You’re not from around here; the Shaw Festival and the Stratford Festival are about a two hour drive apart, and at one time were bastions of classic live theatre. They’ve both since gone to absolute sh*t, both in terms of quality and The Message. Stratford shoving Shakespeare to the back of the bus in favour of mass appeal musicals has helped them financially but even they can’t resist giving major roles to subpar singers on the basis of ethnicity. And Shaw seems to have largely given up on Shaw in favour of mediocre dinner theater.

It is similar to the apathy from the political and chattering class in the UK about the grooming gangs that were allowed to commit crimes for a couple of decades. There was a time, not long ago, where crimes against children were considered the worst of the worst. Like I’ve said before, it feels like we’re all living in the twilight zone. All I know is that a lot of politicians like to speak about their Christian faith. They should consider the Epstein files as a test of their faith. If they ignore these crimes against children for political reasons, then I’d say they’ve failed that test -or- they were/are fake Christians.

Yeah, I’m not buying the “there’s nothing we can do” narrative. Everything about this case screams cover-up. With today’s surveillance technology and forensic capabilities, that’s not a plausible explanation for the lack of a thorough investigation into these horrific crimes.
It’s not what can be found; it’s what can be presented in a court of law and will actually stick. No prosecutor is going into a court room with e-mails talking about ‘ice cream’ — it may be well known that it is code, but unless you’ve got better evidence than that the defense will blow it out of the water.
And as far as surveillance and the like? Again, there are all kinds of hurdles to admissibility — might I call attention to a big one: chain of custody. We just had an administration prior that sat on these files for four years.
And then we can get into grandstanding politicians (who may have had other reasons besides grandstanding) who helped to muddy the waters like I said. Kind of makes a prosecutor’s job even more difficult.
This isn’t being blase about it, but it is pointing out the realities as they are now. We’ll see if some things don’t come about, but they may not because (see my comments above).
They haven’t thoroughly investigated any crimes of Epstein associates.. Which VIPs have been questioned? Why has the ranch not been searched? Has electronic equipment been seized? Have any videos been matched to people in the files? Have IRS forensic audits been done on the Epstein associates?

Toddler came in to a local ER; needle track marks all over its body, presence of meth in blood work, suffering from gonorrhea — evidence of extreme neglect and abuse. The two people picked up with said kid by the cops were not the kid’s parents after DNA swab confirmed. Admitted to buying said child as infant — no birth record, no id of any kind, a ghost kid. Reason for buying kid? Using it for money (you can guess).
Second story: kid came in to local ER for a cold; techs and nurses noticed some suspicious bruises; kid turned out to have extensive (extensive and internal!) injuries attesting to sexual abuse; cops took parents in for questioning; parents eventually admitted to allowing babysitter to make kiddie porn with their kid…as long as they got their cut…Nobody ever had suspected because on the outside they looked like a normal middle class family — dog, picket fence, minivan.
And that was just two instances in nowhereville-that-looks-like Mayberry. So yeah, there’s a lot of filth in the world.
