagnosis. Then guide the patient to see/create their own path to recovery or healthy adjustment to what they cannot change.

        The over prescribing of drugs is quick/easy money for other physicians, too. Dr. Aseem Malhotra, a famous British Consultant Cardiologist, is one of the advocates that not over prescribing is a Standard of Care issue!

        The fact that “gender affirming” care patients are long term revenue streams for Big Pharma is one of flashing red lights in the current gender dysphoria miasma. Prof. Jordan Peterson is one of the most articulate critics on this subject. When he is well enough, to enter the public arena again, his summary will read like a prosecuting attorney at the Nuremberg trials.

      4. Nahhhh … the Governor of RI has declared this is a case of “gun violence” and “domestic violence”. Hence, the solution is more gun laws and restraining orders. Problem solved, eh Gov.?

    2. There is no gender affirming surgery.

      The only gender affirming treatment is one that affirms reality.

      All transpersons are mentally ill. All have delusional and incorrect perceptions of reality. All are dangerous to themselves and to others around them.

  2. Why would anyone ever treat a problem between their ears by chopping off their dick? If you have a close relative who is a dude in a dress who is pumping themselves full of estrogen, think about disappearing. Estrogen can make them really bitchy.

    1. Have an acquaintance getting cancer treatments. In order to offset the testosterone in his body that the cancer is feeding off of, he is taking estrogen. Talked to his wife a few days back, she said he is definitely getting bitchy.

    1. The news conference stated both his birth name (and gender) as well as the name (and gender) he was going by at the time of shooting. So kudos to them for telling the truth — at least we weren’t subjected to ‘gunperson’.

          And we should (as I have mentioned previously) take you guys as an object lesson on why we cannot rest upon any laurels…and you guys should probably start working on a way to productively address where you are going, which doesn’t seem to be towards anything remotely resembling a happy ending.

  4. I hesitated to make the “brony, furry, or tranny?” joke yesterday because it’s a sad and atrocious thing. A little girl gets shot down by her own father?

    But here we are, and the joke has made itself. Again.

    1. Not to worry … I am sure there is a restraining order preventing him from visiting his children in the hospital … and visiting hours in the ICU are severely limited anyway.

      1. Speaking of tats: appears as though the shooter had a rather interesting one.

        Again, a look into his internet footprint might be worthwhile.

    Defined the problem of “Mental Health ..What would you call a group of people who wish to define everyone as “Sick” and insist that all need the “specialized help” of said same group?
